Bacon, beef, chicken with the skin.... Fat in the food is good for mental health. The brain needs fat to function properly. Also lowers triglycerides and LDL.

Just a scoop of protein powder in water. And 3 scoops of Aminoenergy. If I am planning longer than a 5 mile(8km) swim i add EFS to my water.

The mantra I suggest is simply "just one more lap." Back in 2001 I joined the local Y. Decided to swim for the first time in a couple decades. I made it 6 laps. I can swim a bit longer than that now. Wherever you are this week, next week just add once more lap. Soon you will feel you can add 2 more laps. And then 3......…

4 miles. Been doing 2x2500 front crawl. Then 2050 drills split to 2x700 and a 650. Keeping rest under 30 seconds between sets.
-
4 miles today.

But do they still have a dome? Even sapphire with crack hitting the ceramic tile along the edge of a pool. Lane sharing in China can be brutal.
-
Don't. Many of them clump in hot liquid. Looks like curdled milk.

Apple Watch has a glass dome. That makes it unusable for anything even a little bit rugged. My Garmin has scratches on the metal frame but not a single scratch in the sapphire glass. I would have destroyed an Apple Watch many times over.

Fenix 5X here too. Just bought my wife the Fenix 5S Plus 42mm face. She really likes it. She is learning how to use it for swimming. At 60 she just learned how to swim. Already can swim 2 miles. Garmin makes the most rugged of the trackers. Highly versatile. We like the hiking track too. Displays the tail maps as you hike…

4 miles this morning. My wife did 40 laps before depo water aerobics and another 40 laps after. A new record for her. ;)
-
4 miles today and yesterday. Had 3 days away from swimming before yesterday so I pushed hard. Had a personal best sustained pace of 1:47/100yrd and best Mile time of 31:21. My wife is now up to 2 miles plus her 1 hour deep water aerobics class.
-
4 miles today. Pushed it the last 600 set. 1:49/100yrd.

I cut carbs way down. Increased fat intake. A1C will inside normal. Doctor doesn't even test it anymore for annual physical.
-
I do when I'm in China for a month. Though it barely qualifies as a meal.
-
Lowered my LDL, Raised the HDL:LDL ratio and lowered my triglycerides from over 300 down to 45 with no medications. Cut way down on carbs. Increased fatty meat and whole eggs intake. Doctor thought I was telling her what I cut down when I said "whole eggs, sausage, bacon, pork, steak ..."

Personally I do use the MFP cake for swimming. More conservative that my Garmin. Varies by activity.
-
Welcome. Before long you'll be reporting swimming distances in miles instead of yards. :D
-
4 miles this morning. My wife has done 60 laps 2 days in a row. 1.7 miles. Last Friday I managed to do the 4 miles a two 2 mile sets.
-
4 miles today. My wife is up to 50 laps, 1.42 miles. Wicked Awesome.

Published next to an article about how over populated the planet is. :D Anything in excess can cross the line to being bad for you. Drink more water than your body can process and you drown.
-
Proud of my wife. She keeps upping her lap count. She did 48 laps before her deep water class today. That is her new personal best. Did 4 miles today for my swim.
-
4 miles this morning. My wife is up to 45 laps now. 2250 yards. Excellent for such a new swimmer. She does a lot of drills and approaches it like physical therapy. She did that swim after a 1 hour deep water aerobics class. And her favorite swim suit type now is the unitard. She found a brand, Waterpro, that isn't only…

Can't beat Garmin for a rugged device that will survive all manner of abuse. Apple watch would never survive me for long. Skip the jewelry class "trackers." If you are going to be active, you need something that will survive a smack on a rock or a scrape with the tile wall of a pool.

4 miles today. A little slower pace for a set. Thinking about trying for a 10 mile swim at my Y on a Saturday soon. Before the yard work and projects take over my weekends.

Got home from another month in China and my wife said I didn't look sick this time. Same weight as when I got back from a 58 day trip back in December. But that time she was concerned because I looked sick. So I guess I did slightly better at taking care of myself despite the conditions.
-
Good to be home again. 3.13 miles on Sunday. 4 miles yesterday and today. Bowled with my wife Saturday, Sunday, yesterday and another league tonight.
-
I can't run. Hurts too much. Don't want to another foot surgery. :D :D :D
-
Been battling a lung infection from pollen allergy congestion. Managed just 2.2km in the morning the last few days. By the afternoon I have been feeling somewhat breathless. I'll be home soon and can go to the doctor for antibiotics if needed.
-
"Eat to lose weight. Exercise to eat more." :D :D
-
"You look sick." That's what my wife said when I got home from my last China trip. It was a gruelling 58 days long.
