Basically some healthy fats will really help you out: Peanut butter Avocado Olive oil in homemade dressings or use it to cook your foods. (not pam) nuts: Peanutes, cashews, pistacios, pecans, walnuts ect Healthy carbs: Sweet potatoes Rice Throw a side dish of sweet potatoes or rice into a meal, you easily add 200 calories.…

Not bad. Especially if you have calories left... that whole don't eat past 7 thing is to prevent people from eating too much when they are bored. But if you are in a deficit still and/or hungry for a healthy snack... go for it. On the other hand, if you are bored and not really hungry... you need to drink some water/tea…

Only gonna bump this once for the night time people! :)

I aint gonna say anything that hasn't already been said. But here are the facts IMO. -You gotta eat enough to keep yourself out of starvation mode in order to lose weight. -Swimming (unless you are seriously swimming for the length of time you say in your workouts) is a highly overestimated calorie burn on MFP based on my…

Hey new friend. :)

And to think all I want to do is go from 290-190. You are my inspiration. For the next year, as I lose this weight I will think of your story each day. When I don't want to do it, I will push even harder. If you could go through so much... thinking you may never walk again and then push with so much strength that you now…

There are so many awesome low-carb foods you can eat. What kind of food do you like? I have ideas for low carb tacos, burgers, pasta, ice cream, desserts. I REALLY recommend checking out the youtube channel of this guy: bowulf He lost TONS of weight on Atkins, was featured in magazines, published a book, and is a marathon…

Of course. Weight loss is simply calories in/calories out. You eat less than you burn and you will lose weight. Of course you need to make sure you are getting enough protein, fat too... not all carbs when you eat "what you want in the correct serving" if you want results.
-
-Eat lean meats (chicken, 99/1 ground beef/turkey ect.) Each serving has minimal fat and about 100-150 calories and 25-30g protein) -Make a protein shake with almond milk and whey protein. (Almond milk is no fat, whey is no fat. 1 cup almond like and 1 scoop of whey is about 150 calories and 25g protein. -fat free cheese,…

Yes Yes Yes. Once a week on weigh in day... (Friday for me). And it is at night for dinner/dessert and usually planned. I like to cheat for dinner and my partner likes to cheat for dessert so we cheat together and satisfy those cravings to make it though the rest of the week.

No- you don't NEED them. You don't have to drink them if you don't want to. They wont add/take away anything if you nurtition is already on point. Just get your macros in. As a matter of personal opinion though... they are awesome. And homemade ones are really much better than the premade ones if you do it right. (Although…

No sugar and no meat. You need TONS of veggies. Look up juice diets to get some ideas. I watched a documentary about a guy who lost 100 pounds eating 1500 cals a day of just veggie (and some fruit) juice made in a juicer. I would guess you are eating sugar in the form of fruit since you had apple sauce so eat some high cal…

I know it can get soooo bland! Here are two of my SIMPLE ways to spice it up... of course it adds calories (but minimal in my mind.) -Steam it and throw on about 25 cals of shredded cheese (or whatever amount you prefer) I used to order salmon and broccoli at chilis and that is how they served it. Even parmesean cheese…

I'm down! :) 24, losing 100pds. Goal is to build muscle, lose fat.

Hey Zoe, I am highly motivated too. Looking to lose 100 pounds. My plan is to workout: I have a spin bike and some weights for my strength training. And to eat healthy: by staying within my calorie range, focusing on eating healthier *clean* foods as much as possible. Common sense approach to weight loss from this woman.…

For me it is all about control. Even though you CAN make your own protein bars, I think most people are more likley to make their own protein shakes. Which means that protein shakes can become more controled than say a pre-made protein bar. I used to buy the "OH-Yeah" protein bars, which were pretty good, but they have a…

Agreed. Rice is rice. Black rice is brown rice is white rice. Each level is more clean than the one before. In the end, as a carb source, you are still eating the same "rice." Just that, for example, brown rice will have more fiber than white rice. Its more preference based on what I have found in my research. Just portion…

I did Atkins for a bit and was successful but it negatively effected my cholesterol and BP. At any rate, I have the knowledge... Low carb foods are types of protein and non-starchy veggies. Think chicken, fish, turkey, lean beef, lean pork, shrimp, eggs, cheese, whey protein Veggies; salad greens, green pepper, red pepper,…

I totally agree with this post. One of my dear friends was eating similar to that... around 1000-1200 calories a day. No progress. These last two months she began to use my fitness pal, started eating 1200-1500 depending on workout outs and has been steadily watching the scale and measurements go down.

That is a tough question. I do know people who have water retention issues should make sure they are getting adequate amounts of water each day. At 1200 calories, it is always possible that you are doing one of two things. One, maybe you are not eating enough or two maybe you are eating too much. I think the best thing to…

Basically, the point of a pre-workout drink is to give your body energy to get you through the workout. I know body builders are more prone to using these things, pre-strength session. However, it is not unheard of for people to use them for cardio. Usually they consist of some type of caffeine as the booster. Personally I…

Hey Mary, I am in your weight group because I too have 100lbs to lose. I am 277 and want to get to 177. However, I am 24 which is not in the age range you were most likely looking for. But I still think we could offer each other lots of support on this similar journey we are both embarking on. As I said, I am 24, 277 and…

Very inspiring! Keep it up! I can't wait to be able to share encouragement with others as you have!

Hey, nice to meet you! I didn't realize this was available as an app... now I need to check that out. I am new to MFP, but I can see how it would be really helpful to help reach fitness goals. Good luck to you!

Sounds about right. All of the fast-canned-store in your cupboard foods came after WWII. Then in came the fast food joints. I think when people eat healthy- they do end up reverting back into the type of eating you are talking about. 100 years ago... everyone ate at home. Food was cooked and prepared there. I think this is…
