Congratulations on hitting your first milestone! After many attempts to lose the weight I have gained since marriage and two kids, I am finally finding success and am NOT telling anyone this time, particularly my husband. He is very competitive with me and will start trying to out-do me (which he always manages to do), his…

Just for today, I will 1. Log everything. 2. Stop trying to lose 2lb. a week and go for 1.5. 3. Avoid the elevator; climb the 44 stairs. Twice. 4. Do not skip the exercise class today.

Same thing happened to my 19 yo daughter -- out of thirty or so relatives she hadn't seen in a year, only her grandmother told her how great she looked. She has lost about 75 pounds in a year while away at college and is now down to a size six (at 5'6") and gorgeous. I am sixty years old and don't take it too hard when…

I would recommend walking in your neighborhood first thing in the morning, even it if's just up and down the block one time until you can do more. If you dress for it as soon as you get up and just get out the door, it's easier to do on a daily basis. I struggle with this, too.

Wow, who knew he was an MFP member! ;-)

Well, judging from the picture, I guess Chobani greek yogurt is the breakfast to eat. :-)

Sonic Drive-In Jr. bacon, egg and cheese burrito for 288 calories after burning that off at the gym (lol), but it was really good.

Best advice I have received is to start back weighing and measuring everything you eat. Sometimes the portions creep up, and with the small margin you have, it could make the difference.
-
Another tip: If it is, in fact, a tasting, the portions offered may be closer to two or three ounces, which may be entirely satisfying if you are tasting six wines.

I spent the weekend with family I hadn't seen since Christmas and no one noticed I had lost weight (started MFP on Jan 1). However, one relative saw me wearing a blue blouse and said, "Wow! That's your color"! Another saw me and said, "You did something to your hair -- is it lighter, what? Looks great" (My hair has been…

How great! You have done a fantastic thing for yourself and those who love you.

Weigh again tomorrow and maybe the next day, too, to see if the "gain" is real or just temporary.

Sweet snack: Right now the black plums are delicious Savory snack: Mini-Babybel Light Cheese or Sargento Light String Cheese (both are 50 cal & 6g protein)

I use MFP, too. I do strength training three times a week, and I don't add any calories back for it. The way I look at it, I'm probably cheating somewhere else during the day, so it's probably a wash. Anyway, I am averaging almost a two pound a week weight loss since January 1, so I am not complaining.

I look at it this way. In six months, I can either be the same weight I am today, or I can be 26 pounds lighter. The six months is going to pass either way.

Copy and paste this link into your brower to see what the Mayo Clinic has to say about your water requirements. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/water/NU00283. Also, you may have been getting extra fluid from other beverages -- have you cut out sodas or coffee (or beer)?

Don't forget to drink plenty of water, thouigh.

Great idea. From a FB Group: "As Lent begins, people talk about giving up various indulgences, some give up chocolate, others alcohol and the big thing this year is Facebook. Instead of giving something up, why not GIVE YOUR TIME instead (at least an hour a week). Volunteer at a soup kitchen, mentor an at-risk child, help…

When you click Complete This Entry at the end of the day, and you are eating too few calories, a message will appear that says, "Based on your total colories consumed for today, you are eating too few calories..." and goes on to talk about metabolism. I'm not sure if this is a fixed number or based on your profile, but on…

Gotta be Olive Garden. Those breadsticks are deadly.

That's awesome for you and an inspiration for me! That's a benchmark I'm hoping to reach this summer. Keep up the good work.

Also, I drink sixteen ounces when I first get up in the morning. Since I'm usually a bit dehydrated then, it's not that hard to do.

It's pricy, but, if you like it, try the San Pellegrino (unflavored) or the Perrier sparkling waters. I figure I'm saving money on fast food and booze I'm no longer buying, so I can splurge on stuff like this. Not for all eight glasses, but a couple. I also do the decaf green tea in the morning and sometimes late…

I log my supplements, which include calcium, because I like to check the "Nutrients" tab (Home Screen) on my smartphone app to see if I am over or under on certain things by the end of the day. Word of caution: not all the food database entries have complete or correct nutrient information; they just have the calories. You…

Woo-hoo!!! Must have put a big smile on your face!

It's all the people who got smartphones for Christmas and found the MFP app.

Don't feel bad. I had a 3# gain this week and I was under my calories for the week. I'm chalking it up to getting back to my exercise program after three weeks of bronchitis. Muscle weighs more than fat? Of course I had a margarita Friday night and a daquiri Saturday night. Bloat? Take the long view and just keep logging.…
