Everyone is different, there is no formula that will take into consideration your personal body functionality. Trial and error is the best way! If you are gaining on 1600kcal, lower it, if you're maintaining on 1400kcal, lower it some more. You have to work out what YOUR body wants. It takes time but once you've got it…

I found that the more I tried the less I lost. So I've started cutting it back now. The more strain you put on your body through hard cardio the slower your thyroid function will be. I have Hashimotos also. My meds have been stable for the last almost 3 years now and I don't have a reaction to gluten that I'm aware of (though my sister has coeliac so there is probably a link somewhere!) Thank you for your comments though I appreciate it :)

Maybe this has been said before in other comments but have you worked out your BMR to see how many calories your body needs for minimal function? You could be eating too little causing your body to become a fat storer rather than a fat burner.
