I do a lazy keto / low carb way of eating and I have found it to be very sustainable and easy to follow. I don't track calories and macros, but I do watch my carb intake and avoid added sugars where I can. I am not strict keto, so I do allow myself a small amount of wheat or sugar in my foods, but it's greatly reduced and…

I have had metabolism issues all my life which is how I ended up at 290 pounds to begin with. So yes, I have been tested numerous times. I lost my first 5 pounds in the first 20 days, and nothing since... so that was of course all water weight. I am going to see about beefing up my shakes, but I really got to be careful…

HAHA! No. It's usually only for the first 2 - 3 years. I'm more than 10 years out.
-
I will eliminate them. I just wish my metabolism would cooperate.
-
I'm going to work on that. :)

I'm confused then...if feeling full isn't the issue, why can't you eat more than 1000-1100 calories? [/quote] My problem is that I'm too full or not hungry enough to eat more. I do realize that my gastric bypass restricts how much I can eat at once, but I'm concerned I'm not getting the calories I need. I want to consume…

Feeling full definitely isn't an issue. I'll look into adding more of these oils into other meals. Thanks.
-
I do occasionally.... And natural peanut butter.

I use coconut and olive oil quite a bit actually. And I do use half and half in my coffee. My shake is homemade using Vega plant based protein powder as the base. I measure each item that goes into it carefully and have the exact same quantity each time. It's quite delicious and filling.

It's a supplement from 310 Nutrition mostly with raspberry ketones, green coffee extract, and garcinia cambogia. I have lousy metabolism.

DanyellMcGinnis, since I am 10 years post-op, the fluid intake restrictions are pretty much nil for me. I drink about 3 cups of water during each walk I take, and I usually walk two to three times per day. I will try some of the powders you suggested since I really am not a veggie person (I'm a meat-a-tarian). And I…

CharlieBeansmomTracey, thanks for the insight. I will be more diligent on how I enter my foods. I actually like to weigh everything, so I doubt I am actually eating more than I think. I do think, however, I am going to go without the energy drinks, but I can't give up caffeine completely. And there aren't a lot of veggies…

Kristikitter, it's not a brownie.... it's a protein bar.

I'm losing weight, just wondering if I should be adding yet another snack to my day.... I am regularly eating between 1,000 and 1,100 pretty much everyday with a few exceptions.
-
And yes, I've lost 5lbs in my first 4 weeks.

I'm currently 185 with a goal currently at 160. I'm a retired semi-pro athlete (full-contact contact football)

And I eat breakfast, then lunch, and afternoon snack, dinner, then an evening snack. I may even have a morning snack on some days. I did have gastric bypass, so canxt eat big meals and have to eat smaller portions, which is why some of my meals may look like snacks.

I actually weigh everything religiously, most of the time in grams... even the tortillas and pepperoni (some foods don't allow for entries in grams - but I am weighing them). And I track every little thing I put in my mouth including drinks and all supplements.

My diary is public if you're interested.

I too have reactive hypoglycemia. I find that eating foods lower in carbs and higher in protein and fiber helps a lot. I also keep glucose tabs on me most of the time. I stay away (mostly) from processed foods and avoid HFCS and even Splenda (suralose) at all costs. It took me a number of years to find what triggered my…

I usually only weigh myself once per week on Saturday mornings. Sometimes I might weigh myself mid-week, but not usually.

I too am a very picky eater and there is very few veggies I like. If broccoli really doesn't suit you much, try cauliflower instead. Not to mention, you can do some really creative low-cal things with cauliflower to substitute out some of the carbs in your diet, and it's as good as eating broccoli. I am not a huge broccoli…

Started on 4/17 with my diet and I've been doing very well.... I haven't weighed myself yet (scared to see how much I'd gained over the past few years), but I will. I've been really watching my calories and macros, eating a low carb, high fat/protein diet, and moving more. I just purchased a Fitbit and I am already loving…

I am also 5'4" at around 180 and looking to get down to the 140 - 150 range. I'm a retired professional athlete working a full time desk job. I try to get up and move around as much as possible during my day, but it sure is difficult to find the time. I had gastric bypass surgery 10 years ago and weighed as much as 290 and…

The Kirland bars from Costco are great!

I have always found that eating 3 to 4 small snacks and 1 - 2 small meals per day keeps my calories down and keeps me at a healthy weight. I typically eat a little something every 2 to 3 hours. It works great and I am rarely hungry.
-
This is definitely some solid advice. And diet is absolutely huge in getting rid of belly fat. I've been working out and dieting religiously for the last 10 weeks. I've only lost about 2" off my waist and only 3 lbs on the scale. I'm eating about 1,300 to 1,600 calories a day and lifting 45 minutes a day, 4 to 5 days a…

What an inspiration! Congrats to you! I know it had to be hard. I myself used to be 290 lbs... I got down to 127 in the matter of about 20 months and now I am sitting at about 150. Enjoy the new you and keep up the good work!!!

I'm 5'4", 150 lbs, and 33 years old. I eat 1200 - 1400 calories per day and walk / run regularly (at least 4 days a week for 30 minutes or more). On the days I have an intense workout, I have a tendancy to eat closer to 1400. When I am really on top of doing my strength training, I do this and usually lose about 1 - 2…

This is absolultely horrible for your blood sugar!! You're just asking to gain weight on a diet like this in the long run. I advise against it. I eat 5 to 6 times a day, but they are small meals mostly (lunch or dinner are usually my biggest meals out of the day). Eating small amounts regularly throughout the day regulates…
