I want to present a different situation from incorrectly guessing or weighing food: Perhaps your metabolism is used to eating less and that's why 1300 calories feels like so much. I know my mom (starting weight 380 lbs) spent most of her days consuming between 800 and 1000 calories all in one meal of fast food. She'd…

Congrats on your amazing achievement! Out of curiosity, how are you going about maintenance?

I did AIP Paleo last year and it did help, but I found some issues with it. This year, I'm doing an anti-inflammatory diet with the addition of FODMAP removal and it seems to be much more energizing. There's honestly only a few differences between the two (I can have walnuts on one but not on the other, I can't have…

I have Multiple Autoimmune Syndrome (MAS) encompassing hypothyroidism, scleritis, psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis and Celiac Disease. I'd love to network! I'm definitely adding the OP but, if anyone else in this forum would also like to add me, feel free. Autoimmune diseases make it so difficult to lose weight, but we can…

Tiana! I actually got asked by one of the guys working the ticket booth if I was dressing up for the movie by dying my hair this way. Nope! Totally had it first. :)

TavisstockToad: I think Kazik and Kazimierz is the same person. I think. MayaDrya: Don't lose weight for someone else. Either lose weight for yourself or be happy with yourself. Don't buy clothes based on someone else's opinion. Form your own opinion. Spending $600 on a shirt is utterly ridiculous. I would never. Health is…

I can relate to your story quite a bit. I'm actually surfing the Motivation and Support forum while waiting for responses to my topic with a similar story (http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1204529-illness-made-me-gain-it-back-motivation-long) Long story short, I managed to lose most of my weight last year, then…

I paid out of pocket for my thyroid test when I was off of insurance. It cost $68. To me, that was a small price to pay to get my meds upped (I'd spiked from a TSH of 27 (coming down from a high prior) to a TSH of 40 without reason. I'm currently level. All of those symptoms sound like textbook hypothyroidism spike. Have…

40? (Peeped at your profile after I guessed and I was off. You look great!)

Ditto for pretty much everything said here. Mine's in the bathroom so I can weigh myself in the morning while naked after using the can for the lowest reading and I don't want to do that in the kitchen. An additional +1 for the bathroom having hard floors. One time I was visiting my parents for a week and had to weigh…

I have no suggestions - just wanted to post as an hourglass who completely understands your situation. When I first started gaining weight, I had to go up pant sizes just to get them over my thighs, and then they'd be crazy loose at my stomach. You know how they say the first place you gain is the last place you lose?…

I think the big thing for everyone to remember is that it's different for each person. One case of hypothyroidism is never typical for the whole group.
-
I think it can make things a lot more frustrating than someone without hypothyroidism. The medication is definitely not a fix-all. I've been leveled out and take my medication daily. They've had me cut gluten, sugar and starch from my diet which got me under 190, and are now talking about high-sugar fruits, dairy and red…

Here's a long list of symptoms: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/hypothyroidism/DS00353/DSECTION=symptoms If you're concerned about being hypothyroid, I would get tested by an endocrinologist.
-
I've seen a few. I joined the active ones, but there are a couple inactive ones as well. Just looking to network. :)

This is absolutely not true. Hypothyroidism is different for everyone. I'm leveled out and stuck despite dieting, exercise and regular medication. And you can tell from other responses that this is a common problem.
-
Still searching for other hypothyroids out there.
