  • This is my absolute favorite quinoa recipe: http://www.vegetariantimes.com/recipes/11251?section= It tastes as beautiful as it looks.
  • kristinamayer & mstahl are correct. I personally fluctuate 3-5 pounds during "that time of the month" and I always do back to the lower weigh afterward. I weight myself every two to three weeks at the same time of day. It's amazing what you learn about your self and your body when you begin to be hyper-vigilant about how…
  • Try eating breakfast out. Veggie omelets made with Egg Beaters. No tomatoes (makes things too watery) No cheese or sour cream. Avocado - okay in moderation (sometimes) Whole wheat or rye toast - use jams/jellies - no butter. Ask for fruit - no hash browns. Pancakes with fruit toppings or syrups only - no butter. Thai food:…
  • Hello Claire, What a great work ethic and show of commitment! It will all pay off, you'll see. My schedule is never the same each month either - between work, church committees, board meetings, and regular married life, I find myself exercising whenever I can fit it in - 5:00 am, 1:00 pm or sometimes right before I go to…
  • This sounds like a dessert - but its breakfast cereal. Layer items in your bowl in this order: 1/2 cup lowfat granola 1 small sliced banana 1/2 (small 6 oz container) fat free vanilla yogurt just a sprinkle of more granola 1/2 cup sliced strawberries, or blueberries, or blackberries, peach, whatever The rest of the yogurt…
  • If you can't decided between the Makoto Ginger Dressing & Garlic Expressions...know this.... If you normally have two tablespoons of dressing on your salad then the Ginger Dressing is the better choice when it comes to calories and fat grams.
  • Hello Cocoa, I'd ask a trainer or gym attendant to help you with the elliptical settings. It's best when you get help setting it right the first time. :flowerforyou:
  • Hello angl1216! If you can afford it, buy a very good aged balsamic vinegar, that is richer and a bit thicker than the less expensive brands. Usually the taste is bold and full with less bite, but more flavor, especially if you get one infused with something special. I then add LOTS of herbs and spices, but no OIL. Here's…
  • Hello muimuimui Are you sure it is the actual nut that is tempting you or the convenience of grabbing something convenient, accessible, and crunchy. Try other small grab-able foods like, grapes, or grape tomatoes, pre-measured packs of spicey/herbed popcorn (no butter or oil), dried fruit chucks, etc. Too much of even a…

  • Fresh grapes and dried fruits are very portable. I like dried mango, pear, apricots. The flavors are more intense so you can nibble more slowly. And I agree with "aliciakarver". Find a good recipe for homemade seasoned/spiced popcorn. Don't forget the big purse. :flowerforyou:
  • I make smoothies for my breakfast at least three times per week. The rule of thumb is: 3 parts fruit, 1 part veggie greens = you won't taste the greens much at all. Vanilla yogurt adds protein and even more creamy sweetness.
  • Hello Cherie2304, IF your cake mix originally called for milk and eggs, then the nutrition information on the box would not be correct. Thus the number of calories in your calculation would be off.
  • You're right shaleah77. I have two grinders. One for coffee, and the other for flaxseeds.

  • Remember flaxseed oil - is an oil - so a tablespoon is well over 100 calories and it does not contain the fiber benefits of the seed . Oh!....and don't heat the oil or it will breakdown and lose all it's nutrition. If your diet can afford an extra 100+ calories here and there - go ahead with a tablespoon with your meals.…

  • Just in case you missed it. This was a very good explanation by member "Banks". Thanks, Banks! "I still see many people that are confused or "question" the idea of eating your exercise calories. I wanted to try (as futile as this may turn out to be) to explain the concept in no uncertain terms. I'll save the question of…

  • Momma2boys0609, I recommend printing out your last few weeks food and exercise diary and bringing it to your physician or nutritionist. There maybe something else going on with you physically that needs attention. Please don't compromise your health - stay healthy for your boys. They need and love you. AND....you are their…

  • Thanks everyone. I will try adding more soy and possibly more dense whole grain or sprouted bread. I'm thinking that maybe dried fruits will also give me nutrient-filled calories without a lot of fat.
  • For the last month I've stayed at or under my fat gram goals, so I no longer eat too much fat. I eat most of my veggies raw, in soup, or grilled.
  • 1. Don't show up to any meal starving. 2. Keep fruits and veggies that travel well in your purse and snack on them periodically. a. Grapes - always juicy (even at room temp) b. Carrots - 1 or 2 medium, unpeeled but washed (peeled carrots are too wet) c. Fuji Apple - always crisp and juicy (even at room temp) d. Low Fat…
  • Remember - weight bearing exercise builds bone mass - women need to build bone mass as we get older to avoid osteoporosis.
  • Try to look up the fat grams in an item BEFORE you eat it. Butter, nuts, regular oily salad dressings, ice cream all contain too much fat. Although nuts are good for you, they still contain A LOT of fat. Eat them sparingly.
