Anyone else NOT like almond milk?

I've tried time and time again to like unsweetened almond milk. It's low in cals and has no sugar. There's just something about it I don't like even though I love almonds. I prefer Silk Milk light probably because it has a bit of sugar. Are there any other low cal/low sugar alternatives that you all suggest?

Thank you for asking this because I don't like the stuff either!0

I think it tastes gross! Nothing beats cows milk IMO :]
Altho i do really like coconut milk! Try so delicious brand. 50 cals :]0 -
Are you just looking for something to drink straight? Or are you mixing it with something? I like Silk soy light, but still use regular old 1% cow milk for some things.0
-
The only time I like it is for mixing my protein shakes. I don't drink it plain.0

I've heard rice milk is good. Also try different brands of almond milk or make your own. If you have a really good blender (like a VitaMix) you can youtube recipes. They sweeten it with vanilla and medjool dates. Hope that helps.0

I am not a big fan of it plain, but had some in my cereal this morning. I had a cup of 365 value protein berry flax and it was really good. Drinking it by itself I usually add some splenda to make it a little sweeter.0

Only like the vanilla unsweetened, but I never drink a glass of it.
Have you tried some of the So Delicious Coconut milks? It does have a distinct nutty flavor to it, but the ice creams and other products (like nog) are awesome!0 -

I mainly use it in my coffee, tea, and sometimes just straight.0 -
I prefer earth balance organic soy milk.. i havent liked any other kind besides earth balance. i tried almond and coconut and silk..everything taste weird!0

I like the 8th Continent Light Soymilk also. It's pretty good.0 -
I actually like almond milk but I like rice milk a lot better, particularly Rice Dream. But I do not drink either of it straight. I use it to mix with cereal, along with flax seed oil. It really hits the spot for breakfast.0

I tried it in cerel a couple of times. It was ok but I still prefer 2% reduced fat milk. I think if I kept drinking it I would get use to it. Growing up all my parents bought was 2% but when I moved in with my finance I started drinking the reduced fat and now I prefer it.0

Coconut Milk - So Delicious unsweetened.
I'm not a huge fan of almond milk.0 -

For coffee and tea, you might like mimic creme. It's made from almonds and cashews and the consistency is more like real cream than any other non-milk creamer I've ever encountered. 10 calories per tbsp and no sugar in the unsweetened version.
For straight drinking you might like hemp milk.
But then again I like almond milk, so perhaps you won't like either of those.0 -
I never drink it straight but I live off it with cereal, in oatmeal, in smoothies. My preference is Hemp Milk which has 20 calories more per serving but has a lot better taste. However here it is two bucks more for a litre. I only buy it on sale.0

My husband buys Silk almond milk and I find the taste too strong but we recently bought Kroger Almond Milk and I love the taste, not too strong and you can't even tell its almond milk when you pair it with something else.0

I cannot stand plain almond milk. However, I love vanilla almond milk.0

Same here! Tried almond milk once and promptly spit it right back out but I love unsweetened coconut milk.0 -
I used it one morning in my oatmeal and my bowl of oatmeal was gray. I do not like eating a bowl of gray oatmeal and have not tried it since. My hubby has decided he loooooves it so I am still buying it.0

I first tried it a few years ago, and I really, really hated it - both the original/unsweetened and the vanilla/unsweetened (and even the sweetened versions), but I gradually incorporated it into my diet, and now it's a weekly staple on my grocery list. I love the stuff and have to stop myself from drinking too much of it because it's so friggin' expensive, haha. I think it's a bit of an acquired taste (for me, anyway), like coffee or something.0

I like it just ok. sometimes it ruins food. I can put it in my cereal but cooking with it is gross. BUT i like it way better than hemp or soy milk.0
-
I never really drank milk by the glass, so I don't drink the almond stuff by the glass either, but I use the unsweetened vanilla one like it's going out of style and put it in my cereal as well as my coffee AND I use it to make my oatmeal! I will never go back to normal milk.0

I only drink skim (1 percent) milk. I have tried almond and soy and just don't care for either that much.0

After reading so many people rave about it, I decided to try it. I think it tastes gross. I prefer soy milk over almond milk and rice milk over soy milk. Cow's milk makes me feel sick to my stomach plus the taste is so gross.0

Just tried almond milk (unsweetened, unflavored) for the first time today. I liked the taste while I was drinking it, but the aftertaste was a lot like just eating the almonds themselves - dry and nutty, and made me want to go get something else to drink to wash it down.
I'll stick with it for a little while and see if I get used to it. I suspect I will probably just switch to using it in things, and not drink it straight. I've heard it is not good to use in baking recipes that call for milk, though - can anyone confirm?0 -
I LOVE Almond Milk... but I HATE the Silk brand Almond MIlk -- it has a terrible texture/taste!!
I don't like the texture of Soy Milk either. I've been dying to try Hazelnut Milk, it sounds delicious. But my favorite milk alternatives are hemp and coconut milk -- but delicious, and the texture of Coconut Milk is soo similar to regular milk.0 -

What does hemp milk taste like in your opinion?0 -
I HATE almond milk! It's so thick and gloppy and just pouring it grosses me out. The taste is good, but I can't get past the consistency. I only drink real milk or soy.0

I hate the "Silk" brand of almond milk. (it has a slimy thing to it...idk something about it is just off) I only like Blue Diamond almond milk. Maybe you should try that brand. :happy:0
