I'm a late bloomer to running and don't really enjoy it. I mainly jog in the evening but occasionally go in the morning. I run regularly but try to do it every other day. I'm new to running (and don't really enjoy it but it's the only cardio I can do right now) so I listen to audiobooks to distract me and before I know it I've finished the book!

I suffered from shin splints when really I got into kung fu a while back and ended up seeing a sports physio who told me I was wearing the wrong trainers (they were flat at the time). They suggested the ones that support the arch of the foot as my ankles pronate inwards. Since then I have not spent more than £50 on a pair…

Hi, I run a similar amount and like you do some weight based exercises. I also do a lot of walking 80 mins everyday (Monday to Friday) and weekly swimming. I will soon be getting a bike to provide for even more cardio variety. Out of the three I prefer cycling and swimming to running as there is less impact on your knees.

I think Maximuscle do female only protein shakes. I'm a male by the way :) I've tried other male protein shakes but they all gave me cramps except for Maximuscle's.

I'm in the uk too! How about a protein and salad wrap as an alternative? Occasionally I go for a chicken kebab with salad (shish not doner) as this is similar to BBQing meat and low in fat. Another suggestion is the chicken pieces (already cooked) you can get in most supermarkets.

I have a very small 1 bed flat/apartment. I have a pair of dumbbells and resistance bands. I do my exercises in my lounge 3 - 4 times a week.

You only get one shot at life so make it count and it is definitely mind over matter. Minimise/remove contact with negative people (they do not add value to your life and bring you down). What doesn't kill you makes you stronger! Stay positive - we are here to help you :)
