My trainer has me mix them in on occassion and I like them alot. I have only done pretty basic movement type exercsies with them (Axe swings, around the body, figure 8s through the legs etc) but what I have done gives a good burn. My only complaint is that they (at least the ones at my gym) get pretty slick to hold onto…

My guess (because I have the same issue) is that what you are actually feeling your 'grip' failing (it starts with a pulling and pain in the forearm). You can mix in a number of exercises which help build hand / grip strength (there are even machines to help with this at some gyms). Try doing less in your first set as was…

Combination of most of the above. Largely dehydration which, incidentally, makes those already inaccurate scales even more inaccurate. If you are going to use one, always try to relatively the same hydration level when you do.

I use Calvin Klein Workout Boxer-Briefs. They are far from cheap, but are by far the best underwear I have ever owned both from a durability and comfort perspective when working out.

Massage is my favorite though depending on your health care it may or may not be an expense (you may also try to convince your significant other for a free alternative -- they are benefiting from a healthier you as well!). Other good options -- - A nice soak and read in the tub (pan the kids off on someone for the night if…

Similar to what I do though I throw in some finely ground almonds and just a splash of coconut milk to smooth it out some. Gobs of protein and very tasty!

Honestly it sounds like you can keep doing what you are doing. It is a popular myth that using targeted excises (like crunches) will help you 'target' where you lose fat, but that is simply not the case so there really isn't a reason so change to abdomen exercises (other than building core strength which is never a bad…

You've gotten good advice so far from what I can see -- I have very tight hamstrings which caused me to have similar range of motion issues when I first started and most of the suggestions you have been given are how I worked around it at the start. The important thing is that you flesh out getting your form right before…

Fast and heavy works best for me, probably my three favorites for the gym are: Bullet for my Valentine Non-point Memory of a Melody

Days I have a chest or head cold (like today!) I stick to free weights. Cardio tends to exacerbate the issue with me. Try doing some medium-heavy free weights instead.
-
This one would be my guess. I know as I go faster I tend to put more focus on my stride but at slower speeds, I get sloppy and end up taken too long of strides which causes shin pain.

I used to travel a lot for work and it definitely can be problematic. The work-outs weren't such an issue (there are a ton of good body-weight only exercises that you can use just chilling in your hotel room) but the food could be problematic. If you have the luxury of knowing where you will be (town/city etc) I cannot…

I have this old metal 'Klean Kanteen' on my desk that looks an awful lot like it has been run over by a fork-lift a few times. A couple of these + what I chug down before leaving the house in the morning usually gets me close to my 8 cups.

Toronto as well (feel free to add) -- Originally from NS though

Pretty much anything you do on a bosu is going to add a component of 'core' to the exercise (e.g. doing single arm chest press while bridging on a bosu will turn the standard press into a compound exercise engaging your core). In short, they are a great way to turn simpler movements into a more complex workout if that is…

That is some good information on Fresh and more than a little surprising! Thanks for posting. As for eating out while trying to keep the cals down, I pretty much stick to Subway or Extreme Pita and go with the assumption that any fine dining is a 'cheat day'. Obviously there are cheat days and there are CHEAT DAYS built…

This about what the 'rule of thumb' is when people start to notice. -10% of your original weight.

Well, anything you get/do is better than nothing obviously, but really a bike is very targeted as to what muscles it works. As was suggested a rowing machine works more of your body (including your core which you mentioned was one of your target areas) and is likewise compact and cheap (as far as fitness gear is…

What Ninerbuff said. Don't worry about working out in the free weight area -- you have just as much right to be there as the guys. That said, if you are inexperienced with free weights, it would be a good idea to get a couple sessions with a personal trainer or to hook up with someone at the gym that can show you the…

^^ this You may want to start with just p90 or p90x though if you aren't at a fairly advanced level of fitness. Insanity is REALLY intense.. so much so it may prove demoralizing (nothing like having the guy tell you to do 25 pull ups and you can't even do 1  ). Definitely look at he videos though, they will kick you…
