You can go for a walk though. It may not be as fast as running but it is a lot faster than sitting on the sofa!

Drink more water and then some more!

Good luck, you can but ask. I asked when I was told I was too overweight by a doctor to have a repeat prescription of the pill. But I wasn't SUFFICIENTLY overweight to get NHS help to get smaller. I was a bit unimpressed with that!

if you go too cheap, you might get horse... ... in terms of best value rather than cheapest, Morrisons is a good bet because they own all their own pigs, farms, abattoirs etc

Possible causes: You say dehydration - is that because you don't drink enough water? In which case, drink more. If you find it boring, try adding slices of lemon or lime. I add a tablespoon of fresh lime juice to 1/2 litre. If you ARE drinking lots of water, maybe you need to take in more salt. Sweat is a mixture of salt…

.?? I have been running a calorie deficit for 8 weeks, involving dieting, cardio and weights. I have lost 14lb and my body fat % is down 8% so I must be getting some muscle. My middle is firmer and legs slimmer

What country are you in? If UK or US, an entry level Jamis will get you started. I have the Ventura Race 2012 and it is stiff enough to go fast for its spec, but is solid enough for a beginner. I love it.

I can't recommend a heart rate monitor with a chest strap enough. Mainly because as you do more exercise, it varies massively how your body responds. E.g. I have gone heavy into cycling and spinning. Now my technique is getting better, the calories my body burns doing a spin class is nearly half that when I first started.…

Find exercise you enjoy and do it. If exercise feels like a chore, it will go by the wayside.

get one that is labelled from sainsburys/tesco that gives you the cals per 100g then weigh a co-op one

hehe love it

Thanks everyone. I am going to deffo try to feel the love for rice cakes. I have always distrusted them for no good reason... Maybe because I associate rice with being way high in cals/carbs etc

Don't see why not, I have lost 8% since New Years Day and I don't do much in the way of specific strength/lifting. I probably do one or two sessions a week of machine weights, mid-weight, mid-reps. Mine has come from doing weight-bearing cardio, so hiking on hilly, uneven terrain, cycling and spinning on high resistance…

My hubby is not on the "programme" as it were, but does like to be outdoors. So we have joined a walking group that goes out Saturdays and a cycling club for Sundays. Then we eat lots because I have the calorie space and he likes to eat anyway.

I don't know what a fitbit is, but I would wear a heart rate monitor with a chest strap then you just press go and at the end it tells you what you have burned

I do it with a watch. If you have access to a treadmill, use the timer on that.

Hello, it's really hard to see how to help if we can't see your diary. Also, do you know what your BMR and TDEE is? If you are 5' 0" and currently weigh 100lb, this will be a very different conversation to if you are 6'0" and 300lb. Also, how much water do you drink each day?

I have used it swimming and it worked. But then I have also seen this, so not sure... http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/305099-polar-ft7-transmitter-s-prob-under-water

How are you feeling? Your body is a better barometer than us. With all that walking drink loads of water too

Do you have an iphone? I have the Polar H7 bluetooth cheststrap which turns my iphone into a HRM getting me lots of bells and whistles through apps than the equivalent amount of money spent on an HRM

A response to my profile that basically said about all the things I am interested in/like to do "I have never tried/done x,y,z etc but I want to learn so that I can be with you" Intense much?

^^THIS^^ the most accurate way (not promising it is actually accurate, you will find lots of commentary around the forums disputing their accuracy) is using a chest strap heart rate monitor. However, it gives you total calories burned and you need to subtract the number of calories you would have burned from sitting on the…

"have your boobs got bigger?" "no, rest of me is smaller"

If you don't eat your exercise calories back your body will be underfuelled, so you will get cold/shaky/muscles will be a bit rubbish That said, I get a bit chilly after big workouts, so I always have loads of layers to hand to pile on afterwards

The woman who spends ages in the changing room naked, doing her hair, makeup, checking text messages. I'm no prude but it is odd The people hogging cardio machines going super slow and reading a book at the same time People who go on the machine next to you and peer over to see how fast you are going

The pub and cycling club

Polar seems to be pretty industry standard to interact with machines in the gym, so that's a good brand Otherwise, just make sure it has a chest strap which is the most effective way for it to measure your heartrate
