  • I found a lot of help in Jules Dowler Shepard's Book, "Celiac Disease and Living Gluten Free" It is a guide for the first year after diagnosis. She has recipes, how to make your own flour blend for baking, and how to handle special things, like Thanksgiving. It was a lifesaver when my son was diagnosed in high school. A…
  • I had a Huawei MyTouch and it was the worst phone I ever had. I didn't have any problems with the previous Samsung phones. I would never own a Huawei again.
  • I just sent you a friend request. I'm 50, married with 3 kids. The accountablilty partners I started with January 2014 have all dropped out. Looking for a couple of more friends in the same demographic as you.
  • My go-to breakfast is 1 Light Multigrain English Muffin (8 g fiber, 100 calories), with 2 Tblsp Chunky Peanut Butter. About 300 calories and I'm usually full until lunch. If not, I bring a light greek yogurt (80 cal) for a snack, but only eat it before lunch once in a while. Today I ate lunch early due to meetings, and may…
  • You can always "challenge" your hunger. I question myself. Do I think I'm hungry because the clock says it is lunch time? Do I think I'm hungry when I'm really sleep deprived or bored or something. I will decide that I'll have a glass of water and wait 10 minutes. If I'm still hungry after 10 minutes, then I'll have a…
  • That was much more complementary than my sister in law was to me. She noticed I had lost weight (about 20 pounds at the time) and she mentioned that she had gained so much that a lot of her clothes didn't fit. She said she was "almost as fat as Janice." I decided that at the rate I was losing and dropping sizes, that by…
  • Thank you for sharing this. What a great display of God's love.
  • Be sure to look at the reports tab and look at your weight over a 6 month or year period. When I feel discouraged because the scale says I am up or haven't lost, I can look at that overall line. It is quite jagged, but overall going down.
  • I like flat out flatbread wraps in the multigrain. 8 g of fiber with 100 calories. I use those instead of tortillas or sandwich bread. My other go-to is Light Multi-grain English Muffins. Also 8g fiber and 100 calories. I use those as hamburger buns. My son likes to put chicken salad on a toasted English Muffin.
  • I really like the gluten free all purpose flour by Jules Shepard. I think she is now marketing it under gf_Jules or something like that. It may be available in stores, just not around here. It truly is a cup-for-cup replacement and I have made all kinds of cookies and breads using it. I also subscribe to her…
  • When there are donuts at my office, I wait for a while. Then I go look at them. If my absolute favorite isn't there, then I skip it. I''m not going to eat a donut that I don't really love. It is not worth the calories. Now, if there is a bavarian creme filled chocolate covered donut there, I'm eating it. Slowly, enjoying…
  • Thank you Lynne. Last night's service was a beautiful celebration of a life well lived. This lady was in her 80's and had led her 3 children and multiple grandchildren to the Lord. The family misses her here, but knows that she is already with Jesus and her physical limitations are gone. We had plenty of food and were able…
  • I have logged everything eaten so far today. I am working on being very mindful today since we have a funeral and reception following at church this evening. I want to be able to have a few snacks (if I'm hungry) after the service. I went back to bed after everyone left this morning. Due to some pain last night, I didn't…
  • Mindless eating. It is easy to eat a handful of nuts and then reach for another. Same with M & M's chips, cookies, whatever. Once I decided to log everything I eat, then I have to think "Do I want to eat this bad enough to get my phone out an log it?" Lots of times, I decide that I'm not really that hungry. I also question…
  • You are right. If they are truly concerned about the gluten, they would be asking if you grill the chicken on the same grill as you warm hamburger buns. Or if the chicken was injected with modified food starch, which lots of times contains gluten. Or if the fries are fried in the same oil as the onion rings and chicken…
  • I am really glad that the gluten-free craze has become such a fad. My son was diagnosed as Celiac 6 years ago, it is so much easier to find readily available gluten-free items as well as the stores are making store-brands of pasta, etc which also makes them more affordable. Companies follow the dollars and there aren't…
  • Thank you for the prayers. It has been a crazy week, but God has carried my family through it. Each of my 3 children has faced a trial (health, relationships, legal, school) in the past week, and God has helped each of them. My family is blessed.
  • How about an alternate celebration? Maybe a movie, bowling, hiking, etc. If you can find something from your childhood that you both enjoyed together, that might be a wonderful way to celebrate. For example, my brother loved fishing with my dad, so I might suggest going fishing to celebrate something for him.
  • I was wondering this, so I searched through the MFP technical issues. Here is the answer they gave to another poster: Hi, Thank you for taking the time to post your question. The Community section is not currently available on our mobile apps. Our apps are meant to compliment the website not replace it; there are some…
  • I was thinking about doing something like this today. I would include "Move" by Mercy Me
  • kcgmom, I felt the same way this morning as I read chapter 4. I am starting to like the idea of having a partner online that is on My Fitness Pal and also doing Made to Crave. I did find a M2C group here on MFP, so I joined that.
  • I am so glad I found this group. I was reading today's blog and trying to figure out how to answer our question. I do want an accountability partner, but don't have anyone that comes to mind to ask. My husband is always supportive, but he has no way to understand cravings, emotional eating, etc. If any of you want to work…
