Actually did a few videos tonight, led off with barbell rows, 200# 4x3 superset with legs raises (neither pictured), followed up with dumbbell rows, pull ups, curls, and lateral raises. Few more weeks on a fairly lean bulk should have me in the low 180s.

You, too! Glad you're doing well. I speculate many have migrated to other platforms like MacroFactor or the RP app that cater to crossfit and strength athletes more than MFP's default approach.
-
It might just be you and I left. For my bulk I've got about 6 lbs over 8 weeks left.

My wife is baffled how irritated I get if she takes two plates from one side vs. one from each side for our pulley tower, which is separate from our rack and ergonomically closer to one side.
-
Glad to see you back in action. I haven't videoed anything in a while, endeavoring to cultivate some mass for at least a few more weeks.

It's bulking season again for me so I figured I'd poke this thread; how's everyone been doing? After my bulk last year I had a meandering cut from 178.5lbs down to a low of ~172 on trend just before New Years'. I also actually saw a daily weight under 170 for the first time in several years so I'm confident I'm at a leaner…

Thanks @springlering62 we'll have to try some of those. It's been a while since we hit up our Trader Joe's. Some additional context for the purchase, my in-laws bought one a few weeks (months maybe?) ago and will not shut up about theirs. One evening last week I cut the grass, did not have dinner with the Mrs. and 3 y/o so…

Ouch, shots fired. I have favored polos in white and marroon, too. Does that help my case? On an unrelated note, the Mrs. and I impulse bought a dual basket air fryer that was on sale at Costco last week. Any favorite air fryer recipes from the group here?

On that note, I was just having to travel for business this week, got plenty of compliments from remote coworkers I hadn't seen in a while, and overheard many folks complaining about fitting into airplane seats as well as a flight attendant spouting pseudoscience about needing to remove toxins to be healthier. Grateful for…

Agreed. It baffles me how many non-premium users get so riled up about bugs or features on a free platform.
-
For me it was MFP letting me pick "lose 2lb/week" while I was already at the higher end of "healthy" via BMI. My self perception was that I'd let myself get so fat and I needed to fix it ASAP.

I set it to 1200 when I started as well, way back in 2012. At that point I would eat back 100% of exercise cals and my data integrity was suspect so I doubt I spent any time really that low. Still, a far cry from where I maintain (or even cut) now with a properly structured lifting regimen and at least an additional 15lbs…

Having been on MFP for over 10 years now, I've gone through many many iterations on what was "good enough" only to find that wasn't necessarily the case to most optimally work towards my goals. I've not purchased any products from Renaissance Periodization but the amount of their science-backed info you can find for free…

I've probably gone way further down the nutrient timing rabbit hole than most. I feel like OMAD is one extreme end of the spectrum, which I've not tried, but I did dabble with 16:8 for a while when it was alleged to be the panacea of being jacked and lean. I was training sub-optimally at the time but always felt like I was…

@Springlering62, your speculation on the "89" is correct, I turned 33 last month. It's comforting knowing I'm not the only one with moments of doubt and I know fitness is worth it and usually a better-late-than-never proposition.

I don’t recall if I’ve touched on this here or not, but I’m far more diligent (or obsessive, depending on your perception) with how I track, what I choose to and not eat, and getting my lifting workouts in now on year 10 on MFP than I ever was when I was losing the original chunk of weight that brought me here. Whether…

The concept of trying that gives spikes my anxiety...

I’m finding it really interesting to hear the different perspectives on weight targets, logging, and body composition. On my end, body composition is probably 80% of it. I’m virtually the same weight now as when I first started using MFP 10 years ago but I’d estimate I’m carrying ~15 lbs more muscle than I was at 23,…

I struggle mightily with imposter syndrome in so many aspects of my life... personally and professionally... as an engineer, a scientist, a friend, a parent, or partner. I did so as child and find that I still do at now 33. When it comes to fitness and being active on the platform a large portion of it stems from luckily…

Bit late to reply to this but I was traveling for work and just catching up on threads today... To me this is a totally normal thing to worry about but I'd suggest trying to take solace in two factors: - If something happens and you have some weight setbacks, you are now better at structuring an environment conducive to…

Buc-ee's is the chain of stores. I'm not exactly sure what the beaver nuggets are composed of.
-
Comically, before Tuesday I had no idea what Buc-ee's was. Had to be in Austin and San Antonio for work and was flummoxed when I drove past one on I-35 Tuesday afternoon. After being regaled of their wonder by a San Antonio-based colleague on Wednesday morning I stopped to see for myself on the way back to Austin that…

Agree with @springlering62, enviable depth right there. If my quick math and plate tally is right you've added ~20kg to your squat in 7 weeks? That's fantastic!
-
Hey guys. Overall, I've been well, weight has been a little noisy but mostly within the expected range. Height of bulk in early November was right around 180 and felt fluffy. Pretty smooth drop to 176 in early January but that was pretty depleted after needing to take 2+ weeks off lifting due to a sinus infection. Back up…

I bought a cheap one on amazon mid-spring of 2020 and do like it, should probably use it more. I do generally keep to the meatier part of muscles and haven't had any problems. The heads that came with mine are fairly forgiving foam, unsure how they compare to a higher end unit.

I claim 6’1” (in reality it’s 6’0.5”) and I pretty much bounce between ~175-185 lbs depending on whether or not I’m bulking or cutting. According to the skulpt device I have, when I started lifting seriously in 2015 (age 26) I was ~18% body fat and was very unhappy with how fat I felt. I was 177 this morning at <15% and…

If you have performance and/or muscle-building aspirations having casein protein before bed is recommended practice by the likes of Renaissance Periodization, etc. The thought being the slower digesting protein supports muscle growth/preservation as it supplies amino acids over the long period between your dinner protein…

I dabbled with PHAT a few times and couldn't really get up for it. I don't specifically remember why but it might be worth a revisit.

Regarding barbell hip thrust comfort, the Mrs. and I haven't ever had any problems using one of those foam wrap-around squat pads (pool noodle-esque) but I saw that abmat recently came out with this thing: https://abmat.com/products/hip-thrust-pad

I briefly searched for that thread and couldn't find it. Creeping on his profile says he's been inactive since November. This is a thread that was getting a lot of traffic before the holidays. Started as a "post your latest achievement" type thread but has has plenty of routine and form discussion.…
