Just rejoined after a couple years of being inactive. All my old myfitnesspal friends are inactive too so it would be great to add more friends. I gained weight after several injuries and now I'm trying to get back in shape.

Hello and good luck! I'm new again too.
-
I just came back to MyFitnessPal after about a two year break (yikes!). It would be great to have some friends!

Thanks!

Great thread! Tomorrow I start...

Here's my attitude... I'm 47 and the more I have to work to get and keep in shape, the more I appreciate my health. What a blessing each day is that we can walk, run, shovel the driveway, go up and down stairs 20 times a day to do laundry, etc. I know some day when I'm around 80 I won't be able to do all those things so I…

Add me. I took a break from MFP but have a 2 month goal I'm working towards.

Just for today, January 3rd I will be grateful for the beauty around me and get outside and walk over 10,000 steps... even though it's winter in Minnesota.

Forever it seems! I hit my goal weight over a year ago and gained 5-8 lbs back around the holidays. It wasn't until my new clothes started fitting tight that I got serious about losing the last 5-10 again. The good news is that I kept most of the weight off so I consider it a modestly successful maintenance year. I learned…

Yes! I HATE mice! Spiders, bats and snakes don't creep me out at all, but it seems that mice show up in my house at the absolute worse times. I now have extreme nausea with just the thought of mice.

Running, with a cool down that includes squats, abs, and pilates/yoga stretches.

You're 67 Jacqueline? You look at least 20 years younger than that. Keep up the great work!

20ish

You are a wonderful success story! Thanks for sharing.

Lately, I've been running for four or five consecutive days, then I take a few days off. I know this isn't ideal, but it works with my schedule. Anyways... after taking a few days off, I always start with a very short run (2-3 miles) and usually that's my hardest day. Each run after that first day back gets much longer,…

I have the same issue. I've tried to resolve it by only cutting back calories 4 days a week and go for a weekly goal. Those last five pounds are hard to re-lose.
-
Happy to hear I"m on the right track. For me, maintaining takes a completely different attitude than losing. After a year of maintaining, I feel I finally have some good strategies. Although I used to do the weekly free day, I'm trying to get away from the restrict/binge mentality. Instead, I've been working on a 80/20…

Running has really helped me meet health (and weight) goals that I previously thought were unobtainable. However, after 2+ years of running, I'm still learning about proper form/stretching so I don't injure joints and muscles. Running is awesome when progress and improvements happen week after week. For me, the difficulty…

Although the 1200 calorie/day worked for me when I had 40 pounds to lose, now that I am fit and want to re-lose the last 5-10 pounds (again), the 1380 works much better for me. At 1200, I felt like my body as kicking me into starvation mode and the temptation to binge eat was overwhelming.
-
On the positive side, if you are more fit and have a lower body fat percentage with more muscle tone, your body should burn more calories throughout the day. I've always been told that muscle burns more than fat. Another great benefit, it's more fun being fit! When I would go for a run before I was fit, people would see me…

Looking for some healthy, new recipes as I try to "re-lose" that last 10 pounds (again) and move back into my maintenance phase... permanently this time.

I'm looking for some supportive MFP friends too. Add me.

I agree with the 100 calories per mile. I wear a fitbit and it counts my steps and automatically adds exercise calories to MyFitnessPal. If you run with your smartphone, download an app (many of them are free) and it will basically do the same thing. MyFitnessPal partners with many. Just go to the "APPS" link on top of the…
