You know it's quite possible that your body is totally different now than it was pre-baby. You may never be able to regain control in the same ways you did before. Glad your getting back on the Lantus/Levimeer they are much nicer. Whatever you do, please please please DO NOT do the Diarexia thing. I've been diabetic for…

WOW!! Congrats on the weight loss, that is awesome. You should be so proud of yourself. That is quite the accomplishment. I'm impressed. This gives me hope. I would like to lose 40 more pounds and it seems like such a task. One day at a time. Thanks for the encouragement and same to you!

Boy that Ollie is a cutie patootie! Reminds me of Husak! We mainly rescue pits here at The Pit Stop rescue, but we're open to all dogs. We have a little Boston girl here right now waiting for a home, she's a doll. If I didn't know any better I'd swear she was a pit bull in a BT body, lol. She is so laid back. It always…

I have 3 Pit Bulls, Husak, Miley and Angus. I currently have a Boston Terrier as a foster we are looking for a good home for. She is around 10, she is completely deaf and incontinent. She wears a pamper (size 4) and I put a onzie or a sleeper on her so she doesn't spin the diaper off. She is getting good at that. She's…

I have a service dog but I came by him on accident. I rescued him at 4 months old and he and I bonded very closely. When he was 1 1/2 or 2 years old, we noticed whenever I had a low he was practically on top of me on the couch or bed. We began rewarding him for this behavior and now he lets me know way in advance. He is…

I just suffered a chronic low this week where my husband had to call the paramedics out. I was at 32 and the only thing I recall is wanting to be left alone and just go to sleep. That was only the second time in 23 years. My best friend has at least one low like this every week for months and I believe it did cause some…

RG, he is absolutely a blessing. There is a song "Angels Among Us" I think it's by Alabama, not sure though, but every time I hear it, it makes me think of him. I wish everyone had a Husak in their lives. I wouldn't think of driving my car without him as co-pilot.

Hi there, Yep I've heard the term before, along with "diarexic". I used this method for 20+ years to maintain my weight. It worked beautifully, however I do not recommend it at all. I was diagnosed at age 20 and by age 42 I've had open-heart, triple bypass, a viterectomy, diabetic retinopothy, neuropothy in my hands and…

I have to agree, Pit Bulls are probably the best breed out there. Huge hearts, loyal, loving and so forgiving. Sorry about your loss CarrieBeard, I have a 10 year old with bad hips and 2 replaced knees. My mom has a Pit Bull, a Rat Terrorist, a Min Pin, and a Chihuahua. The Rat Terrorist is the one who starts all the…

I find that sometimes using a GentleLeader is the best tool for a dog that likes to throw his weight around. It's really humane and safe for both the dog and the handler. I have used an EZ-walk harness on my 100 lb. puppy and the difference in him is like night and day. I try to keep it down to 10 minute sessions, 2 or 3…

Thank you so much Diane! So far, I am loving MFP. It is a really huge help. It takes so much of the guess work out of the foods that I am eating. I'm also looking forward to learning more about the pump. I feel like I have been "guestimating" my whole life. I'm really looking forward to getting to know everyone better.…

I do have a dog that lets me know when I'm low. The weird thing is, he looks very much like Mary Tyler Moores red-nose pit bull. His name is Special Agent Husak. I did not teach him this, he just started doing it on his own. He has always been very close with me and my husband noticed his odd behavior when I got too low…

Wow! Congrats on the 74 lbs.!! Great job. I own a pet sitting company called Critter Sitters so lucky for me I get to see what owning lots of different breeds would be like. Angus is right around 100 lbs. and his very best friend was a Boston Terrorist. I swear they had no off button. It's wise to be mindful of their size…

I'm starting fresh too. T1D for over 20 yrs. and need to lose about 50 lbs. I just now have health insurance so I intend to take full advantage of better Dr.s and educaters. I am learning so much so fast it is hard to take it all in. I am super interested in learning more about the pump too.

I'm new here too, I have been hospitalized with DKA a few times and it never gets any easier. I've been T1 Diabetic for 23 years and am just now learning to count carbs. I never had any insurance for all those years and dealt with my Diabetes as best as I could. I have definitely paid the price too. Now that I have…

That is fantastic about your eyes! I have a bleed in my right eye right now and I am on blood thinners too, so it just keeps bleeding and bleeding. I have been blind in that eye since November and it's annoying as hell. The Dr. says I just have to wait it out and keep my numbers good and eventually the blood will reabsorb.…

I sure know where you are coming from. When I was younger I couldn't get motivated to manage it either. I found I could control my weight by letting my B sugars get really high. I didn't seem to notice any adverse effects from it either. My best friend, Emily, was diagnosed the same time I was. We were best friends for 32…

My scariest low wasn't my lowest number but I have very little memory of most of it. I ended up wrecking my jeep on the way to work one morning. I drove through signs and drove down sidewalks and thankfully missed other cars and pedestrians. The police finally blocked me in at a McDonalds and arrested me. When the…

WOW, congrats! I will be celebrating next month, (if I make it, LOL) my 23rd year with type 1. I was 20 when I was diagnosed. I still have all my parts too. I am losing my eyesight though to Diabetic Retinopathy and I have Charcot's Joint in my right foot really bad. I have some eating issues with Diabetic Gastric Parisis…
