Go by weight wherever possible for accuracy's sake. That said, if you need to convert volume to weight for logging or recipe purposes, honestly just ask Google - the trick is to specify the food you are talking about as denser foods will have more weight by volume. E.g. "okay, Google: how much does a quarter cup of butter…

Lentils are magic.

Okay, so I haven't read to see if anyone mentioned it yet, but you have to make your hard boiled eggs in your instant pot. The reason isn't that it is faster (prob takes about the same time as stove top), it is because they PEEL LIKE MAGIC. Something about how it cooks them causes the shells to practically fall off when…

Shredded Chicken with Kale and Lentils . I freaking love this recipe. Pro-tip: add garlic when cooking the onions. Add some Nando's hot sauce to it for some kick.

Some notes: Supper photo was pulled from the internet because I forgot to take a photo. But it was Szechuan turkey and veggies. Lunch was: Chipotle black bean veggie burger with french beans (made with garlic and lemon) and cherry tomatoes Supper was: this with the sauce scaled back and no spaghetti.

Here is my before/after from after losing weight 2 years ago. I've had my son since then and am struggling to lose the 15 lbs I've since gained, but hopefully the photos help!

My completely anecdotal evidence is this: I drink probably 3-4 cans of diet coke a week, and had no difficulty going from obese to a healthy weight.

:o I feel like I need to read your post every morning of my life to motivate me. What an incredible woman you are! You look SO strong, and very beautiful. Your kids have a fabulous example to follow, and your husband must be super proud of you, too. Great, great job! It's also nice to see someone so balanced between…

Honestly, it took a good minute or two of staring enviously at your hair before I could even read what you have written ;). But anyway, congratulations! You look fantastic and you've clearly been working hard.
-
Very inspirational! You look wonderful. At 5'0" myself I understand how getting a bit of the weight off makes a huge difference. This is motivating for me today. Thank you for sharing :).
-
Oooh! You are my new fitness hero! My highest weight and height are similar to yours, and I would be over the MOON to look anything like you. Looks like I'll need to really put in some work!!
-
The pictures say it all! Love your confidence and energy. Great job :).

I'm 5'0" and got down to 107 after my first baby (these photos were the last I took before getting pregnant with my son, taken at 111 lbs). <Here's a link to my blog post with the before/after> Working to get back there! Harder with two little ones than with one, but not impossible. All the best to you.

Couldn't agree more. Lost 60 lbs 1 1/2 years ago here after my daughter was born and I remember crying while looking at my before photos as I "hid" them in a folder on my computer. They ended up being the single most motivating factor in my weight loss as I took them monthly during my weight loss. I think it took 3 months…

Bravo! I'm sure you don't need anyone else to tell you how amazing you look. All the same, here it is: you look phenomenal!! Plus, it's always encouraging to see people that have made changes when they had long term struggles with their weight and habits. There are a great many of us who can relate. :)

Holy Moley!! Great job, and thank you for sharing. This is hugely inspiring for me today!

THIS! I have learned to be fine with looking foolish while trying and failing at things, because I've learned that some failure is necessary while pushing yourself, and I've also learned that success does come with persistence. I had let a whole lot of life pass time by while sitting things out because I "knew" I couldn't…
-
You look PHENOMENAL!! Just the motivation I need today. Great perseverance!
-
You clearly don't need all of us telling you how amazing you are. Nevertheless, you are amazing!!

I'd break it down to ingredients to log it (creating a recipe, as GeorgeL583 mentioned). Or, just pick something in the database that roughly approximates the calories you'd expect (just this once) and make a mental note to actually log the ingredients separately while cooking this food next time. Especially if you eat it…

I just love the confidence oozing from your second pic! You look phenomenal - good job!

Working to get back to this after baby #2 (harder with two kidlets underfoot!) but I definitely saw an improvement to my midsection. Excited to do more lifting this go around and see the tummy improve way more than it did that first go around

5'0" and went from 164 to 107 after the birth of my daughter using MFP, doing Zumba, running and weight-lifting. Went on to have a son, and now I'm at this again (but finding it much harder this time!). Here is my blog entry from that last time that I lost weight if you'd like to see pictures (I took them at 111 lbs,…

Great work! Very inspiring and you look fantastic, too!

When I pulled out the "skinny clothes" box from the back of the closet and realized that I didn't have to squeeze into any of it - it all fit well, and looked better on me this go around. Better than when I could see myself as thinner, though, was when I could believe myself to be fitter and stronger. I always knew I could…
-
Good work! It may take some time for it to be really noticeable, but you will feel so much better as you push toward it :).

Woah - you look fabulous!!

If it is homemade and contains sugar, I'm hooped. I can't bake "for my husband" or family. It's just a more socially-acceptable way of saying "I want to eat 8 cookies today, spread over strategic intervals so it doesn't seem like I ate 8 cookies today."

If it's not something that you're faced with often, guessing will probably not derail you. Just make wise choices. Fill up on veg, pick the leaner protein options, try to minimize the dressings and added fats. Then take your rough estimate of calories in your head, add 50 calories for good measure (haha, maybe that's silly…

Whoever asked about pants for pear shapes -- Midrise jeans from Express (leg shape doesn't matter as much as the rise to me). http://www.express.com/clothing/mid+rise+jean+legging/pro/7015708/cat320064 ^ I'm wearing these in a 6 Petite and holy crap do they ever make me feel like I look amazing! Which is nice, since I…
