So very proud of you for being a wonderful daughter. No doubt your constant supervision and urging him to change his lifestyle, and your mom's praying has helped to bring about these positive reports..... I will be praying for him....

I always make a deal with myself to hit the gym early in the mornings so I can bank extra calories just in case of a mishap. Or I try to find stuff to do that involves a LOT of walking, that way while I am eating, I am walking as well. Like a festival or something.

apples or celery sticks with a tablespoon of peanut butter. Pita chips with hummus, some grapes and cheese slices (hard cheeses have less fat), weight watchers toffee bar sundae are my favorites... I also like to take a 1/2 cup of vanilla fat free frozen yogurt and crunch up a couple of reduced fat chips ahoy cookies in t…

I'm so happy to hear you and your hubby are doing this together. This kind of lifestyle works so much better when the ones we love are involved and supportive. you are so smart to take it slow...Glad to see you're blogging.....

I have heard good things about Wendler's 5/3/1 plan. Did it work well for you?

I agree with this advice. First of all - think of how much space one pound of fat is, and compare that to one pound of lean muscle. Depending on the type of exercise that you are doing, you could be transforming your body into more dense muscle mass and it could be a little while before you see a decrease in numbers, yet…

Hey - i noticed you said you eat a lot of fruit. I LOVE fruit....Especially grapes, oranges and apples, but you have to be careful...They are LOADED with sugar - and the calories can be a bit high. I started pairing up a fruit snack with a bit of protein. Cracker Barrel cheese has several pre-sliced varieties. 3 slices is…

Leila, Please fell free to add me if you want to. We can encourage each other. I know it seems hard. I'm not a fitness guru, either. IN fact, this week is the first time I have been to the gym more than two times in a week in years...and YEARS! But I am great at fitting little bits of exercise in the oddest of places. Last…

Ok...Ok... You guys win. I was going more for the water facts tan the COKE stuff. I mean, I like coke stuff too, but if water actually benefits the bodies in more ways than coke, than it makes sense to grab that. Just trying to be helpful..... :blushing:

O.K. First of all, I understand. My BMI is 44, which is not good either. Can I tell you that the reason I think they may be refusing to help you is that with a BMI of 61, you need help, but there are medical concerns with people that have BMI's as high as yours. With medical concerns come certain liabilities - which scares…

Hi. If you are trying to lose weight, and you eat too few calories, it can actually push your body into a starvation mode and you will not lose weight. Make sure you try to eat your allotted calories every day, as close as you can so that you can ensure you are getting good nutrition and you can maintain your energy…

We just befriended each other, but I just want to say good luck on your journey. I will do whatever I can to help you stay motivated.

Please feel free to add me..... I would love to be one of the people that not only encourages you, but gets encouragement from you. As for starting a new page, it hardly seems necessary - you have already recommitted to this. You could use the old page as a tool to help you remember how it felt when you quit. I did the…

Also - I like the way MFP makes you more aware of your intake vs outgo. It has really helped me to spend those calories more wisely, or up my exercise levels when I do make a bad choice.

Didn't know this. It's never taken me but a few minutes to log my entries, even an entire recipe, but now it will be even quicker.

Hey - I just looked, and cleaning house, preparing meals, mowing, yard work, etc can count. Just look them up under cardio. Also, shopping, if you are walking can count as walking - just choose the walking speed that accurately fits (most of us don't walk through the grocery store at 5.0 mph) lol.... Good luck. I have been…

I clean my house everyday for 30 - 45 minutes. I have kids and pets and there is simply no way around this. Also, I mow my yard, pushing, once a week, wash my car, etc. Daily activities that most of us do. If you look under the cardio options, cleaning is listed; i think you have two choices - light and vigorous and it…
