They say 80% of the job is in the kitchen. That is right and wrong. 100 percent of the job is in your head. I started out knowing it was going to hurt, knowing I couldn't control my appetite, knowing I was too weak and unhealthy to do any meaningful volume of exercise to change things. But I did it anyway. I knew I would…

I comment about 20% of the time. I don't see it as an audition (not saying you do or anything). I'm friendly so I friend request. I don't worry about whether or not the request is accepted. It's working well for me so far. I've met all kinds of cool people.

Today I have been feeling thankful for my MFP Friends who have been so nice and very supportive. So grateful I am healthy enough to make rapid progress, much faster than I thought possible. Thank you Lord.

I really like the data logging. It seems to be the most convenient way for me to keep track of what i'm eating. and my overall plan.

I think my BMR estimate on MFP must be pretty close, though I do occassionally have that thing where my appetite goes completely bonkers. I generally eat about the same amount everyday regardless of how much I burn.

I agree with the others. This is well within a normal intraday weight fluctuation. You could be fooling your body into trying to store calories with such a restrictive diet and no change in activity level. I'm sure you know about this already, but in a nutshell, if you severely restrict calories your body may start trying…

I found plain beef jerky and meat sticks (like organic grass fed stuff) to work well. Almonds can be good, but they might make you feel a bit bloated. The meat sticks are good because there's no stretching into additional servings. One stick is one serving like 90 calories I think.

Everything I put in is whole food organic, but I'm too lazy to enter all that. I just put in searches like "Chicken Broccoli casserole" and pick something I think is probably close to what I ate. My punishment for this laziness is that I find verified boxed foods that look like the right portions and about the right…

I created my own meals. Then I only have to add/change a couple of ingredients. MFP provides one called Yesterday's Breakfast, lunch dinner that gives you everything you ate yesterday. Saves some time.

Most of the job is done in the kitchen my friend. work those mastication muscles!

It doesn't seem like much of a focus here. One area of focus for me is building muscle, but there don't seem to be a lot of body builders here.

I've never heard anyone say drinking made their problems get better. It nearly destroyed me. 15 years sober and I can tell you my only regret is that I didn't stop sooner. I encourage anyone interested in ending their relationship with alcohol to do so. If I could do it, anyone can.

You're all going to think I'm pandering but I don't care...BRAINS. Nothing better than a woman who knows what she knows and isn't shy about running intellectual circles around men. This is what I love the most about my wife. She is so...stinking...smart...

Almost every Saturday. My daughters talked me into it and now I like it more than they do!

I like the Fit Father Project. There is a Fit Mother Project that is probably good too run by the same people. Maybe give that a shot.

I'm working hard not to pay too much attention to calorie consumption. That's not to say I haven't gotten more familiar with what's coming in, it's just that I need to stay focused on 1) feeling better 2) getting stronger and 3) eventually looking a bit better. So far I have felt better and been getting stronger, so I'm…

80 percent of the job is in the kitchen. I've thought that was a useful statement so I thought I would share. To me, it seems unwise to try to lose so much weight so fast, especially if you have more than 20 pounds to lose. 0.5 pounds a week and a diet that you can live with seems so much better than 10 weeks of starvation…

I was on SSRI's for more than a decade. I would say overall they did not affect my weight. I gained throughout that period. Interestingly, I have lost a not insignificant portion of the weight I gained since finally getting off SSRI's. This is the first time I've wondered if there was a connection.

I looked at the ingredients for that Dymatize Fruity Pebbles. There are no stimulants. I can't see how it would help as an appetite suppressant beyond anything else of the equivalent calorie count.

Gosh that's a steep weight loss goal. What's your hurry?
