I splurge every Friday. Plan to do this the rest of my life. I usually go over by about 1,000 calories and still lose consistently weekly.

Kind of funny how you will have many folks saying you have the correct answers for weight loss and just as many saying everything you argue against is the correct ways of weight loss... Maybe it is plain and simple... To lose weight you eat less calories than you use. It is all in how each individual wants to do it. If…

I eat anytime night or day... Does not seem to make any difference, I lose or gain, depending on what I am trying to accomplish each month, strictly by the amount of calories I eat regardless of the time of the meals.
-
I don't consider that a problem. I eat over by around a 1,000 to 1,500 each Friday. It works for me.
-
Are the numbers you threw out arbitrary? If you only ate 661 calories for the day you would need to eat more even if you did not exercise.
-
I am eating pizza right this minute...Pretty sure I will have lost another pound by next week also.
-
My evening snack changes regularly but a slice of whole grain bread, a tablespoon of peanut butter, some sliced bananas and then grilled makes an awesome 300 or so calories treat that almost feels like cheating.

The 1,200 hundred you see mentioned is for females...Most males need at least 1,500. I am 5'6" and when I eat 1,500 a day I lose around 2 pounds a week. Lats month I started eating 1,700 calories a day plus an additional 500 or so calories for each weight lifting session and I have slowed my weight loss down to about 1/2…

I agree with this post...I need to clarify my above post. I had mine at 1,500 calories per day and last month changed to 1,700 calories per day. Plus the 500 or so exercise calories. Eat right to fuel the machine and then push it hard.
-
I think your calories settings are about right. As you continue on this journey your eating will improve. I lost 2 pounds average weekly the first three months at 1,500 calories daily while eating back my exercise calories and I am 5'6". Now that I am closer to my goal weight I have recently started fairly intense weight…

For me they are a big deal. Lots of them help to fuel hard workouts. And I am both losing fat and gaining muscle.
-
Not at all...It would take prolonged calorie deficit for that. Are you hungry? If I burned 1,800 calories I would be starving. Heck I am starving after a 500 calories workout session. When i do that kind of work out I eat plenty before and after the workout. Look at my food diary for tomorrow. I plan on eating 700 to 800…

The adds are supplied by google and they deliver what they think you want to see. Nothing to do with this website

A lot of it may depend on how hard you work out. I know when i do an hour of heavy weight lifting I am famished... When i lightly run on the treadmill for 20 mins not near as hungry. Also depends on your goals. If you use exercise to build muscle and cardiovascular strength then eating enough to fuel the exercising makes…

You will be fine not eating all back for quite awhile. Once you build your strength up to burn 500 to 700 calories in an hour your body will tell you it is starving anyways. You will know when to eat them back. Good luck by the way!

Bingo! A lot of folks get caught up in weight loss only and never really understand calories also = energy, or their goals are weight loss alone.. Take Michael Phelps. When he is hard core training he probably eats 10,000 calories a day, has no fat on him, and is one baddass.
-
Wow... A lot of defensive folks on here. I say do what's best for you! I do not have any advice on the headaches though. I do not suffer them. Personally, I enjoy a good variety of healthy eating, including plenty of complex carbs to fuel amazing workouts. I am about at my goal weight so I have shifted into lowing the fat…
-
I am sure you will lose weight both ways... Personally I view exercising as for building muscle and cardiovascular strength only. So I eat properly to fuel an awesome hard hitting workout. I eat to lose or gain weight. I exercise for gaining strength. I lose the same amount of weight each week whether don't exercise or do…

I certainly eat what I want. Just is the appropriate amounts. I have learned to want fruits, veggies, and whole grains and eat all regularly spread out between six meals a day. If i want bacon then two slices with one slice of cheese and one egg on a while grain sandwich thin in the morning is what I have. Add strawberries…

You would need to burn 2,500 calories a day below your maintenance calories. So if you maintained at 2,200 calories per day you could just EAT NOTHING each day and then burn an additional 300 calories a day, which you could do with 45 minutes of cardio. Please come back to this thread in a couple of weeks and let us know…

Go to goals...In there shows how much weight loss per week you selected...Sounds like you selected 1/2 pounds per week. mabey a pound depending on your selected activity level.
-
Remember, your BMR is what you would burn if you slept 24hrs a day. Any additional activities such as getting out of bed, walking around, etc are helping to create more of a deficit than just the sixty.

I agree it could have been worded better, but I think this person meant to say, or should have meant to say, was that he feels the real MPPers are the ones who actually follow this site as the site creators designed it. After all it was designed to put in your daily activity levels and your goal weight loss. It then…

I have not noticed that.. I eat back all mine each day plus I eat 500 over each Friday and I lose weight weekly and consistently. My wife follow along and also loses consistently.
-
I only count the times I get my HRM on and exercise. I live in the Seattle area and once the rain stops and summer gets here I am sure I will count the times I spend long days working in the yard, as i am sure I will be famished and will be looking towards those extra calories after a long day in the yard.
-
I eat lot's of fruit and carbs... But then again I work out hard and starting to build some serious muscle. Need to keep the machine fueled. Losing weight also.
-
I make my goals realistic so I have no problem hitting them. I shoot for a 4 to 5 pound loss monthly. I also make sure I use up every bit of calories I can, I enjoy eating  Since I changed to this philosophy I have hit each goal plus some. And if I didn't hit a mini goal I still know I am getting healthier and…

Promise I won't hit on you... My wife is all that I can handle

Actually Crazy Steve, not only do people on forums say this but this site is designed this way. Why do you think it adds calories back to eat when you input the burns? With that said everyone should find their own way, while weeding out the advice they dot not want.
-
This website is designed for that yes... However, you will get many folks on here saying both yes and no. I do. I view eating cals for gaining and or losing weight. Exercise is only to build strength, both muscle and cardiovascular. So I eat back the calories to keep my workouts fueled. Plus you obviously can get your body…
