Just listened to Jenny Ruhl of Bloodsugar101.com. :drinker: Really worth listening to.

A lot of the speakers already have my email, so nothing new for them, such as Mark and his daily apple. Many of the speakers are well known in their fields- nutrition, cardiology and diabetes. A couple from the 'fringe' so to say, but still worth a look at, or listen to. You can pick which of the speakers you want to…

I usually work by net carbs. I use Firefox and have downloaded 'Greasemonkey' Add on and its Script for MFP. Gives me net carbs and a nice pie graph for Protein/Fat/Net Carbs. BUT relies on the MFP data base being correct. Also look out for entries that are already 'corrected' for net carbs, the script usually will pick up…

There could be many reasons for this. As everyone is different and the type of carbs and how they affect you can also be different. What made up the carbs in your meal? If they were slow releasing/digesting the BG rise may show later. Also protein does affect BG but not as strongly as carbs, so may have been the turkey…

Came across this article about post meal BG spikes. Hope it may helpful. http://integrateddiabetes.com/Articles/gen/Strike The Spike 2.pdf

Ah. Those early days. You don't say what dose you"re on, but you should start at the lower dose and work your way up to the full dose over a few days. Did your Dr tell you anything about this? I'm taking 500mg 3 times a day but started off with just one 500mg tablet for a few days then upped to 2 tablets a day then finally…

Still waiting for a fix for the Glucose by Category. :grumble:

Just downloaded it. I like the comparison of diabetes to a tiger. Think this needs pinning to top, perhaps in a thread with useful sites and info for members.

Black country lass, Willenhall, but now an expat in Jordan. Not so local after all, lol.:ohwell:

I should worry more about the carbs more than the fat at this point. By reducing carbs the fat and/or protein has to increase to balance the calorie intake, basic math I'm afraid. A number of members do a low carb high fat diet here. What is low carb to you will depend on how carbs affect your BG. Trial and error here and…

Problems after the updates were mainly with ave glucose graph, the pie chart 'disappeared' and in the reports section the log was blank and glucose by category values were wrong. These all seemed to be fixed now except the glucose by category for some of the values. Emailed them again and they say they are working on it.…

I use the same app. They did muck up the update :grumble: , but were quick to put things right and they answer your emails  . I like all the graphs and the fact you can track BG, food (as amount of carbs), A1c results, body fat% and weight, blood pressure and pulse, medication, and exercise. You can also email a log…

I'm using the ACCU-CHEK Performa. Seems to be OK been using it about a year, have changed the battery once. Strips are 20JOD for 50, which I buy. A bit expensive when you consider the average wage here. I've also seen the ONE TOUCH here too, strips about the same price.

As above, the founder/admin/moderator has not been active on MFP for about 24 months, group started 1/03/2012. I have sent her a message, if it will be received I have no idea. Anyone willing to take on the position(s).

I'd like this too. I know everyone's tolerance for different types of carbs varies but it would be a good to share what works for them. Lots of so called diabetic recipes are not always as suitable or as low carb as some of us would like. May be a good starter for newbies too, we're told a lot about what not to eat that it…

I like the pants/trousers. Where's the like button??? Do you do a lot of sewing?

I know what you mean about shopping. Just wish I could click my fingers, or wriggle my nose lol, and all the 'bad' foods would just disappear leaving the good things to choose from. Reading labels is such a pain, portion sizes not clear or very small print. I take a small magnifying glass and calculator with me. get a few…

What is the life-time of a meter? I took a reading on my meter straight after my blood was taken for a lab fasting BG. My meter reading was 121, which I repeated and was 114 on the second test, and the lab 111.8. One thing what got me about the day of my lab tests was the fact my morning fasting BG at home was 98 at…

Hi I'm new to this group, although I have been following posts here for a while. I've been using flaxseed, ground to meal/flour, to make my burger buns, 'bread' rolls and muffins for a few weeks now. Doesn't spike BG and has a texture similar to that of whole wheat bread. As far as controlling/stabilizing BG levels, I…
