  • I figure if you multiply your age times two and you know people that age, you're middle age. I don't know anyone 114, so I'm not middle age, I'm old. But no one believes I'm 57. :D
  • Have some lost calories snacks in your desk. Substitute as necessary.
  • I was weighing on Mondays for no reason than the first time I weighed in was a Monday. I kept hearing not to be scale obsessed. Now I weigh myself everyday and laugh at the daily fluctuations. I've had as much as a three pound swing day to day. The key is finding what works for you.
  • You only receive support here if you follow the herd and do it exactly one way. Everyone else gets attacked. Of the message boards I read regularly, this is easily the most unfriendly.
  • /begin sarcasm He hasn't accepted personal responsibility. There must be posts calling him out on that, it's the only way he will learn. If he simply posted right away that it was because of his weakness that he is overweight, no one would have complained. But instead in some people's eyes he was blaming it on law school!…
  • I'm happy when my teacher schedule works out with a mid morning planning period. I usually have breakfast around 5:30 and a snack at 9:30 with lunch at 12:45. Sometimes at 9:30 I am splitting my breakfast, other times it's splitting my lunch. Lately I've been having a PB&J at 9:30 and a soup to go for lunch.
  • Fish tacos at PadreritaGrill on South Padre Island, Lasagna at Cortinos in Weslaco, deep dish at Lou Malnattis in Chicago, Nathan's Special (crab cakes, flounder fillet, wild gulf caught shrimp, fries, cole slaw) and an Arnold Palmer at Joe's Oyster Bar in Port Isabelle, BBQ pretty much everywhere in Texas . . .
  • Ah, the cult of MFP. We really do need a set of rules and appropriate punishments.
  • You didn't gain the weight in a day and you won't lose it in a day. When your weight is interfering with your life it is a problem. When your weight loss plan is interfering with your life IMNSHO it is a problem. Have that beer with a friend, take a nap, eat an onion ring, you'll make it up. So it takes you a few more…

  • Basically you want to tone up. Forget the scale and grab the tape measure. Plan workouts to build that muscle. You will probably gain weight, but will look "cut"*. Good luck new lawyer  *The above opinion is not designed to and does not provide medical advice, professional diagnosis, opinion, treatment or services…
  • When I was a kid the typical adult McDonald's meal included a burger and fries *smaller* than anything on the menu today, and a 12oz drink. No free refills. The 1400 calorie McDonald meal did not exist.
  • Original Post And we get to this The question wasn't why they aren't losing weight.
  • Second attempt. Like most diet plans, once you stop, you gain. My doctor and I worked out a multiple step plan to lose the weight and keep it off. MFP is the anchor that will folow through at each stage, ending with only MFP. I've resigned myself that I will be loggin my food for the rest of my life. I am hoping for a food…
  • We should have a list of official rules and if people are not following all of them they should be removed from the forums or have their accouts deleted. Mixing weighers and non weighers one one site, how crazy is that!? And be certain to only offer support and encouragement to people who are following the exact…
  • Everyone must lose weight the same way or there will be chaos. :-) Keep the things that work, change the things that don't. The simpler and easier to follow, the more likely it will become a habit. My choices are based on being 52 years old with a life expectancy based on family health profiles of living to be 73. That…
  • Lonely because you don't have a guy friend? There are several other emotions that may come into play but you shouldn't be lonely. Family and friends can hellp overcome that issue. Having your happiness depend on who you are dating at the moment is possibly not the best way to live.

  • And i will agree with the regular posters here who complain that some of the pro-Belviq posts sound like they are shills paid to write these reviews, I must agree. I have 40+ days logging in, and a posting history that pre-dates these new pharmaceuticals.
  • That is why I, and many of the Belviq users are here. I intend to log for the rest of my life. You begin Belviq with the understanding that it is a long term weight management drug. It is designed and was approved for lifetime use. It is unlike every other weight loss drug that has ever been on the market. I understand…
  • No, Belviq does not boost your metabolism. Also the recommended rate of loss is much less than what most people here are looking for. The guidelines from Belviq is 5% of your total body weight in 3 months or 10% in a year. That is less than a pound a week for most people. It's not a fast weight loss drug at all. I…
  • Great suggestions, thank you. I am trying to build healthy habits when I shift into maintenance mode.
  • I agree 100%. I started posting in October 2010. I have failed at using just MFP. Weight control is the one area of my life that I have not been successful at. I'm trying this only after my doctor and I tried everything else. Sadly, that means ridicule and dire warnings from the doctors here who have studied Belviq and my…
  • There is another thread where everyone who hates weight loss medications has jumped in. There were a couple posters who are using MFP and asking for a place to support each other. It clearly is not on this site. I've been studying Belviq along with my doctor for over a year, and extensively the past three months. I…
  • No, There are people here looking for support. Can't they have one thread? Do you tell everyone that if they stop MFP they will gain weight so be prepared to log everything you eat for the rest of your life? I see plenty of encouraging threads here and I thought there could be one tiny place where people who are really…
  • My doctor and I decided on Belviq after ten years of yo-yoing by counting calories alone. Three times I counted calories successfully only to gain it back when I stopped. Twice was the old school carry a diary and add them up. The last time was with MFP. My doctor termed me fit but fat. I could carry a backpack many miles…
  • Possibly, would you also agree with this? Are most of the "anti" pill posts here from fake accounts trying to promote their products? I'm skeptical of people who have below 10 posts or just started posting today. I only just started posting on MFP in October of 2010 but have been using the application for more than four…
  • Seriously, thank you all for the motivation, I do appreciate it.
  • BTW, I have over 100 posts dating back to October of 2010, can I speak without anyone thinking I am just promoting a product? If not then don't read. What continues to get ignored in this thread is that medical science has continued to research and improve. Plus, posters here who are *also* taking medication are *here* for…
  • I teach 8th grade. Girls are way more viscous than boys at that age. Guys have a beef with each other, maybe a little pushing, maybe a punch gets thrown, over by the next day they are back to being buds. . Girls have a beef with each other, it's psychological warfare for months. Friends choose sides. Comments start to fly…
  • Sounds like you received great advice. You may also want to consider a water bladder and backpack while running to free your hands. One of the big differences in running and arms since the 1970s running boom is the movement towards weight lifting. When I was running in college the coach would have screamed at us if he saw…
