  • Hi, I turned 50 last October and starting lifting weights for the first time in late March. Working with a personal trainer helped a lot. My body can handle this and in fact it's a really good idea for us gals over 50 to lift weights to help balance out the potential for bone loss. (In fact my parter, who is 49 and was…
  • I agree. Something is off here. I have a great relationship with my trainer. I work hard, she works me hard and works hard with me. She responds to emails, waves hi when I'm at the gym. We laugh and crack jokes. Since she's the total package in terms of what I need, I find I work hard to meet goals and push myself with…
  • This is my schedule. Saturday is my day off since bike ride is a pleasure. Every couple of weeks I take off a day totally based on how I feel or just to go out and do something else :) I'm finding that if I move with purpose every day, my weight does not yo-yo and I tend not to cheat with food. Monday - 30 minutes circuit…
  • Yup, me too. About 6lbs to go to goal and for the last 3 weeks I've been bouncing around with the same pound and a half. Yet despite the scale, my body is continuing to lean out. So, I keep pushing on. It's not like I'm going to be able to slack off once I get to goal. (And I expect that may be part of why the weight loss…
  • Hi gang, Cruising along in a bit of a plateau right now. However, my pants fit well and I feel stronger every day. So the scale that goes up and down on the same pound is a challenge, but I know I have to control my calories and portions to get the last pounds off. I am close to my 50 miles in one month on my bike goal. I…
  • Movement is good, but I recommend walking. A bath in epsom salts will help. Also check your protein levels. Once I started with my personal trainer I added protein and that helped with the soreness. However, the first few times, sore is normal.
  • Hi gang, Had a great fitness/weight loss moment last night. I've been practicing martial arts for close to 20 years. About 7 years ago I moved into MMA (kickboxing and juijitsu grappling). A couple of years ago I got pneumonia pretty badly and shortly after my dad died. Make a long story short, I didn't train for close to…
  • Hi guys, I'm new to the group. Here are my goals for June: 1) Hit 20lbs lost mini goal by the end of the month (after that it's only 4 pounds to go to Goal :) 2) Keep on track with working out 6 days and biking the 7th 3) make all overdue medical check-up appointments 4) Don't get comfortable working out 5) Don't cheat…
  • I've had several milestones: Adding food measuring cups and a food scale. Buying a tub of zero carb protein powder. Buying a second tub of zero carb protein powder. Working with a personal trainer and upping my gym days from 3 to 6. Taking my bike out on my one rest day from the gym to bike 4-7 miles.
  • Hi, I like Isopure Natural Zero Carb :)
  • Hi, I'm right there with you. Went shopping over the weekend and I'm in a size 6 again as well :) Feels good, doesn't it?
  • Hi, I'm finding underarmour shirts and new balance shorts are comfortable. I go for lightweight fabrics and a fit that is snug enough not to droop when I get sweaty, but since I am modest, not too tight. It's a matter of personal taste, but I do recommend these two brands for lightweight breathable fabric. :)
  • Great news. A good personal trainer will support you and make you work hard. I too am shy, but working with a personal trainer was exactly what I needed to not only work effectively with the equipment but also get over the hump of being intimidated. The more you go to the gym, the quicker you'll be a regular :)
  • I don't think it's harder to lose weight at 5' 2", but being smaller for me means watching portion sizes and total calories. The 1200 calories a day minimum is too high for me to lose weight on. However, that said it may be different for someone else. (However, if you try out those BMI caluculators online, you'll see that…
