I've worked in male-dominated settings and have definitely noticed that I've gotten special treatment. I never took advantage of it, but it happened. When I worked in a retail environment, we were partly paid by commission, and I never had problems selling things, whereas many of my male coworkers did. I've thought about…

I can't speak from personal experience but a friend of mine got breast reduction surgery after she graduated from high school. She said that while the surgery/recovery itself was uncomfortable, she is happy with the results and doesn't regret it. She no longer has back problems (which was why she got the surgery in the…

Haha that didn't feel like much of a ramble! You're a very good writer. Anyways... It's sad to hear that one of your friends is at a low point in their lives. But you said it yourself at the end: you've realized you can't change her. And the thing about relationships is that people do change, and sometimes the relationship…

Sleeping. I had a dream that I was hanging out with the Mythbusters.

Great job so far. There is a huge difference in your face! You're on the right track, so keep it up! :flowerforyou:

It's easy to get overwhelmed if you only look at your final goal. Things are a lot more manageable if you look at your progress in little goals. View each 10 or 15 pounds as a success in itself (because it is!), and your journey will be a lot more sustainable.

Congrats on your success! I agree with LadyRhodes. You don't have to go from 1300 to 1750 instantly. You can start off adding 100 calories, get used to it, and then add more until you're at a level where you're maintaining your weight and still comfortable with the amount you're eating. Good luck!

It didn't hinder the process for me. I like Coke Zero better than Diet Coke, though. :)

Wow that's tiny... Everyone's different though. I'm no doctor, but if you say you are eating enough food, healthy enough to exercise regularly, and you feel fine, then I don't think there's any reason to worry.

I have no sleep schedule... sometimes I pull all-nighters (typical of student life), and the next day I'll sleep for 17 hours straight. On the off-chance I do get a regular night's sleep, I find my body wakes up naturally after around 9 or 10 hours.

It's normal to be more bloated. Mind you, make sure you are getting enough iron. If your period gets heavier than you're used to, it could be a sign of anemia.

I've never seen that before (maybe they don't do it the same in Canada?). They have squeeze bottles for the sauces and the knife is only used to cut the bread. But then again I only get 6 inch ones so they don't even need to cut mine :) My friend did get food poisoning from Subway once. He can't stand the smell of it now.

Totally agree! I make sure to take progress pics so when I feel my motivation running low, I can see how far I've come and where I still want to go.

Thanks :)

fantastic job!

First off, congrats on your success thus far! I think this is a tricky subject and that in the end there is blame on both your side and your mom's side. Yes, when you were really young, you had to eat what she fed you. But once you had gotten into your teens, there probably was an opportunity to stand up for yourself a…

This was a really interesting post! I'm surprised that there wasn't a huge debate about it... not that there should have been. I'm fairly short (5'3") and if I were to eat 2000 calories like the government says I can, my weight would skyrocket!

Isn't advice just a subtle, nicer form of criticism?

I've read all his books. I like each one for different reasons, but generally people only like them if they're into young adult fiction. Personally I really like his writing style. You can tell (especially in his earlier books, like Looking for Alaska) that he was heavily influenced by Salinger (The Catcher in the Rye). I…

Oh my gosh, I just wanted to get it off my chest, I didn't think so many people would read it! Thanks to everyone who responded :') It means a lot. I've logged it all, looked at old pictures of me to remind me of how far I've come, and moved on. Once again thanks everybody!! :flowerforyou:

When I'm a little low for the day I sneak in a glass of chocolate milk. Yum :)

I'm sure you are aware of this, but not all of us have diets that are "saturated" in meat. I find myself eating VERY little meat not out of choice, but out of habit. It negatively impacts my health. My protein and iron levels are very low, usually under half what I'm supposed to get, daily. I have been anemic for most of…

A lot lower than the other people on here, but whatever: around 20 g.

5' 3.5" HW: 161 (June 2012) LW: 138 (I've always been a little chubby) CW: 148 GW: 125-130 (More focused on inches, TBH) I'd like to be 135-140 by Christmas! :)

Wow, that sucks... maybe his parents? :frown:

I shorten my stride. As far as turn over goes, I don't worry too much about it--rather I try to keep my perceived effort level the same.

LOL. As a teenager my parents were utterly convinced I ate healthily because I always ate well... in front of them. If they had been the ones taking the trash out of my room though... let's just say the evidence that would have suggested otherwise would have been brought to light...

Recovering binge eater here. I think it really depends on you. Some people can do it by themselves, and some people need extra help. It's kind of like how some people can just give up junk food once and for all and never look back, while other people have to find a way to fit treats into their daily lives or else they…
