Those hitting macros - can I see your diary?

This is a bit of a cheeky question, but if you're getting there or thereabouts to your macros do you mind opening your diary so I can see how you do it? I feel it is like driving a supertanker, if I overcompensate in one area like protein then I don't have enough calories left to correct the under consumption of carbs and fat. An example is eating nuts for their fat and protein content, but they are higher in calories so I have less to use on other things.
I am swinging wildly back and forth trying to get it right, but thought "well somebody must have sussed it". If anyone could oblige I would really appreciate it.
Many thanks
JB

What are your macro goals?
Have you set them or are you using MFP default?0 -
I am using MFP default, but have been advised (in another thread) to get my protein up to 1 gram per pound of body weight. I am managing that fine, but the other macros are suffering as a result.
ETA: they are set at 254 carbs, 62 fat and 69 protein. As I say, I am getting more than double the protein currently.0 -
Any time you increase one macro you have to decrease somewhere else. Go to the "goals" tab and choose to custom set your macros. Change the protein % till it shows he amount you want for goal. MFP will automatically take from the fat macro to balance the cals but I prefer to take it from carbs so I manually set that aswell.
I look at protein and fat as minimums and the carbs as maximums, they just fill in the rest. Unless it's a cheat day in which case I don't care where my macros end up.0 -
I'm pretty sure mine is open. I get close sometimes.0

Oooooh! Now I get it! Thanks so much for that, I changed it as you suggested and it looks like I more or less in the zone. I may need to increase my fat intake a bit, but otherwise I seem to be doing it more or less right, what a relief.
