Thank you for this! It actually made me tear up. I found some commonalities within your words.

I think as a fitness instructor you should not get into this business of directing people at all on psychological matters unless they confide in you that they are struggling with depression anxiety or self esteem issues. Or if a person looks really sad, you could ask them if they are ok and you can say you are concerned…

Also, keep in mind that the competitors ONLY job is to loose weight. So they work out for 8+ hours/day and have food (healthy) catered to them. So unless you can maintain the above lifestyle...SNAP OUT OF IT!!!! STOP comparing yourself to anyone else, ESPECIALLY TV!!! That's ludicris!! I know it's easy to look at everyone…

Simply AMAZING!!!! Be very proud of yourself! I'm just starting (actually re-starting...AGAIN!) and have felt like crapola! Today is day 2~!! You look amaze-balls so pat yourself on the back (as cheesy as that sounds!) cuz you ROCK sista!!!:drinker:

Great response! Thanks a bunch!!! Jen First off, I love your profile pic (made me smile) I feel the same way, except, since it is my fate to live by numbers, I'm not only a slave to my scale, but to my glucometer too :grumble: I am a *super* Crankasaurus Rex when any of my numbers are higher than my latest…

It's nice to not feel alone in my emotions. Before I go on the scale, I tell myself that it's just a number and it doesn't matter. Unfortunatley I don't believe it and therefore it bothers me, even if it is down, but isn't down what I think it should be. I agree...a number shouldn't have so much power on how someone feels,…

I love this! Made me giggle! Thanks :) What I started doing was weighing myself in a different unit. (ex. I know pounds, not kg.) So I started tracking myself with kg. When I see 100 kg on the scale I don't think "OMG! This is too much." Because I honestly have no idea what 100 kg is in pounds. But when I step on the scale…

Thanks for these tips. I needed to hear them also. Great points. I especially like #4. Jen Hi, The hardest part (at least for me it was) is to get the wheels turning - getting started a healthier lifestyle. Mind you, we are all different, but here's how I would motivate myself: 1. Get rid of the stress in your life. This…

You're not alone! I was thinking the same thing myself. I ate out saturday breakfast, lunch AND dinner. But I DID log it.

Hello, I'm 5'8 and my goal is 160 ish. But seeing as I'm still at 214 lbs, I'll have to see what I look like, closer to that goal. I also would like to keep my shape and not be stick thin. I like my curves and want to continue to look like a woman with a bootay! lol

I had that same problem...never wanted to get my arss up to workout!!! What changed you ask??? I FORCED MYELF...and before I knew it, I started a habit! I don't want to pay for a gym membership or stop at the gym before I go home. When I'm finished working an 8 or 12 hour shift, I want to go home to my kiddies...not work…

I will also look at a few options from the data base and see what the majority say to be to get a better idea to the closest cal value. Or I will also GOOGLE it to double check on the inconsistencies!

I see which selection you chose and don't know why it says that 10 grapes are 110 cals. If that was the case, personally, I'd choose the WW ice cream bar anyday. LOL. But it's not the case and actually you can have 1 cup of grapes and it's 102 cals. So now the choice is yours...(I'd still go for the ice cream; I also have…

Those are all great suggestions! Thanks a bunch!

Hi...thanks for the support! I only recently stopped getting on the scale because I was getting obsessed and then if it didn't move like I thought it should, I would get depressed and fall off the horse. I know I need to get back on the scale in order to know your progress!
-
This is kinda what I thought as well!!
-
That's kinda what I'm doing at the moment.
-
WOW thank you all for your thoughts and opinions. I will 'chill out' and not stress about all of them. LOL. From all of your posts, it would appear that CALORIES are #1 (this of course is individualized)~! and PROTEIN are a close second!! I have been hitting the gym 3-4 times/week, balancing strength/weight training with…

Thanks...that's great advice. And if I can get that body (as seen in your profile pic) then it's well worth it. lol. Thanks!
-
YOU LOOK LIKE A NEW WOMAN!! CONGRATS...YOU DESERVE IT!!

WOW thank you everyone for your support and suggestions! Eventough I know that there are obviously so many people struggling with eating (just look at the enormous community that is MFP), I still feel alone in my struggle. So I am always happy to hear I'm not alone. I hear the same thing over and over...that being "PREP…
