yes...I lost over 90 pounds and never stepped foot in a gym. All workouts at home or running outside.

As the op of this thread, I came back to this to comment and say...time is a great healer. I was in the throes of a mountain of grief, to a degree I had never faced before. I have come a long way in the 10 months I originally wrote this. Re-reading the comments, I can say many of them were spot on. I spent this year…

2200-2500/day

@OP - my only caution about such a challenge is the lack of rest day(s). That is hard core exercise stress and your body does need recovery, especially dependant on one's present fitness level. I never work out 7 days in a row because it affects my performance both in fitness and day to day living.

Ya know - It would be really great to see people allowing others to figure out if their exercise burn calculations are correct on their own time and personal experience/results rather than the constant hijacking of threads that debate/criticize if someone on MFP is calculating their burns correctly. Especially when a…

Looking by your photo, I would say your body fat does appear to be well below 20% (perhaps even below 15%??). Do you know your BF percentage? I would say maintenance is certainly where you need to be at and perhaps determine if you are undereating for unhealthy reasons and address those throughout maintenance?

2-3 days.

No, it does not seem to portray body composition accurately, in my opinion. My current weight on the model shows a much thicker waist line than what I have and I am more lean overall than the model indicates.

<sighs> oh, the burdens we must bear.

here you go...Please note, there is less than a 5 pound difference between these two pics. My results were garnered through body recomposition. Very slight deficit, heavy lifting 3x/week and cardio 4-5x/week.

or you know...just ignore them and carry on.

Contrary to what many seem to be expressing here, it has never been easier in my life at age 46. :)

Stronglifts, 3x/week, cardio 5x/week

I eat between 235-300gms/day. 90+ pounds lost and still going strong.

Way, way, way too little food. Sorry to be blunt, but the little amount of food you are eating is simply an unhealthy approach to weight loss. Spend some time in the forums here and READ, RESEARCH and GET INFORMED. Get healthy in a healthy way.

good ole' fashioned buttermilk. Yum. not....drink what you like.

@OP - your ticker indicates you only have 2 pounds left to lose? There is no need to have a calorie intake goal set toward losing 1 pound/week. The general advice is once you have less than 10 pounds to lose, you should adjust to 1/2 pound. Further, when you are dealing with the last few pounds, it is a much more delicate…

Hi there. I follow Stronglifts 5x5 (I do it 3x/week) and I do cardio training 4-5x/wk. The bikini pic was taken July 2014 and the second one was taken January 2015. My calorie intake fluctuates between 1900-2200/day (which represents TDEE less 15-10%) and I also did a full month of maintenance in December. ETA: also…

@BetterKimmer is right on the money when she discusses body fat % being the focus. I will use the following two pictures to illustrate. To note, I am just about 5'9", started at 245lbs and now weigh 153 lbs. I am now at 24% bf which is illustrated in the photo with my yoga pants on. The picture of me in the bikini? There…

lifting heavy is relative to your current strength levels. The idea is progressive load strength training. So it may start as machines and progress to dumbells then to barbells, increasing the load as you progress...

Burn after Reading. Bradd Pitt was hysterical...well, all the cast was. Didn't do well in theatres but is seriously funny. To me anyway, lol.

For me the strategy is 2-fold: Tracking and Continual Fitness/Exercise goals

Just as an update: So, I took my measurements today and great news: Finally got in the 'fitness' zone for BF% (@24%) and my LBM flucuated upwards so it appears the trend of losing a pound would result in a 50/50 loss ratio of muscle and fat is not neccessarily going to happen. I increased my calories the last two weeks,…

Hi Op - During that period of time, my deficit was flucuating between TDEE -10/15 and some periods of maintenance (for no more than 2 week periods). For lifting, I follow the StrongLifts program, with progressive loading however, I was not increasing the load with every workout but rather once to twice/month. Additionally…

@OP - I am enclosing 2 pictures for your reference. Whoever said you can't get results being on a deficit and lifting heavy is wrong. These 2 pictures are approx. 6 months apart (bikini last summer, the other one a couple weeks ago). I weight about 2 pounds less in the second one. That is it. However...my body composition…

@SideSteel; could you clarify your comment about eating above BMR - would that be net or gross caloric intake generally being above BMR?
-
Not that I have ever seen such a thing...but what if someone is planning a trip or something where they will be living in high altitudes? Wouldn't they want to condition themselves for this?

10 minimally, 15 at most.
