Gyms are not for me ...

Yet again ...My sister convinced me to join a gym .
So we would go together, She lives kinda far ..so we are just not able to go often.
I go there hop on a treadmill/bike/ and I'm bored out of my mind.
This specific gym does not have aerobic classes ( Jettts)
I rather pop a Turbo Fire o Zumba DVD at home ...sweat shower and I'm done.
I feel like pitiful hamster at the gym ...
gyms are not for me...

I do Zumba for the Wii! Although today was the first day in a year since I've done it, it's still a great workout. And no one can see what a fool I'm making of myself. =p0

I hate cardio myself and very rarely do it for more than 12 minutes after lifting. Suggestion: - lift weights.0

I feel your pain. I'm far too socially awkward even when I'm *in* my element, much less somewhere where I'd already be super uncomfortable like a gym.0

If the gym's not for you then quit and workout in a way that you enjoy. Torturing yourself with something you dislike is never going to be sustainable long term.
Try other things too. I joined the gym last June doing mostly treadmill/elliptical. I got bored after just a couple of weeks so switched to doing 30 mins strength training and 30 mins cardio, but soon got bored again (dreading the cardio portion every time) and changed up again to 10 mins cardio and 50 mins strength training. I finally started enjoying my workouts.
Then last month I bought myself some weights and basic gym equipment and quit my membership to workout at home and I love it!0 -

She is. And incredibly supportive and motivating.0 -
I enjoyed going to the gym but with going to work and school I didnt feel like it was fair to leave my daughter in someone elses care any more time during the day once dont with those things. Its hard to just head to the gym with you have a little one to take care of at home. I ended up scouting craigs list and bought an elliptical so I can use it at home and no have to worry about childcare or leaving the house. I can just workout and then jump right in the shower. Maybe thats an option for you?0

I have always hated gyms; the monotony of the exercises, people's BO, people not wiping down the machines after they're done, germs in confined spaces especially during the winter time.. :indifferent: To me, exercise is fun when there is variety or when I feel like I'm learning something. I will be taking hip hop classes as of next week which should be interesting. I really like dance classes, I took Reggae Dancehall in the fall and it was so much fun. I recently started Turbo Fire and I love it so far! I will be doing a TF/Chalean Extreme hybrid eventually. I also have a couple of other Beach Body programs, like Shaun T's Rockin' Body (lots of dancing  )
You should do what works for you and what you find enjoyable. I have a friend who loves hitting up the treadmill and elliptical at the gym and it seems to work for her, however I know that wouldn't keep me motivated in the long run. To each their own.0 -
To me gyms are for weightlifting or for classes. I'm not surprised you're bored if you're just doing cardio, I'd be the same, I love my DVDs for cardio. Have you thought of trying weights? No need to waste a good membership.0

Remember that "Gym" is short for "Gyames".0

Maybe try bodyrock? 12 minutes of hell, but a pretty darn awesome workout. At the gym, i don't go on cardio machines anymore (ok, i do sometimes, but i prefer other forms of cardio) - i get too bored as well. It's all about weights and intervals, that, to me, is heaven0

I actually love the gym. I love the atmosphere of everyone working out. Although I do have a workout buddy and we both push each other hard. Having a gym buddy definitely helps0
