  • How'd you do? I didn't cook at all :( and my groceries are still sitting in the fridge. I did make $108 at a yard sale on Saturday. I also ran three times and on other days I was hauling/moving heavy boxes downstairs, then into and out of a garage, then into my car, then out of my car at the donation site. For this week, I…
  • Finally made it to the grocery store after work. Unfortunately that means I'm eating dinner when I should be sleeping. Tomorrow should be fun. I did run/walk for the first couch to 5k step today.
  • I ordered take out breakfast this morning. :\ I've been carrying around my grocery list for over a week now. Need food. Can't seem to find the time to get to the store since I'm either busy or too tired. :(
  • My main goal here is to form new healthy eating habits. I'm not overweight but I make poor food choices and am out of shape. I want to gain muscle mass and build up my stamina to be able to run a whole mile. I currently can only breathe for about two minutes into running.
  • My goal is to gain muscle mass, learn to eat and cook healthy, and build my stamina to run a whole mile. I tried running/jogging two days ago and I lasted two minutes before my throat started burning.

  • I think what helped for me was finding another favorite beverage to replace soda. Water is ideal but when I started to quit soda, that was the last thing I wanted. My beverage of choice was obviously chocolate milk. :) You'll be amazed that I have since replaced that with water. I haven't had chocolate milk in almost a…
  • Hi, I'm Kasey, 4'9" and I could actually stand to gain a couple pounds of muscle. I don't eat healthy and I couldn't run a mile to save my life. My goal is to eat healthier and start exercising for at least 10 minutes 5 times a day. I'm going to be trying out the Couch to 5k program.

  • It's November! I guess we should check in on Saturdays with our intentions for the week and an update about our progress. This week, my healthy habit is to go grocery shopping for healthy food because ordering take-out has become a habit lately. I'm actually going to cook something. :) I over-did it with attempting to run…
  • Good luck! You can do it! I used to drink soda all the time in high school but after finding out about my gallstones, I quit. It wasn't easy but it's amazing how long it's been and how I can hardly tolerate having soda nowadays.
  • I'm going to be trying this Health and Wealth Challenge in November: http://www.bloglovin.com/frame?post=3649966285&group=0&frame_type=a&blog=5068185&frame=1&click=0&user=0
  • I don't need support, I need a kick in the butt! :)
  • Haha, I've tried finding the Q-80 gym because I wanted to try the zumba class there. I got some bad directions and couldn't find it. I think I know where it is now and want to try again to find it after the new year. Perhaps two heads are better than one when it comes to finding the Q-80 gym? I've been here for a year and…
  • My husband is in the Navy. We've been here for about a year and a half and we'll probably be here until 2015. Have you been to any of the gyms on base?
  • I'm in Norfolk too! How long have you been in the area?
  • Thanks ladies! The Christmas party was last night. Ugly sweater contest sounds fun!
  • Are there any other bases near you? The base my husband is attached to here has zumba during the day but there's another local base that offers it later in the early evening. I've been wanting to try out zumba but I couldn't find the gym (was given bad directions) last week and now I've developed some dizziness/balance…
  • Anything with a good beat!
  • Congratulations to you and your husband. I've been married for less than a year and a half. My husband is also E4 in the Navy and has his first underway in September. Not sure how long he will be gone, but I'm not looking forward to it. I would suggest finding another workout buddy or maybe see if they offer cardio classes…
  • I've heard for women it's 20g but MFP has my goal at 26g. I've also heard that it's ok to have more but you should keep it under 40g. I have a hard time consuming less than 40g usually. So much sugar in everything!

  • I recently started blogging and was calculating each individual ingredient and it was rather time consuming. But then my friend recommended this site for tracking food. You can just do a search and most things are already on here. Saves me a lot of time!
  • I figured it would be mostly wives. I'm just getting back into working out after a several year hiatus. Zumba and Tae-bo would probably kick my butt...but I'd feel more comfortable taking a class than just jumping into the equipment. I'm 4'9" and using equipment can be a challenge.
  • There's supposed to be a zumba class at the Q80 gym...have you tried that out? I want to, but I am apprehensive about going to the gym alone.
  • I've been in Norfolk for almost a year and haven't utilized any of the gyms on base. There's supposed to be a zumba class at the Q-80 gym...anyone ever been to that? Wouldn't mind finding a buddy to walk or work out with...Never been to Mt. Trashmore.
  • When will you be in Norfolk? I've been here (Norfolk) for almost a year and still haven't tried out any of the gyms on the bases out here. Need the courage of a friend!
  • Hi Shanon, I'm in Norfolk too. My husband is older as well. He joined two years ago and turned 30 this year.
  • Anyone else in Norfolk?
  • Hi, I'm Kasey, 27. My husband is in the Navy. I'm currently in Norfolk and would love to find other military wives in the area and make some friends. I'm on this site not to lose weight, but to eat healthier and get into shape. Too used to eating processed foods and just recently started cooking and blogging about it…
  • Good luck! Get a blender and some fruits and veggies. Smoothies are a healthy snack to have after working out. It might help you to plan out your meals for each day to stick to the 1200 calories. Maybe try to find a friend to work out with? It makes working out more fun. If you have a break at work, go for a walk. Park…
  • Consider finding a friend to exercise with or join a group class at your local gym, or even a dance class if you like that kind of thing.
