You are correct in saying that your diet isn't the best. I would advise trying to get some more fruits & vegetables in. It looks like you're trying that already with squash, a salad, and a couple of oranges but eat more! Also, do you put anything in your coffee? Creamers and sugar waste a lot of your daily calories. If you…

What are you going to be doing? If walking, walk faster! If you're in a hotel or a home with enough room in it, do some body weight exercises when you get up in the morning. Other than that, if you are trying to lose weight or maintain, don't splurge on your calories. Otherwise, just have fun! Let loose for a weekend…

The foods I enjoy bringing to work are ones that are super easy to transport and store. Try oranges, pears, baby carrots, or broccoli. Here's a list of others. http://www.livestrong.com/article/27398-list-complex-carbohydrates-foods/

MileS!? With an "S"? Ha, you're already much better than me. I do about a 12 minute mile and even then I struggle. Running/ jogging is not my friend. However, I can walk really fast and do a roughly 13 minute mile as well. It could also be your diet like other posters have said. Maybe try increasing carb intake prior to…

Maybe you're running too fast. Try slowing down. Your brain and legs will probably fight you from it but just try and see if it helps.

Both, they are just different variations. You can look at the link below to find more. http://www.tinareale.com/887/plank-variations/

18.5 is considered underweight but I also wouldn't put too much stock in my BMI number. It doesn't distinguish between muscle and fat. If we were to rely on BMI, my husband would be considered overweight instead of what he really is (thin and muscular).

I am not currently doing 30DS but I have tried it out. I'm really only available to workout during my lunch breaks so I go to classes the gym at work. From what I can tell, the female trainers tend to follow the pattern of 30DS but may mix in a few other things. On the days I take classes with them, I can get on the…

Unless you have a kidney or liver disease, I wouldn't worry about going over protein. If you eat more protein, it's likely that you will feel fuller for longer and then eat less of other higher calorie foods. It will be helpful in your weight loss journey, especially if you are lifting weights. What I see on WebMD is that…

To get rid of fat you have to eat at a deficit. Many people find that they lose fat before they lose weight. It's been my experience so far. It's great that you found an exercise that you enjoy. I'm a little envious that you can do 30DS and train for a 5k. My body doesn't have that endurance yet.

Thanks! I currently have a brace on one of my knees and haven't been working it too strenuously over the past few days just to try to prepare for the walking/standing on Saturday :)

30 shred sound good. You will hav eto modify the jumping jacks and jumping rope though. Can you do squats and lunges with your foot/ankle? If I remember correctly, she uses those exercises too.

The only splurging I plan on doing is at White Castles. I love me some little hamburgers, chicken rings, and big red soda! They don't have any of that stuff in my region. Also Cook Out! I love their hush puppies! Other than that, I believe that I can keep my appetite under control and I don't usually go overboard with fast…

It will but probably not from walking. It will be more from the shows and excitement and will probably come in short bursts. I find conflicting statements on this but does your heart beat really have to be elevated for exercise? Would it be considered elevated if my resting heart rate is 70 and my walking heart rate to be…

I may also try compression. An ace bandage or a knee brace my help. Also try to elevate it if you can. Hopefully it's just a muscle being sore. If it hurts for longer than a few days or gets to the point where you can't put pressure on it or if it starts to swell, I would go to a doctor.

Thanks for your input. I totally agree with you about the cleaning, short walks, and taking a shower thing. I usually only log what I do in the gym. I just wanted to see what others opinions were on this as it is an unusual day for me and I won't have access to a gym this weekend. I also wouldn't consider doing "at home"…

The only problem I see about this method is that I should count the plane ride there (my heart beats really really fast on take off and landing) and I would count the excitement I would feel at seeing each new family member (they will be filtering into the house I'm staying at 1 or 2 at a time for hours). Since I have…

Thanks! I didn't think about just logging on through the phone's browser. Usually websites for computers aren't very phone friendly.

Sometimes I eat them back. I'm sure that over all (through many days), I eat all of my calories back as I'm over some and under others. I have my activity level set to sendetary because I sit at a desk for 8-10 hours a day. Most days I'm able to go to the gym at work but lately I've had a knee injury and more work than…

If your knee is hurting, you may want to give it a rest. You don't want to injure yourself further and not be able to ride your bike at all.

I've seen those at fairs. Even when I wasn't counting calories, I couldn't stomach them so no worries here. The thing that will get me is the funnel cakes! But I will be within walking distance of some family member's homes and they are planning to put some food out. Likely it will be hamburgers and chips but it will…

Maybe one or two extra drinks then! :drinker:

Thanks guys  I'm not super concerned with my weight, I'm just more of trying to be aware of my activity levels and exactly what and how much I'm eating. I may just let this one be a bonus and make a note in my exercise journal of what I did. I'm not really familiar with the phone app. Do any of you happen to know if…

I prefer the treadmill but that's only because my only place to run is in a city. Cars are not runner friendly.

Use your body weight. Get some gallons of water or some cans of food for hand weights. If a gallon of water gets too light, fill is with sand. Fill a backpack with something heavy like books, rocks, or cans. I would also look on websites like eBay or Craigslist(if available) and see if anyone is selling cheap weights.

I would absolutely LOVE to try boxing but sadly, my gym doesn't offer it. :grumble: The knee injury is new and it feels like it's the muscles so I think the pain will be gone within the next few days. It's gotten worse since Friday (the day they started causing minor discomfort) and feels like my muscles do when I have a…
-
To be more clear about the knee injury, it only causes pain when being forced to lift me up. This means, no going up stairs (down is fine), not bending down in a squatting motion because standing back up is painful, and no running because of the constant downward pressure being applied to my knees. However, I can get into…

Body weight exercises? Modified pushups, crunches or situps, any arm work really. You don't need weights. If you have some water bottles laying around, those could work for you.
-
I personally meal plan then make my list around that. For example, my husband and I make baked bbq chicken. Then I would add chicken breasts, bbq, potatoes (or brown rice), and some sort of vegetable like broccoli or green beans. There have to be some common meals that you and your husband can eat, even if it's just…

Just a thought, but could it be water retention? You weighed yourself Sunday, then Thursday. You can't expect big results in only 4 days. Try weighing yourself less often. The scale is just a number and doesn't reflect all of the progress you have made.
