I feel like I can't catch a break either. Last week was a deload week, which I took super light. I got my sleep schedule back to some semblance of normal and responsible-adult-like. One morning (maybe Friday? who's to say) I woke up with a stiff neck, which has nearly almost resolved itself, then this morning I woke up…

I think so, too. She was the type of cat that if she felt like she needed out help she would've come to find us; she used to basically yell for us whenever she had a hairball. I'm choosing to believe that her coming to snuggle with us Sunday night was her way of saying goodbye.

Our sweet girl passed away this morning. She had gone to hide under my recliner and I found her while Lauren was taking Matthew to school this morning. As hard as it was to find her like that I hope she felt safe at home and I'm glad she doesn't have to be sick anymore. She came and snuggled for a bit right at bedtime last…

Thanks, Sandy. Even just putting that in text was cathartic. This is the cat that found me on the golf course. It's been really hard to see her decline from a 14 lb playful snugglebug to a very bony 7 lb morose little thing. She's still eating and generally functioning ok. We're taking her to see a specialist next week…

Hey all. I know I've been quiet here, too, but still keeping up with updates and hope everyone is doing well and getting what they need. Candidly, I've been struggling, too. Not with the magnitude of complications that it seems others are facing, which I try to find gratitude in. Generally, I feel like I'm just barely…

@KickassAmazon76, Post rejected, not enough bowling.

Several years ago when I was doing a full-body split I would hit legs 3x/week. Looking back it was way too much systemic fatigue; I was always doing squats and deadlifts. Doing 2x now and it's much more manageable for me.

In my judgement, that large of a jump is just reckless and asking for injury. Maybe I'm too risk and/or injury averse but I don't think I've seen anything more than 2.5kg recommended for a lifter beyond introductory gains. Even starting strength maxes at 10 lbs increments (4.5kg), if memory serves, and that's only for…

Take care of yourself, dude. All the best to you both trying to heal up.

Grey & white is Sherlock, he’s at least 15lbs and an absolute dope. Calico is Martha, she’s a sweet fancy lady of a cat
-
lol, we definitely call her that the least. We got all three right around the same time and there's a theme. Her male compadre is Sherlock, our other female is Mrs. Hudson (aka Martha). She was the third of the trio obtained so she's Irene, as in Irene Adler. It's fitting in that she definitely knows she's pretty but her…

Here’s the culprit at our house, Irene (aka Floof or Fluffy). She’ll follow me around like a Pokémon and prone to yelling rather than actually meowing. When she wants me to get up she’ll climb on my pillow and either lick my forehead or paw at my face.

At one point I was off in the weeds reading research on how to try and optimize everything fitness-related; if I recall correctly there's data that suggests fractional advantages to lifting mid-afternoon for maximizing strength in the average circadian rhythm, but the magnitude isn't significant compared to timing when…

If you drive a blue Subaru... maybe?

@nossmf I didn’t realize until I looked at my receipt from dinner but I’m staying in Aurora, CO on this trip; small world!

@Minion_training_program, keep kicking *kitten*, Gus!

RE: ADHD Squad Full disclosure, I've not received any diagnosis but fully believe I have ADHD, general anxiety and have strong autistic spectrum tendencies. I've been supplementing L-Theanine at 200 mg twice daily and feel like I've seen some improvement to executive function and focus.…

Comforting to know this isn't just me. If I'm doing a set number of reps I find I keep better track counting down vs. up.

My program right now is based heavily on the Renaissance Periodization Men's Physique 6 day full body template. I was able to find an old spreadsheet of it floating around the internet a few years ago. I tried running it as written and it was too much volume to practically deploy at this phase of life, at least that…

LFG! Way to get after it, dude!

I feel the same about incline vs. flat; I get way better pec activation with inclines but my shoulders are the inverse to yours. If I do heavy barbell inclines or OHP my shoulders complain so I stick to dumbbells for those. I'll have to actually record some lifts one of these days instead of just lurking. I did a full…
-
Similarly, flat bench hasn't ever really given me problems but if I do any semblance of volume on incline or overhead press with a barbell my shoulders get cranky. I've almost entirely switched to dumbbells for those two lifts and those issues went away.

Way to get after it, Sandy! Happy to hear this session lifted your spirits. Your tenacity and perseverance is more impactful and inspiring than you know.

I've found that even a few extra pounds makes a difference for pull-ups. I've been massing since around Thanksgiving and up ~9 lbs (currently 180lbs at 6'1" aka 81.6 kg and 1.85m), can absolutely tell a difference when I do pull-ups
-
Yeah, I trained like that for a while when I first started, doing full body 3x/week. Logistically, the sessions got too long and I switched to a 4 day, and eventually a 6 day split.

I too was told no football growing up. Played baseball for about 10 years (up to high school) and basketball for a few years in elementary school. Captained our quiz team to 3 conference titles, did a number of science competitions and played trumpet in concert band... boy was I cool or what.

Glad to hear you're doing well and getting to see family for the holidays. I'm always pretty introspective, sometimes to a fault, but definitely prone to ruminate on thoughts of the year toward it's end. Back into late '22 and through the first half of '23 waves of medical issues lapped harshly upon the shores of many…

Not at all, I was simply chiming in

RE: Physique Preferences I've been married for 10 years, and together since '09. Neither one of us have ever really been overweight throughout the relationship (something we discussed we wanted to hold each other accountable to, if it ever came up, for health and longevity). When we got married in '13 I was ~158 lbs at…

RE: Shoes - Chucks have too narrow of a toe box for me (maybe in general, tbh?) - Had a pair of Adipowers, maybe they were the wrong size, but felt they were too narrow, too and I'd get midfoot cramping. - Really liked the original lifting cross-trainers that Under Armour put out but the style had shifted some over the…
