Help on calculating wine calories...

I'm going to a wine tasting tonight and want to be prepared up front. Is there a way to give a good guess on how many calories a glass of wine has? All I know is there will be 3 whites and 3 reds.

Wine is typically around 120-130 cals per glass (5 oz). Red and white are fairly similar in cals.0

you can look it up online.. it varies for all. 5 oz serving... red wine is 106 and white is 100 (for rough estimates)
Edited to say, her cals ar a little higher because wine varies in alcohol content from 10% - 14%. Therefore the higher the alcohol, the higher the calories0 -
Hey that's great to know. Now I can feel slightly less guilty every time I polish off a bottle of my favorite Pinot Noir. LMAO!0

I have trouble estimating how many ounces because I have different sized glasses. I drink one of my glasses and call it two, cuz they seem large to me... LOL0 -
Another tip: If it is, in fact, a tasting, the portions offered may be closer to two or three ounces, which may be entirely satisfying if you are tasting six wines.0

We had the same problem, so we filled our different sized glasses with water, then poured it from the wine glass into a clear measuring cup that is marked with ounces. Not that it matters, we usually end up finishing off the bottle anyway... LOL0 -
I'd go with 25 calories per ounce, and overestimate the number of ounces if you're unsure.0

25 cal / oz. I agree..0

Yep! Tastings are usually only 2-3oz/pour so that you're not too tipsy by wine #5-6. Plus, a lot of times they'll have a sort of spittoon-thing there so that you are tasting, but not actually drinking, all that wine. Not that I have ever spit any out!0 -

ha, i never have that problem. the label on the bottle tells me how many ounces i'm about to consume. ah, i've had to leave the wine alone while losing weight. wahhh....0
