Cool job.

Yes, 30 squats. Try it with weights though, you will get better results with the muscle building/toning.

Ah I have family over there, visited many times. Last time was to San Franscisco with my wife, plus a road trip up to Napa. Lovely part of the world. What are you doing that keeps you up so late, studying or working?
-
Ouch, where are you in the world? I am near London, England.
-
Well it's nearly 11am here, what do you want to talk about?
-
You will get lots of replies from more qualified people, but in general they will mostly say "lift heavy if you want to tone". You can do body weight exercises if you don't have your own weights or belong to a gym. But the best things I have found since I hit maintenance have been free weights. Simple things like squats…

I would guess that English is not the OPs first language, so I don't expect there is anything sinister in the "prevent" wording. I've sent a friend request too.

Talk about your mind playing tricks on you. I visualised myself wearing a higher grade martial arts belt but then panicked when I couldn't find it in my bag! I hadn't passed it yet :)

Weather report is excellent for the weekend, so maybe you can get your bike out and enjoy the sunshine.

I felt myself starting to get a cold last year and again in February this year, but both times I powered through it with lots of cardio. I found getting hot and bothered and eating well seemed to stop it in its tracks. I got some minor symptoms but it never developed. Probably too late for you though. Some chicken soup and…

I've found that I can't drink during the week any more due to very early starts. I save it for the weekend, but then usually don't bother as I have to drive a lot and there's no point having just one drink. I can't remember the last alcohol I had and I don't miss it. I plan a binge on the summer solstice though, at a beer…

I'll drop you a friend request, cos I can remember all that as well as David Hemery doing dips on the bars, Tomorrow's World and riding a Tomahawk bike ;)

Congrats, you have summed up my approach really. I found the bread and pasta made me very sluggish. Keep it up!

I have enjoyed doing Stronglifts 5x5 and would consider it heavy lifting. It is designed to be slow progress, so it will take a few weeks to get to the stage where you might consider it a struggle for some of the the lifts. But once you get there it is quite hard work. I am barely at 150lbs on deadlifts and squats and…

I do strength training in the morning before work and you're right it always makes me hungry. But the same day, not the next day. Annoyingly, I find cardio seems to suppress it, so I generally go back to the gym at lunchtime for a quick 30 minute session on the stairmaster or elliptical. Drinking lots of water helps too.…

I Fought the Law by the Clash.

I do the same every morning, but like you said it is good carbs so don't stress as long as it fits in your macros. I've found my overall health is better and things that men never normally notice (like nails and skin) are improved. It's definitely better to have the greens than not to have them. I tend to load up the…

Mine's open and I am in Herts. Knock yourself out, but I have a high boredom threshold when it comes to food, so tend to repeat the same meals a lot, especially at lunchtime. Best of luck!

The first time I heard of Marfan Syndrome was on reading the autopsy report on my best friend, who was undiagnosed. So I know a little about it and hope you can manage your condition. I found what looks like a good support forum here http://forum.marfan-forum.org.uk/

Have a look at my diary, I do myself a shake or smoothie every morning and add whey protein powder (at the moment strawberry flavour). I have some strange combinations, like kale, spinach, banana and raspberries. They all taste good though and frankly it is a way of getting greens that I would never eat otherwise. Fill me…

I haven't tried them personally, but years ago I did Slimfast shakes and was ravenous all the time, great for rapid weightloss but not sustainable. There seems to be quite a lot of sugar in these, maybe just some protein shakes would be better. There are plenty of flavoured versions.

Milk or whey protein helps the muscles recover, if you drink it within 30 minutes of exercise. It's more typically used in strength training, but it certainly should help the legs recover.

Sent you a friend request :)

Well that's a bit....disturbing. But happy to give support if I can :)

I had a bad day today too. Struggled with the weights and just wasn't feeling the cardio so I binned it after 15 minutes and tried a machine I've only used once before. Same as you, nothing has changed in my routine. I'll just chalk it up to a bad day and try again tomorrow. Still burned some calories so can't complain…

^^^ This is same for me too. I was going three times a day before and now it is once, maximum.
-
Oooooh! Now I get it! Thanks so much for that, I changed it as you suggested and it looks like I more or less in the zone. I may need to increase my fat intake a bit, but otherwise I seem to be doing it more or less right, what a relief. Cheers again DirtyCurves

I am using MFP default, but have been advised (in another thread) to get my protein up to 1 gram per pound of body weight. I am managing that fine, but the other macros are suffering as a result. ETA: they are set at 254 carbs, 62 fat and 69 protein. As I say, I am getting more than double the protein currently.

My sincere apologies for that comment, it was thoughtless and you're right, very snobbish.
