  • I'm planning on starting it next week, and was thinking about starting a thread in the fitness section. Let's do this!
  • This is a real diet with an arguable name? I thought it must be a joke! Eating only bananas or any one food for an entire day?? No thanks.
  • I HATE almond milk! It's so thick and gloppy and just pouring it grosses me out. The taste is good, but I can't get past the consistency. I only drink real milk or soy.
  • I enjoyed reading your post, and I concur mostly although I think some of the points can be up for interpretation depending on what study you go by. My frustration with "starvation mode" is that the term is used very loosely around here, and it's used in a judgmental "holier than thou" manner. What you said is right on for…
  • Eddie Bauer curvy jeans! They are expensive, but a lifsaver. There is never a gap in the waste, and they are comfy and flattering.
  • My top one was numbers and logic, and second one was kinaesthetic. Makes sense since I'm a nurse!
  • Actually that's a martini, but you got my name right! lol
  • The whole eating more thing worked for me when I was heavier and had more weight to lose, but now that I'm smaller with a slower metabolism I need to eat way less to still lose. The whole "starvation mode" thing is a myth. Your metabolism never quits, ever. It does slow down as you lose weight, but that is to be expected…
  • Name is cliff and likes suits!
  • Eat to Live is a great low fat vegan cookbook. But yeah I agree that I'm not sure about the whole low fat high carb thing for myself, but this diet has worked for a lot of people. This diet is very boring though lol. No oils, no sugar, only whole grain, etc.
  • I would go with either Option 2, or just use corn tortillas instead of flour b/c they pretty much always have only 1 or 2 ingredients and no added sugar. For me, part of clean eating is eating less flour and more whole grain.
  • I like to do juice fasts for part of the day, but not every day. I look at it as a way to get a ton of vitamins, antioxidants, and concentrated nutrition without taking in extra calories. Speaking as a cardiac nurse, I would never completely fast more than a couple of days for fear of electrolyte imbalances! Also, don't…
  • I love blueberries, but not when they're whole unless they're mini's. I've never done it, but I've seen other people who blend up the blueberries in pancakes and things. It keeps the flavor minus the texture, and makes your pancakes into bright colors!
  • If the scale makes you that upset, then I would weigh in once a week or maybe even every two weeks. I personally weigh in every day because of the fluctuations. I figure that if I only weighed in once a week, then I wouldn't know if that day was a fluctuation on the high side, and maybe I was lighter the day before or the…
  • Crazy responses in this thread! Fat bashing and skinny bashing are both assholish things to do, so can we just stop??! I know this is a weight loss forum, but damn size really doesn't matter as much as we think it does. I'm a cardiac/pulmonary nurse and guess what, thin people have health problems too. I've even seen a few…
  • I live in TX, and I I hardly ever eat fried food. Actually here in tx, we love to GRILL! That makes it pretty easy for me b/c I can have a nice piece of grilled chicken or steak, and some salad then I'm all set. After eating healthy and clean for a while, I have really learned to dislike fried foods a lot.
  • And, good luck to you! I remember how hard it is at first to adopt healthy eating habits when you've been eating a certain way for a long time. Nutrition used to be such a mystery to me with all of the bad information out there! It takes time, but you will get there.
  • Just put what your HRM says, that's what I do. But, the calories burned can vary based on so many things. Were you taking it easy with your workout, and not getting your heart up very high? Did you sweat? You can add to the calories burned in step by added another riser if you want to. Also some people too have a naturally…
  • Ok sorry if this sounds harsh, but I have to be honest. Looking at your food diary, you are eating too much. There is no way you can lose weight eating at restaurants and fast food every day! Yes calories matter with weight loss, but the types of food you eat matter too. When you're eating a lot of processed white flour…
  • I don't know about eating more to break the plateau...As you get smaller, your body burns less calories so it's natural you would plateau if you're eating the same amount of calories as when you were heavier. I would say eat less, and don't change your exercise routine while also cutting back on starches.
  • Even if you do record it, and then you are up say 7 pounds tomorrow, then that'll still count for a 2 pound weight loss! I think it's good to keep track just for data purposes so that you can identify trends of when you weigh more or less.
  • Right now I weigh about 148 and I feel amazing. I also feel like I look great too! I would like to get down to under 145 just so I have some wiggle room to fluctuate and not go over 150 if that makes sense.
  • I always heard that Mitchum deodorant was vegan, so that's why I always used. It is not by any means natural though. It's some strong stuff and worked really well.
  • It's really not a big deal to not have anything to eat for a day if you're having surgery. What you eat tonight won't really make a difference.
  • I drink a glass of water, and have a protein smoothie. Been having this breakfast every day for a few months now, and it works really well for my diet.
  • Bread, noodles, and pasta. Lots and lots of bread. We like to eat at a lot of ethnic type places like indian, lebanese, thai, etc. One thing all of them have in common is large amounts of bread, fried things, and noodles. Until I started cutting back on starches, I didn't realize just how much of those things I was eating.…
  • Ok look, don't be intimidated by all of these people on here saying that just b/c you adopt a vegan diet that you have to be vegan in every aspect of your life. Not true. How you live your life is your decision, and doesn't have to be based on some kind of standard. The vegan community really doesn't care too much anymore…
  • Oh yeah I forgot about this web-site...super helpful on how to be the healthiest vegan imaginable! http://gokaleo.com/
  • Judging from the two days of your food diary I saw, it seems like there are a lot of processed carbs on there. Try cutting back on starches and replacing them with protein and see if that helps.
  • That's great! As I said in another thread, the one thing I miss a lot about being vegan is that in two years both me and my husband NEVER got sick. That's a big deal, especially for my husband b/c he has terrible allergies and a deviated septum so he frequently gets sinus infections. Since we've been back on animal…
