If you're referring to the shoes that clip-in to the spin bike pedals, then I would recommend going to a bike shop. They will have the largest selection and the most informed staff. As a general rule, you can't go wrong with the brands Shimano or Pearl Izumi, and if you're having a problem with the shoes being too narrow…

Hi! I'm 5'11. My starting weight was 223 (12/28/10), and my current weight is somewhere between 169 and 174. Here are some of my before/after shots. I've posted them before, but I've been in a bit of a slump recently, so I could use the positive reinforcement! These are of me and my husband on Christmas 2010 and at my…

I made this last night (but with black beans, fat free cheddar cheese, and brown rice), and it was awesome! My husband and I both loved it, and I brought leftovers for lunch today. It was also super fast and easy to make!

I started my weight loss journey on 12/28/10 in preparation of my 5/28/11 wedding. From the beginning I made the decision that there were a few days I would just eat/drink whatever I wanted and not feel bad about it: Easter, my bridal shower, and my bachelorette party. Some events are more important than a "diet," and you…

I'd say it's 110% worth the investment. My husband and I both have a Polar FT7 and love them! I've also heard great things about the FT4.

I spin regularly, when I first started MFP, I would always log my class as "Spinning." This gives the same burn as "Stationary bike, moderate effort (bicycling, cycling, biking)." After getting my HRM, however, I found that how much I burned during spin varied from class to class, especially across instructors. Currently,…

Absolutely incredible!!! Great job!!

I've been spinning regularly for the past 6+ months, and I started running about a month ago. On a per hour basis, running burns more calories for me than spinning does. That said, I generally spin for significantly longer than I run, so per workout spinning burns more for me. In the month of July, I've Done 7 spin classes…

If you spin often, I would really recommend that you get clip-in shoes. When I started spinning I wore regular shoes, and my feet would always hurt during class. Since switching to the clip-in shoes, my feet have never hurt. Clipping in also allows you to push and pull on the pedal better, so you get even more out of the…

My husband and I moved in together a year before we got married. In the first six months of living together, I gained nearly 30 pounds. He gained about the same amount. We were eating out a lot, having huge portion sizes, and getting fast food more often than I'd care to admit. I don't know what happened, but I guess we…

I have the Vibram KSO Multisports, and I've never had an issue with blisters. That said, my Vibrams fit my foot like a glove. My toes go all the way to the end, and my heel is snug in the back. It sounds like yours may not be fitting correctly. Perhaps look into another size or another style that fits your foot better. My…

I started at 223 pounds, wearing a very tight size 14 (for reference, I'm 5'11). I feel like I didn't notice much of a difference until I'd lost about 20 pounds, and I didn't drop a full size until I'd lost about 30 pounds or so. I'm now 173 and wearing a size 10. How quickly your weight loss shows absolutely depends on…

I was on Nutrisystem for about five months when I was in grad school. The food was actually pretty good, and I lost 20 pounds without working out. So yes, technically, it did work for me. As some others have said, though, the issue with these programs is that they are not a sustainable approach to weight loss. They do not…

I did that DVD a couple weeks ago and wore my Polar FT7 HRM. I burned 356 calories in 43 minutes (496.7 calories/hour). For reference, I'm 5'11 and 173 pounds.

Incredible!! You have been such an allstar these past several months, and I am sooooo proud of you! You look phenomenal and are such a great motivator. I feel fortunate to have you as my friend!! Now let's finish this!! xo

I've been on MFP for 6 months and have been eating back practically all of my exercise calories (based on an HRM) all along. I've lost 52 pounds, and I should note that for about a month of my time on MFP I was actively trying to maintain my weight due to my wedding.

It really depends on your body type and bone structure. I'm 5'11 and at my starting weight (223) I was wearing a size 16. At my current weight (174.4) I am wearing a size 10. My goal is to be a size 8 and weigh 150-160, which is the middle of the healthy BMI range.

Hi, ladies! I'm 5'11. My starting weight was 223 (12/28/10), and my current weight is 174.4. Here are some of my before/after shots: My husband and I last Christmas and at my bridal shower this past April. Between the two pictures, I lost 41 pounds, and my husband (then fiance) lost 44 pounds, for a combined 85-pound loss!…
