With arthritis in both knees, walking can aggravate them and sometimes be very painful. Cycling is much easier on the knees which I can sustain for longer periods of time. The expert is right. (and cycling does strengthen the quads :))

Thanks for the inspiration!

I'm right there with you. For me, I've been doing a bit of soul searching because I honestly believe it goes further than making the right choice; although we absolutely need to do that to the best of our ability! Tracking can help identify those pitfall times you didn't know existed. Although, as stated above, choosing a…

You rock! There is hope for "Bye Bye Arms" to go bye bye. :)

I have bunions on both feet as well and last year experienced extreme pain in my left foot right before a cycling tour. Go figure. I visited the podiatrist and he gave me a steroid or cortizone shot which helped tremendously. I was able to cycle with no problems. I did find that I could no longer wear my beloved Keen…

Another reason to lift is to preserve bone density! As we women age, bone density decreases as well as muscle. Lifting helps to lessen the damage.

I am all for drinking martini's at the movies in a reclining chair. That sounds like a lot of fun. (better than doing it at home) Usually, I tell the guys I don't want popcorn and then eat all theirs. They hate that. LOL If I'm thinking before I leave the house I'll grab a mint balance bar.

Wonderfully motivating! Thanks!

at 5' 4" , 135 would be fine, however 140 is more realistic for me. Been at 135 before and had a hard time maintaining.

We drink protein shakes after working out at my house. Generally, I like to make a smoothie with fruit out of it and the guys just mix with water and toss it down (gross!). I can't help you with chocolate flavors as we like the Gold Standard Ice Cream flavor. Also, I've added plain, tasteless, protein powder to veggie…

Today my pants look awful because they are droopy. YaY!

The best motivation I have for getting to the gym is working out with a friend. We keep each other going. When she's not available, I find that if I go first thing in the morning, right after bus stop drop off, I'm more likely to get the work out done. I weigh everyday but only log if I lose weight once a week. If no lose,…

Lookin' good! It's a journey and you seem to be traveling well. :)

Congratulations on your 65lb weight lose. Honestly, I'm having a problem with all the "it's your problem get self control" comments myself. Relationships have to be based on compromise or they will not work. That means both people, people! As others have opined, there might be an underlying issue that's causing a power…

I have a teenage son and a junk fiend husband, so junk is in our house pretty much regularly. the junk has it's own cabinet and I try never to look in there. Perhaps this might help? Fairly new living arrangements can be stressful as we learn about our partners habits, desires etc. and how we come to compromises. All the…

The scale is not my friend.

Hi, Soon to be 55 (how did THAT happen?). I've been on and off the boards, back on now! I have a slim teenager as well and a junk food loving husband. So my challenges are temptation in the kitchen. Funny though, my teenager is a runner and leans towards healthier choices unlike Dad. I've been watching the calories,…

I identify with your first paragraph completely! I've gained and lost gained and lost and now back again. All the best for success on your return to MFP.

Agree that he was playing around. He doesn't appear to be all slick and polished and that's ok.

Totally understand! The journey does take time, I try to remember that when I feel I'm failing. As another poster said "baby steps". Congrats on getting the trainer lined up. I believe having my trainer is what keeps on the path. 6 countries in 6 months! That's quite an accomplishment and sounds absolutely fantastic. Focus…

It could be water weight. Review your diary for any heavy sodium items and omit them going forward. Have you been eating out? If so, sodium could definitely be the culprit. It takes time. Two steps forward - one step back is not unusual. Just keep tally of your diet, get exercise and drink lots of water. Don't just watch…

A good tailor is your best friend! I've often had things taken in to fit on my way down the scale. Sometimes he'll tell me it's not possible because of the shape of the garment or it's too big. There is no reason to live in frumpville while losing weight and inches. Besides, when clothing fits right, it makes you feel…

I will try again. The one time I was scheduled, the prep made me so sick and triggered a migraine from hell to the point I was unable to undergo the procedure. Going to find a new doc and new prep. Thanks for posting! My DL has them done regularly due to polyps and other issues.
