I think some company will buy Hostess and carry on...there are too many "Twinkie junkies" out there. They have been part of life for a long time and all the hoopla about them going out of business will cause some company to step up and take over.
  • Do a search on eBay. There are a ton of listings for them and many of them have multiple bids. I LOVE Ho Hos, but I only buy them occasionally and when they are on sale. No way will I be over paying for them.

They will be back. I have no doubt about it.

Forget the twinkies!.....I just realized (from that pic above) that Hostess makes ZINGERS! Those are a household favorite! OH NO!

My sons bought a box of Twinkies tonight--just because they were cheap and they hadn't had a "treat" in quite a while. I ate half of one and I have to admit, I still don't like them. As a kid, I loved the pies, the orange cupcakes, the HoHo's, Sno balls, and the Suzy Q's! No wonder I became diabetic early and eventually got up to well over 200 pounds!
  • I think I might have to get a couple for a good-bye toast; although I always preferred Ding Dongs

Yeah, I was more of a ding-dong myself!

I don't really like sweet foods and haven't had Hostess stuff since I was a little kid, but I've been Jonesing twinkies and ding dongs all day.

Somebody will buy the recipes and make these things again, particularly with the effect this will have on demand for them.

Is the whole company going down...powdered doughnuts and swiss rolls and everything?!

That's Little Debbie that makes Swiss Rolls. So they will still be around.
  • Only the US production will stop. Up here in Canada, we will still be able to make/get them.
    Internet sales, anyone?

Have you ever tasted sponge cake? have you ever tasted sweetened, whipped cream?

Put the whipped cream inside the sponge cake, and you've got a Twinkie. Personally, I like Little Debbie's "cream filled sponge cake" better than Twinkies. Twinkies either changed since I was a kid or my taste buds have changed.

  • if TastyKake was smart, they'd expand further from the mid-atlantic a bit more. Their cake was always a better quality cake :)

I don't get the demand...they will SELL the brands.....other companies WILL buy them because of the history and they will be back on the shelves...just a matter of time....
