Cranberries & orange extract or dried blueberries or raisins & cinnamon or dried cherries, all with a little half & half & raw sugar, sometimes a few nuts.

I've been on this see saw for several months now and just want to show people how weighing once a week or weighing daily can produce confusion about weight loss. Having a weekly weigh in can be discouraging when it shows a gain of a pound or two when in reality that hasn't happened. I picked Friday as my weigh in day…

My NSV was braving the cold, -2 this morning, to go downhill skiing with my son. This is the son who, at 46, had a heart attack last March. If nothing else in life is going good right now, I had the joy of spending an awesome day doing something we both love.

Username: Rocknut53 December Week 1 Previous Weight: 146.1 Current weight: 147.8 Still bouncing around like a basketball. Not going up overall. I guess I really don't play well with others. :/

December 5 Exercise: yes, finally a substantial hike (in the cold) Calories: yes Tracked: yes I'm still hanging in there. Making progress with the scheduling for my hubby's heart surgery, 2nd week in January with some tests being done here at home before we head to Utah. I have a huge sense of relief, my husband not so…

I'm not trying to be rude either, but your original post came off as sounding a little whiny. That said, @sijomial has given you good advice. A half pound a week is great progress! If you aren't using a food scale, now would be a good time to incorporate that into your weight loss journey. With so little to lose a scale…

I just want to add that in addition to looking absolutely fantastic, you look very confident. Don't let anyone take that away from you.

Me again, same weight as when I started, same emotional baggage that keeps getting in my way. 65th birthday just a couple days away. Even though I'm not seeing results on the scale you all are keeping me focused just watching your successes. With December looming and my husband's <3 surgery in Utah sometime during that…

My 46 year old son had a heart attack last March while he was ice climbing in the backcountry in Wyoming. He had to rappel off two pitches and hike out to his truck. He was 5 hours getting to the ER. The cause was a blood clot, not plaque buildup so no bypasses. They thought he had extensive damage to his heart, but when…

You and I are kindred spirits. Depression has a large hold on me right now, no particular reason, every reason. It is easier to internalize it than try to explain to anyone what's going on in my head.

@12Sarah2015 This will help you cool down:

Here's a calorie tracker to play with: http://calorielab.com/burned You don't want to under-fuel your body, it will catch up with you in terms of not feeling real good plus a multitude of other issues. If you're feeling energetic and not tired, you're probably doing fine. If you are doing strenuous prolonged exercise you…

@dommylifts Even though MFP tells you to eat back your exercise calories because those are figured into the formula for you calorie intake, I don't eat them all. The recommendation is 50%. Calorie burn and intake is just an estimate at best. If you are losing at the rate you have set up you're doing fine. Losing too fast?…

Rocknut53 Nov. Week 3 PW: 146.6 CW: 147 I'm beginning to think this is an exercise in futility. Sorry I'm not more helpful to the team. I'm feeling thankful to just be able to maintain with all that's going on in my life.

I made my pumpkin pies from pumpkins from my garden. All I can say is, "whoopee sh**" I should have used the canned. The pie is OK, just that, OK.

There are lots of online sources for how to's on gardening. State universities, their websites will have an .edu address, can help with your particular area based on growing season and such. Raised beds are awesome. I have quite a few and it makes gardening so much easier.

You took the words right out of my mouth! I'm fluctuating between 15-18# over my low of 129 and finding it really hard to turn that scale around. I know the how's and why's, I just can't seem to get it together. Life has thrown me some crap this year (doesn't it do that to everyone?) and it (the crap) just keeps coming.…

Also remember that weight loss is about eating less calories than you burn. Your boyfriend didn't lose all his weight because he was jogging, he lost weight because he was in a calorie deficit, which exercise did help him achieve. As anyone will tell you, "you can't out exercise a bad diet." I'm not a runner so other than…

@leslckaBod Thank you for your response. In answer to your question, I have 2 dogs now, a black lab and a 9 month old rescue pup of undetermined origin. They are my hiking buddies and a reason to get out. You're right, the hiking is my stress relief. The days I don't hike are much harder to deal with than the days I do.…

November 14 Exercise: Yes, another snowy hike on a sunny day. Calories: Yes Tracked: Yes Back on track after a totally messed up day yesterday. Finally have word on my husband's heart condition and it's worse than we had hoped. He's facing a very complex open heart surgery to fix several issues. We have to travel several…

Have you tried making s'mores with Reese's peanut butter cups?

November 12 Exercise: Yes, hiked over 4 miles in the snow uphill both ways :D ...not really. Uphill for 2 miles, 1600 feet elevation gain. The snow makes it feel like the first time I've done it. Calories: yes Tracked: yes I'm hoping for a better week than last week. Still no resolution for hubby's heart issues, but that…

I wish I detest peanut butter. :D
