  • Hi WifeOf, realize you've already been through the cycle now, but wanted to check in and see how things turned out. Hope the s/e weren't too bad! Have you tested yet? Fx that you got a BFP!
  • Awesome and inspiring!! Happy 2 years!
  • I've given myself a range, which actually is 4 lbs either way.
  • You can have your diary adjusted by looking up breastfeeding under food and add the 500 calorie entry to your food log (I used to add it to breakfast). Alternatively you can manually enter it as one of your exercises as 500 calories burned. You'll just need to add it once manually then it will show up in your list to add…
  • I have PCOS and lost the majority of the weight on my ticker without metformin. However I did go on it last month and feel like it might have accelerated my movement in losing the last few pounds. It's not a miracle diet drug, but it does apparently help some people with Insulin Resistance who otherwise struggle with…
  • Are you on the XR version or just regular met? The extended release (XR) is supposed to be easier on the system, so might want to ask for it if you are not already on it. Also, echo others, definitely try to take it with food if it's really doing a number on you and at the same time of day for consistency until your system…
  • I've done C25k twice now and loved it both times. After the most recent time I've kept going and now am doing a 10k training program for a race in late August. Good luck!

  • Bumping for reference.
  • What a great NSV! Well done.
  • It can be very hard to lose with PCOS. I would explore going on metformin. Some ladies have found it aids weight loss, but results very because it is not a weight loss drug. I've lost most of my weight without it, mostly trying to cut out the main carb of my late meal (ie no pasta, rice, or potato for dinner I replace it…
  • Sounds like you have a good plan there. "In Place of a road Map"'s spreadsheet offers an option to eat "for future you". Which is at 5% lower than your goal TDEE if I remember rightly. The spreadsheet also helped me in calculating my TDEE and future TDEE. You might want to check out the group at…
  • This DVD has the potential to really kick my butt. I've not been brave enough yet to do more than 3 circuits at a time. I alternate days, do 2 circuits on days I run or do other exercise (usually 60 mins of lighter bike riding) and three circuits on a no cardio day. This is every other day plus 2 more days of running (one…
  • Hi Traci, Best of luck to you. Hopefully the weight loss will be the key again for you this time for TTC. Feel free to add me if you want support.
  • You might want to actually build in a run / walk interval into your race, just to save you some headache. I did a 10k race a few years ago without training working a 2 minute run 1 minute pattern and survived. Of course my time was atrocious, but I finished it.
  • I have an MPA and needed it to get into my current job. Of course I'm still basically a paper pusher, but I have a few nice perks that probably wouldn't have been available with just the undergrad degree.
  • Wow, you have major will power. Sprinkling baby dust for you while you wait.
  • I second using Hal Higdon. I used his program while training for my first half a few years ago and now am back with him on a 10k intermediate program.
  • I echo what PPs have said about PCOS realizing itself in different ways for different people. I have not gone low carb, though I do not eat alot of white bread / rice and am losing. What I think works for me best is the focus on exercise. If I don't exercise I don't lose weight even at a deficit. Best of luck to you. Hope…
  • I'm 5'4.75". SW 170 CW 149 LTG 25% BF My main focus of my weight loss is to help my body get pregnant with the help of fertility meds this time if possible. My first goal was to hit 155, then it was to lose 10%, which I've accomplished. I'm about to hit the "healthy" bmi range (the next goal), then I'll look to go for 138,…
  • People made some comments at about 15 lbs loss, but have been particularly effusive on how "skinny" I am now this week at 20 lbs loss. I too lose in my face first though, so that might be part of it.
  • Well I've lost 11% body weight this year and started what seemed like a normal period 9 days ago. Hoping that maybe with the weight loss and the summer (I have much more regular periods in the summer months for some reason, but not sure if that correlates to me oing) I will actually ovulate this cycle. Fingers crossed and…
  • For me, I think adding the exercise really is the key. I've read a lot about how it is recommended for those of us with PCOS. I eat somewhere between 1600 - 1800 calories a day and try to workout 5-6 times a week and have been able to lose a respectable 20 lbs since March. I have not really been focused on my macros that…
  • I'm trying to lose weight in hopes that it will make it easier to conceive (we are actively trying to conceive atm). I'm actually now 20 lbs lighter than when I got pregnant with my 14 month old son, but hoping this time we can do it the natural way rather than having to go through infertility. However I'm super impatient…
  • I know I'm a little late to this party, but found it interesting and thought I'd add my two cents. I'm 5'4" and weighed in at 152 this morning (though won't update MFP until Monday's official weigh / measure in). I started really using mfp at 166 in Mid-March. I've been happy with my losses, especially since I started…
  • Inspiring. Way to go!
  • Thanks so much for this, really timely for me. I bummed myself out over the weekend when I went up in weight eating at around what I thought will be my maintenance calories, worrying that maintenance for me was going to be lower. But of course what you say makes loads of sense. Also, PPs are right it's not about the scale,…
  • Way to go. Inspiring results for a fellow 5'4" - er.
  • Hello as pp noted PCOS is often a different animal. There are a couple of groups here that focus on the struggle with weight loss for those of us who have PCOS focusing particularly on low carb, low sugar eating, and getting moving (walking is a great thing if you're not a big exerciser). I've been lucky enough to see…
  • Congratulations. I second the previous posters who mention getting the all clear from your doctor before you do major exercise. I started walking every day while I was on maternity leave little by little with my bub in the stroller. At first I could only go around the block but everyday got easier and I could go longer and…
  • Great job, looking good!
