  • I can totally relate! I lost over 40 pounds about 6 years ago and have gained almost all of it back in the past few years. I've had people ask me when I was due before - arg! - and it's time to rededicate myself to better eating and exercise habits. I wish I could have that type of body that looks okay without too much…
  • I can totally relate! I lost about 40 pounds over 5 years ago (from 170 to 130) and maintained in the 130s for a few years, then went up to the 140s for another few years. I got married a year ago and just weighed myself to find I'm over 150. YIKES. Never thought I'd be back above that number again. So I'm starting again…
  • Cottage cheese (1/2 cup) and blueberries. YUM! Only 125 cals so I will need a snack very soon, and will probably have a banana with some peanut butter.
  • Mmm I love it now. Definitely an acquired taste, but if you add stuff to it (honey, fruit, nuts, etc) it becomes palatable and in time, you can eat it with less sugary add-ons. Just this morning I had 1/2 cup fage non-fat yogurt with a teaspoon of honey and a 1/3 cup of bran buds. Delicious.
  • I'm in the same boat. 5'3", 139 lb with about 10 lbs to lose. Trying to get to those last 10 pounds to be truly fit and happy about my weight. Also have our wedding as a goal this coming November. I agree that 1200 might be too low when you are only losing a little. I found that I was REALLY hungry when I was trying to eat…
  • Way to go! That's awesome! I can relate about relationship weight. I just found an old gym notebook of mine where I wrote down my weight and measurements back before I met my now-fiance. I was 120 lbs and fit, working out all the time and eating well. Fast-forward almost 4 years and I gained over 30 pounds!! That's a lot…
  • I don't record on weekends either. Not because I binge eat, but because I want to have those two days where I don't have to obsessively log everything! I still eat very well (with maybe an extra drink or two) but it feels great to have the mental break from logging. Makes me feel like I'm normal and not dieting my whole…
  • You can totally tell the difference. Keep up the great work!!
  • You can totally do it! Having the 5 mile race to keep you motivated is a really good idea. Maybe you can give yourself a rule, such as you can only read the boards for 20 minutes and then you have to go stretch or do sit-ups or other home workouts to earn the time to read MFP again. Feel free to friend me if you want…
  • I looked this up once too, and remember reading (on the Food Pyramid website, I think) that the 24 grams of sugar is added sugar only, not fruits and veggies. So that's what I go by.

  • Wow! Thanks for all the quick responses already. I definitely drink enough water but I'm not sure if I'm having enough sugar or sodium. I've been trying to keep those both to a minimum. I'll experiment with more snacks. It's weird, I normally try to only snack if I'm hungry, but it sounds like maybe I need to give myself a…
  • I want to know the answer to this too! Looking for a HRM that keeps track or HR and calories burned.
  • That sounds about right. Anywhere between a week and two weeks. Then it's just easy on some days and still really hard on others. It's a long process, but worth it in the end!
  • What about some nuts or peanut butter? Extra protein, good fats and high calorie depending on the serving size.
  • Just make sure you eat your exercise calories! So important. Good luck!
  • Mine is public too so feel free to add me! I try to get some variety in my meals, especially dinner. And I usually need a few small snacks at work. My goal is 1330 calories but when I work out I definitely eat more, up to 1700 calories a day. I work out ~4 days/week and am trying to lose 15-20 lbs by my wedding in November.
  • which model did you get? i'm thinking about getting it too but wasn't sure which one. i don't need to keep track of intervals or anything, just want to know my heart rate and calories burned.
  • ACK SCARY! glad the kids are cute though :)
  • I agree with Megooo. 1200 calories might be too few. I tried that for one week and was lightheaded, grouchy, and very hungry. I changed my setting to "lose 1 lb per week" instead of 1.5, and it bumped me to 1330. This is definitely more manageable for me. Just the extra 100 calories meant that I could have one additional…
  • Try fruit or - especially - dried fruit. Best kind of fiber for that kind of problem. Dried apricots will probably do the trick.
  • My biggest help was lots of veggies and fruits. They help keep the cravings for other things done because I still get the pleasure of eating without all the junk. For lunch I have a turkey sandwich and always have veggies (carrots, sugar snap peas, cut up celery) on the side instead of my old way - soy crisps or pop chips.…
  • Me too! I'm getting married in November and am trying to get down to my goal weight before summer so I can maintain and tone during the final months. So excited to be getting married! Good luck to everyone!
  • Wow! So many good ideas already. Thank you! Keep 'em coming!
  • I'm joining for the same reason. After losing some weight a few years back (and keeping it off), I'm now in a total rut. I've found that going to the gym a few days a week helps me maintain, but I can't lose real weight unless I change my eating habits and really focus on calorie counting. Otherwise I sneak far too many…
  • Me too! Trying to lose 10 pounds by Aptil... then another 10 by September. It'll be great to have this group to motivate!
