  • Krystal you are an amazing writer- and that will get you to your goal. When you put all your thoughts on paper it's easier to see what you need to do, what your obstacles are, and that you're stronger than all of those!! NO EXCUSES! Your words are exactly where I was at. Keep your sense of humor, your sense of self worth…
  • You can make the chips with salami too. I bake a big batch in the oven on a rack. Trader Joe's fresh mozzerella cheese sticks or the fresh mozzerella little balls.
  • You are on the right track- and you can do it again! Don't make decisions after only a few weeks. I agree you have to weigh on the same scale under the same conditions to compare weight. Track your measurements but don't measure too often if it will set you back if you don't reach a certain goal. Track your food and don't…
  • Keurig, digital food scale (weighs in grams) and julienne peeler
  • You have a great attitiude and lots of motivation. Your success so far will be your continued motivation. Enjoy how much better you feel and how much better clothes look on you now. Think back to when you started and how fast that time went. What helped me is I kept reminding myself that one bite of something tastes…
  • Fresh mozzarella (sticks at Trader Joe's or the little balls), sardines or kipper snacks or smoked oysters (my favorite) or smoked trout- all in cans that are easy to put in my lunch. I always thought these were disgusting but love them now- pork rinds! It's a crunchy protein and has no carbs. Almond butter- make a…
  • I made buffalo cauliflower- mix cauliflower florets (1 g total carbs/oz) with melted butter, Quaker Steak & Lube Arizona Ranch Sauce (2g carbs/oz) and Frank's Hot Sauce (0 carbs). Roast at 450 for 20-30 min. I ate mine with 1/2 serving Fage Greek Yogurt. The recipe called for yogurt in the sauce but I like to eat cold…
  • Their fresh mozzarella cheese sticks are a great snack, canned smoked trout, extra-virgin coconut oil, 72% cocoa chocolate bars- they satisfy that chocolate craving but are just bitter enough to not want very much, I usually eat 1/4 of a 1 serving bar- 70 calories. The reduced guilt pita and totilla chips, roasted red…
  • Do you listen to your favorite music while working out? Gets me through exercise.
  • It is so different, hard to explain but store bought milk doesn't tase like milk after you"ve had unprocessed milk. Raw skim milk is really white and has a great taste, not waterty. Unfortunately it is illegal to sell raw milk in our state!
  • I live on a farm and we have a family cow- drink lots of raw milk. The guys drink whole milk and I opt for skim- not much difference in taste when its not processed. So glad there's still lots of milk drinkers out there- too bad there's not more local dairies instead of the huge business farms. Not a fan of store milk but…
  • No matter what- don't stop running if everyone else around does. I ran my first 5K after training on my elliptical. The race went down High St in Columbus, OH and for some reason we were merged into 2 lanes from 4 while going uphill. Everyone started walking at that point, and I did too. I was never able to get my stride…
  • I eat cottage cheese almost every day for breakfast- with lots of cinnamon sprinkled on. I like Michigan brand, but now I cn't find it in our stores anymore. Sam's club brand and Giant Eagle brand are good too. Can't wait to try all these other good ideas!
  • My current favorites: Fage greek yogurt and chia seeds with- pommegranite arils or dried montmorency cherries and 100 cal cocoa roast almonds or blueberries and walnuts
  • Trader Joe's fresh mozz sticks 72% cocoa chocolate- satifies chocolate craving but bitter enough I only want 1/4 of a single serving bar Gerbers cheese puffs- very low in salt, sugar and calories- good too celery sticks with low fat onion chive cream cheese Fage greek yogurt with chia seeds before meals- chia seeds expand…
  • Thank you for the post. I am also doing C25K and then the Hot Chocolate 5K on the 18th. I am training on the elliptical and now feel alot more confident about my first race! Keep up the good work!
  • I would suggest nuts, whole milk, cheese, 4% cottage cheese, avocados, peanut butter, protein powder or proteins with olive oil or cocnut oil- if these fit into his eating plan. Good luck to you both.
  • Good job- it is all worth it in the end. Congratulations on your new eating practices. Stay strong- we can do this!
  • Grilled corn and avocodo salsa, in guacamole and Alton Brown's recipe using avocodo and sardines. Right now I'm putting Trader Joe's reduced guilt chunky guacamole made with greek yogurt (50% less fat and 40% less calories) on everything.
  • 6 oz 0% fat greek yogurt with cocoa roast almonds- 100 calorie pack- and 1/3 c Trader joe's dried montmorency cherries! Or Crown Prince smoked baby clams.
  • In addition to the good foods listed above: beans (high in fiber too) and soy or whey protein powder.
