Well - I work at 24 Hour Fitness so there isn't enough room on this website to tell all of the weird/gross things I have seen there.

This happens to me too, but only when I use the elliptical machine. I can count on my toes going numb about 15 minutes into my workout. I'm fairly flat-footed so I think this may have something to do with it. People have told me that better arch support can help with it.

I struggle with this every weekend. I'm dry during the week, but when my weekends come it's party time. I usually have 3,000+ calories on the weekends (due to drinks) and I know it's slowing my progress. And like everyone else is saying, a few beers turns into a food binge as well. But I just can't give up my beer! I know…

WOW! So inspiring, you look fantastic! Can't wait to see your results when you reach your goal!

2,000 calories is a way across the board average. A 6'3" bodybuilder certainly needs more calories a day than a 5'3" person who has an inactive lifestyle. Find a TDEE calculator, they're all over online! See how much you're burning a day just on average, and minus 500 calories (or 20%, whatever you're more comfortable…

Don't go by the number on the scale. Start taking measurements and go by how you look and feel. You may not see the changes but other people will start to notice. And while it's not possible to gain that much muscle so quickly, it IS entirely possible that your muscles are retaining water from being worked out suddenly.…

How tall are you and how much do you weigh? You may need to bump up your calorie intake.
-
Runner's World - they'll have you step on the special "scale" and show you exactly where/if you over-pronate and where you carry your most weight when working out. And then tell you the best shoes and inserts. Pricey, but worth it.
-
Glad to hear you did both! She IS a fantastic motivator. And a great coach. She seems to know exactly where her "students" will make small mistakes and shes knows when to correct those mistakes.
-
Me too. I've put on about 2.5 lbs in the past two weeks. I accredit that to more water retention for my muscles, and hopefully in a couple weeks I'll start to see the weight drop.

I'm 5'9", 210lbs. I try to stay at 1600 on no exercise days, and around 2000 on exercise days. It's not too hard calorie-wise but I really need to keep my sodium levels lower and up my protein.
-
I know how you feel! I started my journey 2-3 weeks ago, and I'm 2.5 lbs up from where I was when I started. It's so discouraging :( But a lot of people put on a few pounds when they start out, and after a month or two the weight comes off. Keep at it! Don't look at the scale so much, take measurements and pay attention to…

Haha. Thank you.

I'm not sure what programs you could get but swimming is very low-impact for joints and you can really burn a lot of calories doing it!
-
I absolutely do. MFP sets up your daily goals with a deficit in place already. If you don't eat back your exercise calories you could be doubling your deficit, which can have some bad side effects (i.e. no weight loss). Running your car with no gas isn't gonna get you anywhere any faster, right?

Oh man. This is the most amazing thread ever. You know it's bad when you feel like you're gonna break your friend's body: And when you feel much fatter than your skinny boyfriend:
-
I'll add you all as well. I'm a little taller 5'9", and 208 today. I wanna get down to 160.

I think what a lot of people are skipping over here is the amount of work you do. 1200-1500 calories a day is okay for weight loss if you SIT ON YOUR *kitten* all day. People who are burning major calories (think: runners, dancers, etc...) every day NEED to eat more because they need that "fuel." "Starvation mode" has been…

I'm always looking for more friends - the more other people post, the more motivated I feel! I just added you :)

I'm in Huntington Beach, off Beach and Adams. So glad to have found an Orange County group!

Also from Orange County! and my sister who is a frequent user is from San Fran, representing Cali love!

My second toes are bigger too! On both feet.

I have this very same thing and I've always wondering what it was. Like you, it seems to be the worst on the elliptical. I recently bought different shoes as well and it has helped a bit but not cured it. I think you're on the right track with the arch support, I always thought it might have had something to do with that.…
