Introductions
Well, as I am the only member at the moment - I will start, lol. I started my fitness journey a year ago and have lost 50 pounds. I joined MFP a week ago and can't believe the tools available here - all for free! I have another 30 to go and look forward to challenging myself and seeing what the end result will be!

Lost almost 95 pounds and have never felt more lonely
So, I knew that my weight loss would not equal the magic pill solving all my personal demons. I feel so frustrated though because while I know this is likely the first time in my adult life that I have maintained such good fitness and physical well-being, it is also the most lonely time of my life. There is this sense of…

When to switch to bulk?
I am a 46 year old woman, height approx 5'8.5". 3 years ago, I weighed 245 lbs and over the 3 years have been predominantly on a deficit (some small periods of maintenance) and have gotten down to 155lbs. I follow the TDEE method and use they heybales spreadsheet that indicates I have a 'small' frame and recommends a goal…

Rate of Lean Body Mass Loss during Deficit
So, I use the heybales spreadsheet based on TDEE calculations. I have been basically in a deficit for 3 years with small periods of maintenance. In reviewing my data I noticed that the rate of loss of LBM has seriously increased the closer I get to goal. (For example - according to my spreadsheet, when I dropped from 175…

71 pounds, about 18 months
Going to let my pics do the talking but as to how I did this: small changes add up! Going from sedentary to very active, portion control, understanding my caloric requirements, tracking and getting informed! My stats: almost 45 years old, 5'9" and ya, female! Not finished yet - 15 pounds or so to go and then I start my…

Activity Levels: TDEE Method vs. MFP - Huge Variances?
So, I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this: Using the TDEE Method and Calculator (found on Scooby's workshop), my TDEE is calculated at 2933 calories per day. (7-21 hours of strenuous activity). On MFP, using the 'very active' activity level, it calculates my TDEE as 2200 calories per day. Both calculators…

What is meant by 'Strength Training' anyway?
So, I am reading another thread about the importance of lifting/strength training while in a calorie deficit to lose weight. Myself, I have about another 28 pounds to lose. 5'9" height, 193 lbs, bust: 40, waist 32, hips 44. I am soooo confused about this. OK - I get the idea of cardio 3x/week. But what do you mean by…

Newbie: Need your help please
I am trying to understand the distribution ratios that are pre-set on the MFP goal setting page for the nutrition area - what are these default settings for % calories from carbs, protien and fats based on? Mine are automatically calculating at 55% carbs, 30% fat and 15% from protien. Is this appropriate? I was surprised…

Women on the 5x5 Deadlifts Program
Pardon me - I mean 'StrongLifts' program, lol! I am wondering if there are any female members on this program who have been using it as a preventative measure against minimizing lean body mass during their fat reduction (calorie deficit) phase? What has your experience been like? Beneficial?

Cellulite - Oh my!
So, I am wondering is it really possible to lose cellulite as you become leaner and toner? Or are you stuck with it? I read once that it has to do with how body fat is 'placed' within your body, and exercising and becoming leaner will not change it.

Day What? Do you live in Ontario, Canada?
Well, it is my first day on MFP, but not my first day on my fitness and wellbeing journey. I have lost about 50 pounds and 30 inches in the last 14 months primarily focussing on exercise and portion sizes. I have another 20 or 30 lbs to go but it is time to get my nutrition habits reformed! I discovered this site and am…
