What are your goals? Type of workouts? Etc...

Hello. This is my first time in the forums in a long time. I heard about this thread from a good friend and thought maybe I could be of service to a "noob". I have been on MFP since summer of 2012. I have been running since spring of 2013. I have been doing yoga (specifically HOT is my favorite) since fall of 2014. What I…

Hopefully your ultra will be easier than mine. I know I wasn't ready five weeks later. I'll let you know if I'm ready after six weeks or not lol. Which are you racing?
-
Fun fun fun!!! I like the power up ones a lot. Something like "touch here for a power up/boost" usually in the last few miles. The one about smile if you aren't wearing underwear is funny and has a cousin "smile if you peed a little" lol. Any support is awesome! No's: worst parade ever, you're almost there.

I'm intrigued.

Maybe it's the shorter suffering time that has people tricked haha.

Blows kisses at Josée just in case anyone decides to throw rocks at her.

Short distance is definitely not my thing anymore but I am not a snob about it. I am slow as molasses but can run for hours so it suits me. Whatever your thing is keep at it. There's isn't a best distance in my opinion except whatever you get the most pleasure from. Predominately I hear all negative things about 26.2…

#jealous!

LOL. Yep Josée in the winter I have to have a treadmill pair ???????????? trail running can be unkind to the uppers too, but it's so fun! ????
-
Not a mile over 400, so 2 months or less. #poorsadpanda I just started this month having a 3-pair rotation vs strictly road or trail and I've heard it "can" help so we shall see. ETA: forefoot striker; the worn portion of the shoe will basically be just under the balls of my feet and the uppers potentially still look new.…

I don't know how to post any cool GIFs but you know I am so very proud of you and so lucky to have you on my FL! ❤️????????

This maybe isn't your average ultra or your average 50k. The RD highly recommends a drop bag and there are previous race requirements to run this race in the 100k distance due to intensity even though it's the same course as the 50k. I don't mind that I may be overpacked it will give me peace of mind. The frozen bottles…

Thanks for the suggestions thus far, here's what I've got done: I have an 8" x 5" x 3" hard shell glow in the dark first aid kit that I have custom packed for my race. It contains: individual packets of pain reliever, anti chafe, individual packets of sunblock, lip balm, wet wipes, trial sized tissues, every size of band…

This is a 50k but it's point to point so I just feel like I would rather be safe than sorry. If I don't end up needing anything all the better. I need to plan for sun, rain, cold. Forecast is high of 68* and thunderstorms. However it's Colorado so it could be anything lol.

I guess that's why weren't not all dead yet! Sweet! I like being alive ????????

You're running a HM in the middle of the week?
-
The only "mega" race I've done is the BolderBoulder 10k, it brings about 50,000 runners from all over the world including an entire wave of elite runners who run last so everyone can watch them. It's such an awesome experience that even though I hate that distance I love this particular race. Otherwise I run lots of small…

I only use a fair amount of fuel on trials (simulating the race) otherwise I fuel as little as possible during training runs. I usually take more than I ever could use (it's my safety net lol). P.S. I adore a things honey stinger

Copper Mountain. ???? LOL
-
LazerMole are you aware of the Fruitarian movement? Quite a number of elite athletes have gone away from simply vegan to exclusively fruit. None of them are overweight. I guess they're all exceptions to the rule...
-
Doug where'd you get that picture of me?! I'm so embarrassed!
-
Blasphemy!!!! ???? I just say warm up/cool down or easy pace. ????
-
Everyone discouraging you is just jealous of your awesomeness! It's definitely possible and the heavier the weights the better! It'll also help you resist the urge to hold on when the treadmill is going too fast to keep up. #winwin If you're going to add in the jump rope, definitely incorporate some double unders for that…
-
Eek! I don't even like when the maintenance guy at the local HS track is there when I'm running lol. Good luck Dave! I'll be cheering you on!! ????
-
Yes! I actually updated this. I kept telling myself I needed to and kept forgetting.
-
Lol @ 85*+ not recommended. Yeah I'll just take a 4 month hiatus...☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️

It's funny that my comment got a heated response. I apologize if the word "must" offended people. I personally feel compelled to thank as many volunteers as I can that I come across during an event. Not because when I volunteer I expect it but because I have run races that were poorly organized which almost always means…
-
You must thank all the volunteers because without them there would be NO event. I see so many people who don't say anything to them. Augh! #raceemployeepetpeeve

You win the internet today!!!! Seriously LOL'ing! Also stop running and start lifting obviously. Ha!
