I'm nowhere near any of my goals, but the the research I've seen definitely indicate that waist is a better measure than BMI.

The only help I can offer is that ASAP and fitness are incompatible. The only other thing I can offer is if you are going to the gym and exercising more seriously, eat more protein.

How are you defining old? One of the reasons I started losing weight was because I was thinking I didn't see very many obese elderly people. After the post two posts up, I then figured it was because they were invisible, but now I'm all confused again!

Some days. I notice that if I overeat, I don't feel cold. I think at least part of it is that when you are in a calorie deficit, your metabolism adjusts to burn less calories on things like body-heat.
