  • My understanding is that now that Google owns Fitbit, they are slowly going to stop supporting Fitbit in hopes that people move to Google smart watches. I wonder if this is part of the moving away from Fitbit, they aren't quick to work on glitches. I know they're moving functionality away from the Fitbit app, this just…
  • I'm in the same situation right now. I've come to the realization that it's a lifetime sentence and I'll be fighting sugar until the day I die. Some days and stretches of time are better than others although I'm pulling out of a tough patch right now. I find that if I cut it off altogether it's the best result. As I don't…
  • My bras got really boring when I lost and had to replace them too! You'd think I'd go for something really out there and pretty in a smaller size but I actually switched from really pretty colored and patterned Victorias Secret to neutral colors in a boring style from Macys.
  • I took everything to consignment because I needed the few bucks I made to buy more clothes, lol. When I was loosing literally everything needed to be replaced down to bras. I did it in baby steps but it was pricey.
  • Go for it! The more I race, the happier I am. Also, it makes the solo long runs feel worth it when I race more. Of course you have to know yourself and if you can handle it but I've raced 5 weekends in a row before, I'm typically ready for a weekend off since most of my races involve travel but have fun with it is what I…
  • AfterShokz are my recommendation. I've bee using them just over a year and would never go back to anything else.
  • I have a planet fitness membership, how i use it has evolved throughout the years, there have been times when it's the only workout i do, in this current season of life, i use it to supplement Orange Theory and running. A lot of these comments are unfair. I see people working really hard there. Often the same people…
  • Curious which race you've selected, lots of great ones on March, especially Shamrock at VA Beach.
  • Jordan's Skinny Syrups!!!!!! I get them at Home Goods but I know you can also order online. I kid you not, I have used Jordan's in my coffee everyday for the last 5+ years and they are the best. I keep a bottle in my desk at work for "emergencies" too, lol. Great variety of flavors as well.
  • Yessss!!!!! do Shamrock!!! you will love it!!!!
  • Please, Please, Please get fitted by a running store for shoes. I can't suggest this highly enough. If you are running in improper shoes there is nothing anyone here can suggest that will help you.
  • I highly suggest you try it, you can try it free before you sign up. Personally, I enjoy it, it complements my running well. (Running is what I love by I needed some strength and cross training to up my running game and I'm not very good at doing that on my own) you need to develop your own opinion however, I will say that…
  • You can't spot reduce, unfortunately. What I found though was that sticking with it was the key because my last 10 or so pounds came all from my belly area. For me, boobs went first then some other areas, then the belly at the end. Also, as soon as I put a few pounds on, they go right to the belly. I think it's important…
  • Crawlin Crab in Hampton Virginia is on October 7th. I'm doing that race, J&A races are the best!
  • I haven't raced in 3 months and I am so insanely excited to get fall racing kicked off this weekend after lots of hot humid training miles this summer! Charles Street 12 Miler in Baltimore this weekend and Bird in Hand Half and 5k the following weekend!
  • I run with music as well, I believe if you read the fine print on every single race they all say they discourage headphones, they have to for liability but unless you're aiming to place they generally don't enforce. If it is strictly no headphones at all, they generally state it that way. Some races have you remove…
  • I agree, take a look at your hydration as a whole. You have to do what works for you but if you're needing water 3 miles in, it sounds like you're starting out dehydrated. I typically don't think about carrying hydration until 14+ miles unless its particularly humid. I have a hand held bottle by Nathan that I use for…
  • I really believe that long term success surrounds the ability to make dietary and exercise changes that are sustainable. It's exactly how I've kept a majority of my weight off for almost 5 years. (I say almost because I fluctuate within a 10ish pound range). You must find exercise that you enjoy. For me at the beginning,…
  • I must eat a burrito bowl the night before a race. I'm really not sure if its the burrito bowl itself or the ritual but I don't really care lol, it works so I go with it.
  • I put a packet of Nestle Fat Free Hot Chocolate in a cup, pour coffee over it, stir in a splash of sugar free flavored syrup. I've been drinking this just about every morning for the last 5 years.

  • For something like that, I would just try to make smart decisions and extra mindful of the other meals that day and maybe the next day but otherwise, enjoy and don't worry about weighing.
  • I am obsessed with my Aftershokz. There are few different sides, the have a mini version. It's really worth checking out their website and if you have a running store or the like in your area, you can probably find a display to actually try them.
  • my absolute favorite is roasted brussel sprouts. I put a little olive oil in a frying pan or wok and pepper, garlic, whatever spices you like and dump a bag of raw brussel sprouts in. It takes time to get them nice and roasted but it's worth the wait. Just keep rolling them around until the outside layer crisps up, a few…
  • Check out Aldi, they have a really nice selection for great fresh produce, meat, canned items, and lots of healthy options for really good prices. I often pick up a dozen eggs and a loaf of their healthy bread - that can be several meals for less than $2.50 total.
  • I totally hear you. I don't have much to offer here other than knowing the feeling. I lost a bulk of my weight three years ago and then maintained/lost about 10 more pounds since then. In the last few months I've gotten too lax about logging (marathon training will do that). This is the first marathon where I've seen the…
  • The other thing I try to remember that even if the course is certified, the mile markers generally are not. So yes the entire course should be pretty close but the mile markers are measured out and set up likely with far less precise technology. I consider the mile markers to be just general information.
  • It is a thing, mostly for longer distances. I am doing my third marathon in a few weeks and I have not lost any toe nails though. The right shoes and socks are huge for you best shot in avoiding a nail loss. You want you shoes to have enough room for your feet but not so much that they are moving around. I would suggest…
  • When I cut sugar, honey, agave, all of those 'trendy' sugar substitutes went too because frankly, if the body does not know how to handle white sugar, it doesn't know how to handle those either. I do use very small amounts of Truvia (like one packet in a recipe that makes 2 pies). I really enjoy baking as well and when I…
  • Try a different seasoning recipe...my seasoning recipe has no salt whatsoever. I would happily share but I don't have it at my fingertips this moment. If you are interested, I can certainly post here. I also like to use large lettuce leaves as a wrap instead of traditional shells or even a taco salad but to me, tacos can…
  • Commando, seriously try it once and you'll never go back!
