I've lost 57 pounds pounds. (Still have almost 100 to go). Ran my first 5K in 50 minutes (first time I ran for 60 seconds I thought I was going to die!!) Lost 8 inches from each: hips, waist, and chest.

I'll start. I'm Julie and I started (this time) in January. My oldest brother nearly died in November, and it got me moving. I have lost just over 50 pounds in 6 months. I ran my first 5K in July. My goal is to lose half my body weight (about 150 pounds). I blog at Half a Julie (http://halfajulie.blogspot.com). I'd love to…

Also try eBay. I think my husband said they are doing free listings this week or next. You could put together a few lots with assorted sizes. Another option is ThredUp.com (http://www.thredup.com/shop/women?&filters[sort]=Featured&filters[size_modifier]=3&). They currently have 64 items in size 4x and 40 items in 5x. I'm…

Do you have a nice consignment shop? We have one in town that carries an assortment of plus sizes (along with smaller sizes).

No. I didn't win the costume contest. I was quiet bummed. :( Especially because they didn't even announce it with the prizes. I had to go up and ask someone after they were done. But everybody that saw it though it was perfect. And I liked it. So I guess that's what really matters!

Thanks. I'm not sure if you can tell from this picture, but the shirt and hat are R2D2. There was a costume contest, but apparently an robot from "a galaxy far far away" isn't considered alien enough. The girl who won was the typical green alien.

I live in a relatively small town that is 3 hours from everywhere. I don't know if I can do any out of town races at this time. The next one in town is in September. Maybe I'll be ready for 10K by then! :)
-
That threw me off too! When I ran my first 5K, it took me 65 minutes. I got my time down to 55 minutes over the next few weeks. Last Saturday I ran it in 50 minutes, and today (for my first race) I repeated the 50 minutes. I'd encourage you to move over to a C210K app when you finish. After I did my 5K, I was lost for a…

Awesome run!!! WOW! Glad I wasn't in your race! At 50:04, I was not the last one in. I'm not sure where I actually placed because the 5K and 10K were on the same course. The 5Kers just turned around sooner. I know some 10K runners beat me. But there were people still coming in at least 30 minutes after me.

Just before crossing the finish line

Awesome! I ran my first 5K today!

Someone gave me the idea to check the times from last year's race. I did. Last year, of the 120 women who ran a 5K, there was one who finished in 1:30 and 4 or 5 others who finished in more than an hour. That made me feel a little better. True, the runners will be different this year, but at least I know there are others…

I guess I didn't post my June pictures, but here are some from July. Normally my husband takes the pictures for me, but I haven't been able to coordinate that yet. So I took selfies. :) 6 months into this journey, and I have lost 50 pounds and almost 22 inches (waist, hips, and chest).

I am running my first 5K this month!! (Saturday!!) I also plan to incorporate more weight lifting (both machines and free weights) into my routines.
-
Thanks for the encouragement! :)

That is awesome! Great job! I started out 16 pounds heavier than you did, and I'm just about to 50 pounds down. My sizes are dropping as quickly though :(. I'm still in a 24.
-
Great job! How tall are you? It's funny how bodies don't all respond the same way! I started with similar numbers (306 SW; 260 CW----I can almost see 50 pounds down!!) The funny thing is my size hasn't dropped like yours. I started with 26+ (my 26s were snug and I was wearing 4X elastic waist pants). Now I can fit into 24s…

Great job! I'm doing my first 5K in 2 weeks! :)
-
WOW!! Great job! I really like the first two where you are in the same outfit!

I'm sorry for you loss. :( As you may know, it was almost losing my brother that kickstarted me into action. (He was in ICU for 3 weeks--in a medically induced coma).

The difference in your face is amazing!!
-
Thank you for sharing your story! It gives me great hope. I started right about where you did (306.4). I have lost 44 pounds since January, but I know the journey ahead is still long. Reading stories like yours give me inspiration to keep moving forward.

I don't have an HRM, but I had on my Body Media.

Thanks for the tips. Any others? BTW....I officially signed up....28 days to go!
-
I started at 306 with an initial goal of 150 (roughly half my size). But, I'm not stuck on the number. I may to get 175 and decide that is perfect. I may get to 150 and decide I can go further. I have never been under 175 as an adult. So I don't know what 150 will look like.

I need to get back on track this month! It's been crazy at the office + birthday party for my 8 year old.....I've had a hard time getting motivated and staying motivated. This month, I want to hit 50 pounds gone (1/3 of my goal!!) I have 8 pounds to make that goal. I also need to work on my outside running as my first 5K…

Amazing!! Keep up the great work!

Wow! What an incredible story! Thanks for sharing!

I spoke too soon! It's back. :(
