  • @Just_Ceci that's good to hear! I think we have an open spot on my team if you change your mind!
  • I had this problem not too long ago. My Garmin stopped syncing and I had not changed anything on the settings. I contacted MFP and at the time they said it was a glitch on their end. I disconnected Garmin and just relied on my Strava. The only difference was it would show my activity as burned 400 calories in 1 minute, for…
  • I agree. Garmin has great customer service. Much better than Polar in my experience.
  • I used to be a Polar fan but I switched to Garmin and like a previous poster said not going back.
  • I don't do bibs either but I arrive to my rides ready to ride, padded bottoms. From what I can tell the guys that do wear bibs also arrive dressed to ride.
  • @Machka9 there was a lot of climbing, about 5500, but the weather was perfect! My longest road ride this year before yesterday was only 40 so I was a little nervous.
  • This thread got me thinking about doing a century. There was one about 2 hours away from me today so I did it. There were quite a few people I talked to who hadn't ridden in awhile or much recently including myself.
  • Are you using it while strictly lifting weights?
  • I've been curious about this as well. So far free is working for me but not sure what I'm missing.
  • I think you can do it! I'm only a weekend rider but I'm consistent in the gym which for me I know translates to my performance on my bike. I was thinking about last minute doing a Century on Saturday just because someone asked me a couple days ago. Also for me my nutrition and hydration need to be on point, Stop at the SAG…
  • Hi, all! New to this thread. Ironically, I was thinking of doing a virtual challenge but this popped up. Still debating doing that in the future but not sure the medal would feel as special. My goal for March is 200 miles. I'm mostly a weekend rider alternating between road and mountain group rides. Tonight will be my…
  • I enjoyed the Strava Podcast that they started this year. Obviously Not all cycling but some great content. And I also like the Tough Girl Podcast.

  • I haven't been on here in a while either. I remember finding the group awhile back but it always seemed kind of dormant. I rode road and mountain. Just signed up for Ragbrai yesterday! Super nervous as it will be my first multi day event but I think I've been lucky enough to link up with a good group through the forum.
  • There are a few like that where I live. They do have mirrors but they are geared more to weighifting with minimal cardio equipment.
  • I'm a Garmin fan. Tons of features, they last and they stand behind their product.
  • Learned something new!
  • Cybex Sparx and Stepmill and good bootcamps at various gyms. For lifting I follow a program.
  • I had to look up skillmill. Lol. Looks very similar to a Woodway with a little bit of a Shredmill mixed in. Intersting. As far as estimating could you just use treadmill and put in your time spent?

  • I'm glad you're okay. I started cycling almost a year ago and it surprises me the number of casual riders I see that don't wear helmets. Even in my short time riding I've been in a group ride where someone went down and have heard many stories from others. It's almost a matter of not if you'll go down at some point but…
  • Of course! It didn't happen if it's not on Strava. Actually thinking of upgrading to premium. Vicky B.

  • I think this is an awesome goal. I will have been riding a year in August and I have done quite a few rides over 50 miles at this point. I have to say I didn't really train too much for them minus my normal weekly 30 mile weekend group rides. I just did a 90 mile ride a month ago and the friend that I rode with had never…
  • This has been my experience. My original chest strap that came with my Forerunner 35 still works with my Vivoactive HR. I haven't had such a positive experience with Polar.
  • If you just need a strap and have a wrist unit I would recommend Garmin. It works whenever I have gone to facilities where they encourage you to connect like Orange Theory.
  • I only started lifting to my maxes in the last year. I injured my shoulder and was in rehab for a couple months so currently working my way back to 170 bench. Squat 260 Bench 170 Dead 325

  • I just got into biking last summer. I love it and it's a great way to explore your surroundings. Agree about the cycling bottoms. That's one area where you don't want to go cheap but you can find deals out there. I agree about the strength training too and I can see how it helps me in my rides. Good luck!
  • I use a Garmin Vivoactive HR. I've had it since it came out and in the last year started biking and I'm very happy with it.
  • I love my Garmin vivoactive hr.
  • I could never give up my gyms! There is no way I could get the same experience at home or the variety of equipment. I currently rotate between two. One for boot camp style classes and boxing and one for strictly weightlifting. The small group classes are a fraction of what I would pay for personal training. And I love the…
  • I do it. During the week I'll take a morning bootcamp, hit or boxing workout and in the evenings I take a weightlifting class. This is usually only three days a week, sometimes four.
  • I got into cycling because a friend wanted to do a tri and needed a training partner and I tend to love all things fitness so I said yes. Our first ride was about 30 miles and now we tend to go out on the weekends with different cycling groups around town. I'm more comfortable in a group and don't know if I would ever like…
