  • Thank you! Tone such a buzz word.. Do some planks, leg raises, russian twists (just to name very, very few ab exercises), eat squeaky clean and do some cardio. And yes, if you're in a calorie deficit consistently, any abs you've built from your ab exercises will start to show through :)
  • I'm about 5'8 and when i'm 'cutting' i generally eat between 1500-1800 calories/day, and do not eat back exercise calories. Oddly enough, I was my 'leanest' and had amazing muscles when i was eating 3000 calories a day, but doing 1 hour of cardio /1 hour of weights per day. I don't think i would recommend that extreme…
  • In not so many words ;) Basically MFP 'adds back' what you have burnt in cardio, so that if you have a day you exercise, you get to eat that same amount extra. If you have a day you don't exercise, you just eat the 1200, or whatever your normal number is. Or at least that's what i'm guessing it's telling you to do?
  • greek yogurt (try to get plain and put your own fruit in, or there's A LOT of sugar in it) protein shake cottage cheese almonds, sunflower seeds, etc chick peas
  • Love it! I don't think my definition of 'hot' for a chick fits most women's definition of hot, so i do it to be healthy, and to get ripped (I like lifting those heavy weights lol)! ;) And yes, the good body is supposed to be the by-product of living the 'healthy' way, or something to that effect ;)
  • I could count the number of drinks i've had in the past 2 years on my fingers and toes (I would say almost half was this past holiday season with wine).. I don't worry about the calories since i have so few drinks, but if i have a set goal i have to reach, i won't have any until after the time/goal has come and past. Maybe…

  • Agreed that it is important to eat protein at regular intervals during the day and hit your macro by the end of the day. I will have a good chunk after a workout (approx 35-40g) plus a fast digesting carb (and again, a rather BIG chunk of carb is optimal). After a workout muscles need fuel for recover and repair. There is…
  • Pretty darn good as a tortilla/wrap replacement.. Well, no tortilla, but way less carbs anyway ;)
  • Hammer curls great for the brachioradialis.. As well, this is killer: http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/WristFlexors/CBRollerWristFlexion.html I have found 1 gym in my travels that has a machine for that 'wrist roller' and it's pure evil..
  • Yeaaaah buddy!
  • Squats, deads, lunges (I particularly like reverse lunges), step-ups, weighted hip thrusters to name a few of the ones i like.

  • I weight myself every monday morning before eating/drinking anything. I will not have a heavy carb dinner (generally speaking) the night before, and make sure to keep my sodium in check, otherwise i will weigh more due to water retention.
  • Lift first to use glycogen/carb stores, then when you get on the ol' treadmill for some cardio you're going to *technically* burn more specifically fat. As well, i lift weights first because that is when I have the most energy and am less likely to hurt myself. I would suggest as well (i'm not sure what your weight…

  • Lemon is acid absolutely (in the grand scheme of things, a weak acid), but during digestion, it changes to having very alkalizing properties. http://www.livestrong.com/article/498141-can-adding-lemon-juice-water-make-water-alkaline/
  • The lemon is amazing for helping to alkalize your body, is much needed by people who eat/drink lots of acidic things. Lemon also helps to stimulate digestion. Try putting ginger in as well, and it will be anti-inflammatory, as well ;) Worst case scenario, you're getting a pretty yummy drink that has some vitamins and…
  • I've lifted weights 'seriously' for at least the past 6 years. I've been squatting through most of it. I used to be scared to do any weight. I currently do around 150 lbs for reps. If anything, my legs have gotten smaller over the years as i've put on LBM as opposed to fat. My legs are naturally big, but unless you're…
  • If someone actually LOVES you, they won't say hurtful things like 'i don't want to touch you' or 'i don't like your body'. There is nothing wrong with a nice push in a 'healthy direction' as in 'i'm worried about your health' etc imo. Your weight isn't the issue, he is the issue. I personally wouldn't want to be in a…
  • I don't know if i just don't understand the exercise, or if i'm being picky.. but is this not an exercise for quads and adductors/abductors?
  • 1 planned 'guilt-free' meal per week. if you don't have the willpower to get back on track after that one meal, i would say don't do it until you are at the point you do have the willpower.
  • You have to lose fat overall through having a calorie deficit (cardio and clean eating). That is what will make your arms 'thin out' If You want them to look 'toned' you have to lift weights. And by this i mean NOT the lightest weight possible, you have to lift some HEAVYweights. You will not make your arms bigger, they…
  • Ok, those things i will agree with, though i would still prefer a person to take the bar from somewhere else (my gym has but one squat rack, it's a hot commodity) ;)
  • I am veggie, pretty much the only animal product i still use is small amounts of cream and feta cheese. That being said, I try to stay away from 'pre-made vegetarian food' as much as possible, although it isn't always possible, especially when you are trying to hit a protein macro. For my protein I generally have organic,…
  • Don't do anything in the squat rack but squats!! ;) For deads please use the bar from the benchpress... ;) For real, clean your equipment after use, don't steal equipment (ask to work in, and if they say no, they're pretty much a jerk) , don't throw the weights down (unless on an olympic platform), and (i know this is…
  • My true love is lifting weights. But playing squash, ultimate frisbee, basketball, and doing intervals are (to me) super fun, and great at burning calories ;)
  • People who do cardio for hours on end every day are 'doing cardio wrong', but is that even really doing cardio 'wrong' per say? I think a person needs to do a certain amount of cardio (i personally do 30 minutes, 6 days per week, mixing steady state and HIIT), but i think there should be a focus on weight training and…
  • Maybe try bodyrock? 12 minutes of hell, but a pretty darn awesome workout. At the gym, i don't go on cardio machines anymore (ok, i do sometimes, but i prefer other forms of cardio) - i get too bored as well. It's all about weights and intervals, that, to me, is heaven ;)
  • Agreed with all, "Abs are made in the kitchen" - no word of a lie ;) I haven't met a person with epic abs and obliques who doesn't eat squeaky clean! ;) BUT, I also agree that if you want abs, you have to have some muscle underneath the 'top layer' that will show through once that layer is gone. I personally do not like…
  • Yup, I see a crazy change! For progress pix I take 1 every month, exact same stance, exact same outfit (bathing suit, make that). I do 3 shots - front, back and side, and always in the morning before eating food or drinking anything ;) I'm slightly OCD. :P
