  • I'm so jealous! I was on spiro for a while and it didn't do all that much until i went on the pill (both drugs+glumetza). THEN I noticed a difference, but it's still not enough. I still have to shave every morning (i really hate that), but when I go to bed, it's not as much as it used to be. It seems to grow a lot slower…
  • you're not alone. Of all the crap PCOS has dealt me, hair has to be THE worst thing for me. I don't care as much about the weight as I do the hair. It makes me feel really gross and un-pretty. hopefully you get your results soon!
  • I'm on vit-D, but my endocrinologists tests my levels for that. Mine were REALLY low, so after my prescription strength dosing, i'm on 2000u a day. I work in the basement of the hospital :(
  • dehydration makes your blood come out slower. one of my coworkers yelled at me for that last time i had to get blood work done.
  • philly burbs
  • When I worked at arby's, we weighed the roast beef per sandwich.
  • I got tired of chronic knee pain (been hypo for a number of years) and went to an orthopedic. He put me on 4-6 weeks of physical therapy. I have 3 sessions left, but what she's been really driving is strengthening my core, hips and quads to take strain off the knees. not exactly sure how it works, but they didn't hurt at…
  • first thing i thought of was hypothyroid. people who may have been hyperthyroid tend to have it burn out completely and become hypo. and if you were gain resistant, it sounds like that a bit to me. but also, can't hurt to make sure you don't have PCOS too. some of the symptoms overlap. A good endocrinologist should be able…
  • my knee does that on the recumbent bike during physical therapy. after a few minutes it stops, like the machine just needs to be oiled. but if you're worried about your knees, stretch those hamstrings... (at least, that's a bulk of my assigned home exercises)
  • lucky for you, you're on MFP and there's a community for us cysters! it's called P.C.O.SIS, come by. there's a ton of topics and lots of ladies that are willing to help out
  • I have it between my breasts, back of my neck, and under arms. Mine seems to like to come and go on a whim, so i don't know if it's something i ate that will trigger it's resurgence or not. When i was in high school my mom kept yelling at me to scrub my neck harder because it looked dirty. At one point i had scrubbed the…
  • I'm on Glumetza (brand name extended release). I take 2 500mg things after dinner. I find it makes for a less cranky colon. I found, for me, that extended release was easier on the side effects, but when i switched to the hospital pharmacy (insurance requirement), the generics they had weren't working. they started and…
  • you can do a number of strength training exercises with stuff in your house. a quick google search for free strength training or strength training at home can show you. i use my wii, a resistance band and wrist/ankle weights. makes muscles i didn't know i had hurt, but good hurt :)
  • I grabbed the wii from my mom's house and have mostly been alternating my days with wii fit (the yoga or strength training) and EA Active (the strength training parts). I can roam about 2-3 miles at work every day pushing a cart with a 20lb microscope on it. I've also heard cardio isn't all that good for a weight loss…
  • I came here from another site that wasn't as good of a support community. My in real life friends that don't have any health problems aside from over eating and being lazy don't understand my plight and it's sometimes more frustrating than the PCOS itself :/ ("just eat less" they say... right. because 1300 isn't already…
  • I made a chicken donburi last night and it was about 325 calories a serving and even if you went back for seconds, it's not going to be too bad. The cookbook series i have is the "easy Japanese cooking" series published by Vertical and even offers some substitutions if you can't get some of the Asian foods in the recipes.
  • I have 2 pair of identical pants. 18s and 16s. The 18s feel like they're falling down all the time and the 16s were tightish. well, today i put on whichever pair i found (was in a hurry) and they were comfortable. About half way through the day, i noticed they were the 16s :D (and yesterday, someone at work noticed i was…
  • I don't feel shame about it, per se. More like some serious rage and anger. I tell almost everyone that I have it because their faces look at me like i'm a lazy slug. Granted, yes, i can be lazy. The only part of anything i don't mention is the hair. I hate it. It's the one single thing i hate the most from this PCOS…
  • I'm on glumetza (brand metformin) and i just started the birth control to try and help with some of the other side effects. I was semi regular (every 5 or so weeks) before metformin, and nothing really changed with that. But I'm hoping the pill makes the evil death cramps go away. So far, i've been having the most unusual…
  • if TastyKake was smart, they'd expand further from the mid-atlantic a bit more. Their cake was always a better quality cake :)
  • you might want to let your doctors investigate. you could have PCOS also....
  • I just went through 2 weeks of that. I usually have horrifying pain and stupid heavy flow and i was given this. of course it had to happen as i'm supposed to start BC. I didn't realize it was a period, i thought i was just having some weird spotting :/ looks like i have to wait to start the pills :(
  • if i'm not mistaken, it's primary use is as a blood pressure medication.
  • I love my calves. They're big, but shapely. my biggest gripe is that I can't fit into sexy knee high boots :/
  • I've been off and on DDR for over a decade... Back when the playstation was the big to-do! I used to be able to do mid level (different mixes call them all different things - trick, alternate, whathaveyou). The crappy flat mats and hard floors would kill my knees, so i had shelved DDR and stepmania for years. Recently, i…
  • Depression. Before i started synthroid i was pretty down in the dumps a majority of the time (with some periods being worse than others) but after, my mood COMPLETELY changed. If I manage to forget to take it on a rare occasion, i'm in tears by lunch time for no good reason.
  • I actually came to this site from a different one that my friends use because i had such a disconnect from THEM (and the other boards here, i just try to avoid them). Not only am I hypothyroid, but I also have PCOS which makes things just stupidly difficult. I've always eaten rather minimal and am moderately active (albeit…
  • I'm the same as LoyalAngel. though, I don't think the spiro is helping me at all. I'm tired of shaving...
  • Thank you for all your great replies ^_^ I'm looking into some of the suggestions, so hopefully something will get through. I'm also taking my blood tests tomorrow to meet with my endo at the end of october (I have a hawaii trip in the middle :D) so we'll see where all my levels of everything lie.
