I know it can get soooo bland! Here are two of my SIMPLE ways to spice it up... of course it adds calories (but minimal in my mind.)
-Steam it and throw on about 25 cals of shredded cheese (or whatever amount you prefer) I used to order salmon and broccoli at chilis and that is how they served it. Even parmesean cheese works well.
-Or add a small amount of butter (again 25 cals worth) and salt and pepper. The basics.
Of course you should experiment with you own seasonings. I love garlic and onion powder and I have sauteed it with those seasonings. Sometimes I will use a tbs of fat free cream cheese, salt, pepper, chives and make a "cream" type sauce to mix in the broccoli.
Good luck!0 -
Roasted! I toss the florets with olive oil, salt and pepper, spread on a sheet pan and put them in the oven at 425 for about 20 minutes. I squeeze a little lemon juice over the top when I take them out, sometimes a little bit of grated parmesan cheese. The edges get crispy and they're super delicious .0
