Experiencing Dizziness

I've been on MFP for about 9 weeks, and I have recently begun feeling dizzy/light headed, even when I don't feel hungry. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with my lower calorie intake, because I've been keeping my diet steady for the last 9 weeks and am only feeling this dizziness now.
FYI - I eat ~1350 calories on days I don't exercise, don't drink a ton of alcohol and have no other known health issues.
Anybody else experiencing dizziness? Any thoughts on what to do? (Besides see a doctor, which I'll do if this continues)
Thanks!

could very possibly be your blood sugar levels. Even if you are not diabetic, your blood sugar levels can fluctuate like crazy!!
I have found that even when I am not hungry, if it's been more than three hours since I ate, my blood sugar will have plummeted and I will feel dizzy, light headed, sometimes even nauseous. I have taken to eating smaller meals, and including snacks about every three hours to avoid this. I eat breakfast around 8, have a snack somewhere between 11 and 12, and lunch at 2.
Might be worth giving a try. Carrots and dip can be a good, healthy snack, and will still keep your sugars up.
Hope this helps!!0 -
How much water are you drinking? You might be dehydrated.0

eating enough carbs? drinking enough water?0

I ended up in Urgent Care yesterday for this exact thing, and it was my blood sugar. Make sure you're getting enough sugar in your diet. The doc told me to keep a candy bar *GASP!* in my purse in case I start feeling like that again. I grabbed and downed a powerade (56g sugar) to spike my sugar back up and felt much better!0

What are your salt totals? I have naturally low blood pressure so when I start eating clean, I have this happen quite a bit because I don't have enough salt in my system. The doctor suggest I eat a bowl of plain buillon a day to keep everything in balance. Mine is hereditary though - my great grandma keeps ending up in the hospital for low sodium counts, and my mom has the same thing.0

That's so weird. I had the same thing happen to me. I went to the Urgent Care. They couldn't find nothing wrong with me. Blood test results checked out fine. I haven't had an episode since. It just seems like it comes out of nowhere when it happens.0

I think your doctor is nuts!!! If you eat a candy bar, which has ALL sugary carbs, your blood sugar will simply spike and them plummet again because it's not supplemented with non-sugary carbs [Complex Carbs] which will keep your blood sugar at a reasonable level.0 -
Low blood sugar and low blood pressure were my 2 suggestions, too. I frequently get dizzy, especially when trying to lose weight, even when I'm eating and drinking enough. My Dr recommended a handful of nuts to bring both back up to normal range. I keep Planters trail mix in the house for that purpose.0

Wow! Thanks for all the quick responses already. I definitely drink enough water but I'm not sure if I'm having enough sugar or sodium. I've been trying to keep those both to a minimum. I'll experiment with more snacks.
It's weird, I normally try to only snack if I'm hungry, but it sounds like maybe I need to give myself a forced snack and smaller meals in general.0 -
I had the same problem, I started eating sugar cause I thought I was going through withdrawal but it didn't help. what worked for me was water, I wasn't drinking enough. Once I started drinking at least 8 glasses a day, my dizziness went away. Remember, everyone is different and if you continue being dizzy, it could mean alot of reason, including low iron, ear infection, low red blood cells... So if it is consistent and persistent, go see your doctor! Hope you feel better soon!0

Absolutely.
My mom's nutritionist told us that healthy portions would be 3 meals a day, and 2 snacks a day.
We count carbs, so for us it's 3 meals of less than 60 carbs, and 2 snacks of less than 30 carbs.
Not telling you what to do, just throwing out some advice!!0 -
This happens to me CONSTANTLY. Powerade and candy bar big no no. stick to something between 2 and 3 grams of sugar and it will stabilize.Fruit or 4 oz of regular cola are excellant choices. Give yourself 5-10 minutes and if you still feel bad drink a little more accordingly. too much will spike and then plummet. you want to keep it stable not to let it fluctuate. Low blood sugar is the worst feeling in the world.0

Blood sugar levels and dehydrated both for sure!!!! Try eating those calories in smaller chunks more ofetn throughout the day, for me, my max time is about 3 and a half hours in between meals. I had a blood sugar crash and severe spike that caused me to blackout in my bathroom at home, caused by not eating regularly throughout the day, then trying to make up for it later...
You'll be alright, just think about the little things and what little changes you can make to help get you through!! Good luck girlie!!0
